Excellent hookah! i go there at least once in a week. The customer service is amazing!!! Hookahs are extremely nice and thats the main reason why i skip 20+ hookah bars and drive like 40 miles to this place. Food is good and authentic. I always get Paan with Melon. Don’t forget to try the fruit head. The environment is very laid. Don’t need to dress up. I often go there in pajamas lol with no issues. Feels like home.

The best Iraqi kabob in town, amazing bread, very good hookah, and much more. This place is awesome when it comes to service, food quality and pricing. Plus, the taste is as authentic as Iraqi /middle-eastern home cooked food.

2.75 Stars It would seem that the management of Shalal Kabob Restaurant & Café has a lot to learn about running a successful Middle Eastern Arab restaurant. The service is lethargic and somewhat dopey — when waiters disappear so that they don’t have to give your table coke refills(I suspect to nickel and dime you to death), you know this spells trouble. The food can be brilliantly delicious to downright horrendous — massive inconsistency everywhere. When you are trying to run a restaurant in the United States, the food must be good all of the time under any circumstances. It can’t just be good one day and bad another day. Unfortunately Middle Eastern people who dine out tend to be ambivalent towards mediocrity and take inconsistency at face value as I’ve noticed time and time again. Shalal seems to have fallen under the hookah bar category as I suspect that a large chunk of the earning come from the hookah lounge at night hours. The first thing you will notice is that the interior are absolutely ghastly. I suspect they were the exact same dingy interiors from the previous(probably some hell-hole of a pizza joint) establishment — nothing has changed. A cash injection for a simple interior renovation is needed as soon as possible. The thought of dingy, dusty interiors, with stains on carpets and banquets is pretty gross — especially when you are dining in the same location. The food itself can be pretty delicious at the right times. The kabob is nicely seasoned, the bread is delicious and fresh out of the oven, and the side dishes are quite nice. However there is great inconsistency with the cooking and preparation — sometimes the kabob is overcooked, other times it is under-seasoned, and sometimes you can tell the food has been cooked a day earlier and just warmed — unacceptable. This food could easily be some of the best middle eastern fair in the region if you get the right people and right motivation to make it right. The owner is a very good and talented man who has had great success in his native Iraq. I wish his business great success in the future and I hope that more and more people give it a chance. But help us help you!

Where should one begin? When we first walked into this place we got excited seeing that they had the extended tent area in the back. We walked into a dead restaurant, we were greeted by walking zombie employees and the worst part was that they were trying to seat us inside with the crickets rather than outside with the cool crowd. I could tell that the same crowd hangs out here every day because as soon as we walked out there, we received the«Look». You know, that look of «who are you? Why are you here?» haha. We sat down, it took a while for the waiter to approach us, wasn’t welcoming at all. We ordered our Hookah and drinks. The Hookah came out, the drinks didn’t. Food took FOREVER, they messed up my friends meal and mine was well, MEH! They don’t have fountain drinks, they bring out a can to you and you have to ask for a cup of ice. The experience was not fun and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone else.

The hummus and bread were amazing. The kebab was cooked well but could use some kind of sauce. Hope this place is successful. It has great potential. They should try to work on the décor a bit.

The food was very tasty. I ended up getting the kufta kabob which came with two large pieces of ground beef and a ton of rice and bread. The nice part about it was that it was only 9.99. Anyway, part of it is also a hookah bar so if you’re into that, you might want to try this place out.

This is not a good restaurant by virtually every measure. When you walk in the door, you find a strangely decorated space that is somewhat dirty and worn out. The décor makes no sense, with tacky vinyl tablecloths like you might have found at an outdoor picnic in 1973. The outdoor patio on the right had a strobe light going, and the bar on the left has a lit-up bottle display like you might find in a nightclub. The owners need to hire a designer to help them come up with a coherent theme for the place. Right now it is a clash of themes in search of an identity. The service was not necessarily rude, it was just apathetic. The place has no energy. It is a brand-new restaurant, but when you walk in you feel no sense of enthusiasm. Everyone just seems kind of tired and worn out, even though I was there for an early dinner around 6pm. There is some kind of refrigerator that makes a loud buzzing or vibrating noise that may have been more apparent because we were alone in the restaurant. Our server allowed us to make a substitution in our meal, which was kind. However, he mixed up our order in several ways — it was not really a big deal, but we ended up having to move food across each other’s plates to get our orders right. The Baba Ghanoush appetizer was by far the best part of the meal, though they did not provide enough naan to accompany it. The grilled lamb was overcooked and was so tough that it was difficult to chew. My wife found the spinach inedible. Overall, the food was mediocre. There are several good kebab take-out places near here that have much better food. I guess the place was empty for a reason.
