Very very tasty. Service is ok also. Good buffet for a decent price. Be aware sometimes they are not ready at 11am come 11:30am. This buffet is now closed.

Got take out tonight. I’m sorry guys, this was not good. No one in the restaurant at 7:00PM on a Friday, night picked up takeout, Lamb korma was atrocious. I don’t know what it was but it was not lamb korma it looked like over cooked lamb in a butternut squash sauce. Orange, weird and horrible. chicken tikka masala was barbecue tandoori old chicken with green peppers(horrible!) and onions, dal makhni was runny. Horrible. Where do I go within 3 miles of Oakton high school to get some decent Indian. This sucks. We knew when there was no one in there on a Friday night at 7:00PM that it was going to be a disappointment and we were not wrong. To add insult to injury they did not answer the phone between five and 6:30PM. I do not understand what that is all about but I randomly tried again and got them. You only reason I went there was because they were at least two dollars cheaper on the entrées than Bombay bistro which is less than 100 yards away. Eff this.

Overall very strong. Quality of the food was high with the Chicken Tikka Masala being excellent chicken very well cooked and sauce was out of this world. The rice was very well cooked and fluffy. The breads both Garlic Naan and Aloo Paratha were outstanding. The only area for improvement would be the appetizer mixed vegetable Pakora was not up to the standards of the other items. Plan on returning and would recommend

This is the worst Indian Restaurant I have ever visited in the area. I was there couple of days ago the quality of food was so bad. The very popular south Indian Idly and Vada were the worst ones. They should stop making those items if they do not know how to make it. They were not at worth for the price they are charging. So disappointed

Had the goat biryani. Simply amazing. Very savory with the right amount of spice. The portion was very generous. I’ve been to a few Indian places around the DC area and I think this place is quite underrated. I would speculate that many of the negative reviews are from the buffet.

New place — saw the grand opening ad and went to weekend buffet and the food was very good. Several dishes in both veg and non veg. Really wonderful goat curry and dosas.

Awesome food. Wide spread for buffet! Love how they remodelled the place. Last Indian restaurant was very dull and boring but they did a great job with the décor. Definitely recommend people to try it!

Came here for the lunch buffet and it is unimpressive. This restaurant was previously called Minerva and I was a frequent customer for their lunch buffet. Comparing the current buffet menu to the previous management’s buffet, the new installment is no where close in comparing variety and taste when they are the same price. I won’t be ever coming here again, I can find this level of lunch buffet else where

We came to Saturday brunch at this place after reading all previous reviews. My opinion is that the name of this place can be changed to bollywood«oil» masala. I was damn hungry when I visited this place and below are my observations. Hopefully owner will read my review and make improvements 1)Everything drips in oil. Literally curries float in oil. 2)The appetizer«potato pakora» is frozen food from indian stores. 3)They served pani puri with just pani and no fillings for the puri. 4) biryani is not even biryani… Not even proper basmati rice. Put some masala & chicken with lots of oil and call it biryani. 5) same old chicken in all chicken curries. Only sauce is different 6) no proper desert My bill was $ 30 for 2 of us. Why did I give 2 stars… Plates are clean and naan is fresh … Each gets a point. My verdict is that this place is not for people who knows about indian food.

Came here for lunch during the buffet after hearing RAVE reviews from my co-workers, and they lived up to the hype. The restaurant itself is quite nice, and is very elegantly decorated. It looks like it would be a very nice place to host an event of some sort. The buffet hosted a fairly wide choice of entrees, some vegetarian and some meat which made it convenient for my friend who was joining me as he is a vegetarian. All the food was delicious, notably the tikka masala and the butter chicken. YUM. Fresh naan was served to the table and we walked away stuffed for around 11.00. Certainly worth the trip and would love to come back.

I have been going to Bollywood Masala’s Southern Maryland location for over 6 years and I, along with every other St. Mary’s College alum are THRILLED that they now have a VA location. Don’t believe they’re that THRILLED? Well today I have the money and orders of 4 different people devoted to this particular restaurant’s flavors and talents. We have an indian restaurant 2 miles walking distance from our house in Annapolis and we would rather wait until one of us has to travel to VA, pile up the orders(even some to be frozen for later), and re-heat the dishes, for their flavors cannot be beat. I thought I was just biased(having been a college favorite) so I went on a mission to try Indian food in every city I went, at the best rated locations. I have now tried Indian food in: Boston, DC, San Fransisco, Annapolis, Baltimore, Seattle, Hagerstown, New York City, and even India. The food at Bollywood Masala is still the best. If you have special dietary restrictions or are not sure you’ll like Indian food, the owner, Raj, will do all he can to find an Indian dish you will love! Here is what we love: Chicken Madras Chicken Mahkni Madras Chicken Bollywood(ghost chilis!!) Aloo Gohbi Chana Masala Chicken Tikka Masala All naan ever Samosas Chai and more that I haven’t personally obsessed over, but are the stars of my friends’ hearts. ps-Raj, please open an Annapolis location. The business from our friends, alone, will sustain the rent.

Great food, at reasonable prices. We had the Lamb Tikka Masala, Vegetable Shahi Korma, and Garlic Naan with Cilantro. All very fresh-tasting, and I liked how the onions and green peppers in the LTM were still crisp. The menu is extensive, and fortunately describes the dishes well.(One of my pet peeves is menues that just list the foreign name of the dish, with no clue what it IS!) The owner stopped by, made sure everything was OK, and chatted a while. It was nearly empty, thus nice and quiet; not too surprising since they’re fairly new. So, I’m not sure what the noise level would usually be. The only suggestion I could make is on the décor, not the food or service; it would be good if the posters were better lit so I could read them from across the room and see if any of them were about movies I have seen! :-)

My mother me and my daughter went here last night, we loved it! The tables area little cramped thou but it’s ok, I had the salmon tikka, my daughter ordered the fish and fries but it got switched to chicken(no big deal my daughter loves both). And my mom an okra and rice dishes, everything was yummy! We loved all the movie posters on the wall and the BEAUTIFUL chandelier is a wonderful talk starter

I liked it. I ordered takeout: butter chicken, my wife had Aloo Baingan, and my daughter had chicken tikka from the kids menu. I requested that they make the Aloo Baingan mild, but it was too spicy for my wife. The butter chicken wasn’t bad, but I’ve had better. To be fair, I think my standard for butter chicken is very high. My daughter really enjoyed the chicken tikka. I picked up the food around 7:30 on a Friday, and there were not many people there. The ambiance inside the restaurant was nice. I’m interested in trying the buffet during the week. I’d go back again but probably not any time soon.

I liked Minerva and would mostly go for the lunch buffet, but neither of my sisters really liked it. So obviously now that it’s under new ownership and menu, I wanted to go there with them and check it out. The staff was friendly and helpful and let us pick out a booth, bringing us a high chair and booster seat for the kids. They brought out fresh naan shortly after we sat down, which was excellent, but napkins and utensils were not at the table. You need to get your own at the buffet. The buffet options were about half of what Minerva had, but still had the staple items. There was rice and I believe all of the meat options were chicken. There were vegetarian dishes as well, but the spinach dish had chicken, even though it’s usually paneer. The only sweet option was tapioca. My sister’s favorite Indian dish is the butter chicken, but even that was too spicy for her. It was obviously too spicy for her girls age 2 and 4. I tried a little of everything and liked all but one of the dishes, which seemed like it had too much of a certain spice. I will definitely be going back, but not with either of my sisters. One benefit of that, they let me take the rest of her food to go, even though that’s generally not acceptable at a buffet. The biggest suggestion I have for the buffet is better labels for the food indicating how spicy it is and whether it is vegetarian or vegan. I didn’t look at their regular menu so I don’t know if that lists that information.

Just had dinner at the newest Bollywood Masala in Fairfax, located where Minerva’s was on Fairfax Blvd. I used to go to Minerva’s, but the place really went downhill over the past few years and I gave it up. I was curious to see what the new incarnation was like, and WOW — what an improvement. More diverse menu, great food, and good service. The restaurant has been redecorated and is quite pleasant inside. Really, what’s not to like? This was their third day since opening, but you’d never know. I had the Chicken Bollywood, which was excellent and had just the right level of spiciness — advertised as «medium» in the menu. The garlic butter naan was done just right, and went very well with the sauce from the chicken dish. The mango lassi was terrific — I love those. They do a lunch buffet from 1130-230 weekdays(not sure about weekends) and I’ll definitely be giving it a try.

Bollywood Masala is as legit as it gets. Having been a regular at their other locations for the past 6 years, the dishes below are what I’m addicted to. I currently have the butter chicken shakes due to going a week without it; it honestly is addicting. I’ve had butter chicken all over the DMV area/LA/SF/Canada/Dubai/Abu Dhabi/…this is hands down the best you’ll find around. Things to order: Butter Chicken Kashmiri Chicken Korma Vegetable Korma Garlic Naan Chai or Mango Lassi Thank me later.
