First of all, I have always enjoyed the people who work at this Grilly’s. The staff are extremely friendly, efficient and warm. However, I’ve been frustrated over the years to find that the burritos and tacos are consistently lacking in flavor. It’s not that anything is stale, it’s that they lack pizazz. The taco salads are pretty good, especially the Mexican Caesar, which has a very tasty dressing and nice, fresh lettuce. As a Fairfax resident, I do enjoy the attractive, colorful sidewalk presence of Grilly’s, and the lovely flower pots out in front.

I was desperate for a burrito and ordered the chicken grande burrito — chicken burrito with the works! Sorry to say, it was too salty! And never trust a place that offers a choice of brown rice. Come on!(But this is Marin, so I get it! Don’t blame the player, blame the game!) The kids had nachos — those were good. Guac was good. Service was good. Tiny place if you want to eat in!

Come here with my girlfriend often, they have very friendly staff and excellent food. Whether I am in need of dinner, lunch or breakfast, they’ve got really good vegetarian options with a unique flavor and style that keeps bringing me back. A little pricy for Mexican food, but when you compare price to the better ingredients that fairfax demands, it’s well worth it. Five stars, thank you grilly’s

It’s really, really hard for me to give Grilly’s one star. I go to the one in Mill Valley frequently, and it’s always been delicious. But this location was really, really lacking. We went in at 8:00 pm, starving, and wanting something that would hit the spot. We ordered, and within ten minutes, our burritos were ready. We checked the order, and it was all wrong. We had asked for one of the burritos to have guacamole on the side, instead of in the burrito. When we looked at it, they had put sour cream on the side instead. When we went back to have them fix it, the cook was really rude about it. He acted like it was our fault. Um, it’s not are fault! You’re the one who messed up. Why are you getting mad at us? He even went to go talk to the cashier, because he was insistent that he got the order right, and we were trying to mess with him. The cashier told him that we asked for guacamole on the side. So he made us a whole new burrito, almost forgetting the beans, while the entire time, my boyfriend was apologizing and saying«sorry for being such a hassle» Why we were the ones apologizing instead of them, I have no idea! We got our burrito(he gave it to us for free) and we left. We went to go sit down and eat them(we were stoked, as we got a free one), but the instant we took a bite, we looked at each other in disgust. It was as if someone had dumped an entire cup of salt into our burritos. They were inedible. I’m someone who LOVES salt. I put extra salt on everything. But the amount of salt in that burrito was awful. I was so mad. We didn’t even bother going back in after that to say something, after the way the reacted the first time. I was so hungry, and I couldn’t even eat my burrito. Severely disappointed with Grilly’s. I don’t think I’ll return.

Go try out some really wonderful Mexican food. It’s always made fresh like the mango salsa. The tacos are sweet to eat. Small area to eat inside or grab something to go and hit the road. People love coming here and I stop by almost all of the time. It’s great to eat at!!!

Simple take out restaurant which is good for just that. There aren’t many tables to eat there. The chicken soup is fantastic and there is nothing better when you’re sick.

This is a solid place to grab a burrito on a busy weeknight with toddler wrapped around my leg. It’s fast, reliable and they are really sweet to the kids. I’ve had one of the cooks run over with a comped horchata for my son who was being an angel on this occasion. Is it creative, authentic or well known for anything in particular? Well no, but it’s one of those places you know won’t let you down. Sometimes that’s a lifesaver.

Really good and fresh. Try the fish tacos with mangos. Rice and beans are a separate order, but go for it anyway — you will have some mighty leftovers for lunch the next day.

Great taste at a fast pace! Stop by for a salad or a burrito and enjoy some great quick food! The mixed veggie burrito is my favorite with hot salsa. Stop by and enjoy!

I love grilly’s! I have been coming here for years. Best chicken tacos, BEST nachos ever, and their chicken taco salad is UH mazing! If they have the watermelon juice… get it! so good. Grilly’s has another location in Mill Valley which is nice if you want to sit, especially outside on a nice day. But seriously. food. is amazing! So quick too!

I use to love this place, esp after a long bike ride. I stopped here a few months ago for lunch to get burritos with a few friends 3 out of 5 of us got food poisoning really bad. We think it was from the guacamole… FYI — I did check out their latest report( ), which had only minor issues.

One of my favorite quick places for take-out lunch or dinner. Yummy. Fabulous salsa. Very fresh. They have their own flavor, there is a California edge to the Mexican cuisine, but it’s neither light nor as heavy as Mex can be. You can get black beans instead of refried, the grilled meats are savory, not oily. Come here for the food. This is not a sit-down restaurant, although there are places to sit. It’s not full service, it’s a taqueria that consistently delivers really good stuff. My favorites are the taco chicken salad, steak quesadillas, and burritos… each of which is a full meal. The cashier can be a little abrupt, depending on who is behind the counter and how long the line is. But the food is the thing. Stop in for lunch, or order by phone 10 minutes in advance, and you can leave your car at the curb and dash in to pick it up. Just do it.

It’s not a real taqueria so don’t get things twisted. It does a good impression of one but it’s just off. It’s like when you try to make taqueria tacos or burritos at home… it’s good, it’s healthy but something is lacking.

Cashier was completely lacking in customer service, granted I was only interested in the burritos but it’s not too much to ask for a smile and«Hi, welcome» Food– Mediocre, the burrito was a pretty big size but the ingredients had too much of one thing– in this case rice and beans. The nachos were tasty but nothing noteworthy. Overall, the service from the cashier to the cook who told me to hurry up and pick up my order just made my experience here supremely unpleasant and rather pissed. Adiós.

I’m a huge Grilly’s fan, I felt in love with their Melted cheese nachos(yes real cheese and not neon orange cheese dip), their taco salad with tofu or chicken, that dressing should be illegal. Years ago I worked by their Mill Valley location and now I am closer to the Fairfax one which the food is equally as fresh and delicious. I do wish they had better seating options, i believe it has 3 tables and can sit 8 people inside, which just means you need to walk down to the grass area by the fire dept, sit on the concrete stairs across the street or take it home. Is it worth the trek out to Fairfax? Yes ma’!

This is only for the Mango Salsa Chicken Burrito Bowl. I was sooo disappointed by this dish. First off, the menu advertises the burrito bowl to be the exact same as a burrito, minus the tortilla. I think that my bowl had less content in it then did everyone else’s burrito. Also, it was COLD. The chicken was lukewarm at best and dry. I opted for no rice and asked for more grilled vegetables.(which, they will charge you $ 1.00 with NO warning). The vegetables they added where broccoli and squash, not what I expected when I’m ordering a burrito. Also, over all, everything was dry. They don’t give you any salsas or sauces. The Mango salsa they added was okay, but it was more like finely chopped pieces of mango and cilantro… not really salsa like. I’d say a safer bet is to get the grande burritos. My friends got those and said they were okay.

Really quick review for really quick visit to this Mexican restaurant in Fairfax. I’ve always seen Grilly’s while driving by but never ventured in. While reconnecting with an old friend from high school, it was the perfect opportunity to try Grilly’s. We walked in on a fast moving line and saw how tiny Grilly’s was. There was almost no room to sit down and eat. While one could eat outside the day I visited(it was sunny,) it would be bad if it rained. They were very quick with the burrito, basically just a minute or two. Most burrito places take around 5 minutes to make burritos. The burrito itself was okay, good meat and beans but no cheese. Overall, solid three stars.

I suppose taste is subjective. For just one example, take the fact I like Cheetos and would knock down an elderly person to get at a bag of Funyon’s, Perhaps you might take that in to consideration when I say that I really enjoy the food at the Fairfax Grilly’s. I used to eat regularly at the Mill Valley location and absolutely loved it. The Fairfax location has been my goto for over a year now. My experience has been with the Burritos and I can say that they have been consistently excellent. The hot salsa is pretty good though it could be a bit hotter. My daughter loves the fish taco’s, but she is only twelve, so what does she know… As this is primarily a take out place, service is pretty much restricted to getting your order right and not overcharging you. So as service goes, it has always been fine. When I ask for extra salsa or anything else, it has always been given with minimal fuss. The place is so small you feel like your in the kitchen(which you sort of are) and does not even have a lot of standing room Order ahead by phone if possible and have your food ready when you get there so you don’t have to wait around. Great place to get a quick bite to eat, especially if your on the go.

I didn’t drive up to the city of Fairfax for a below-average super burrito! Well, yes, unfortunately I did. The city of Fairfax is predominantly upper-class rich folks and this tiny taqueria’s food is cooked and made for the locals. My $ 6.95 Grilled Chicken super burrito had the usual interior filling. The meat was a bit too salty, the cheese was made with sharp cheddar instead of your typical cheese find in most taquerias. Also the rice tasted awkward. Everything went wrong and wasn’t too satisfying. I think the best part was my $ 1.50 bottle of Jarrito. In terms of the food, I’m in no immediate rush for a second-trip back here. Unless, later reviews by other Unilocalers with a recommended dish(s). With the city of Fairfax being a family-town, this Taqueria also sells Chocolate Chip Cookies. WTH!?! However, I will add a star for having historic pictures posted on the wall of the earlier years of this corner before this taqueria was built in 2005. Also, another star for sponsoring many Little League Athletic programs in and throughout Marin County.
