Many people may find this studio to be fantastic, but it wasn’t for me. The studio itself is immaculate. Clean, well ventilated, with locker rooms and showers. Mats, towels, and water are all available for rent or purchase. Additionally, they have a decent selection of yoga clothes, accessories, and reading materials for purchase. The class schedule is extensive, with different levelled and focused classes interleaved throughout the day. They’re on the Mindbody application, so registering for a class is very simple. Instructors are thoughtful with regards to sequencing. The reason im going with a mediocre rating is that classes do not follow the Journey into Power as tightly as I had hoped. I know this is not a Baptiste affiliate chain, but with the online description mentioning Baptiste principals, I was looking forward to a class that was at least loosely based around JIP sequencing. I found that the classes weren’t particularly challenging, with the exception of working through the added humidity. Additionally, this studio has mirrors, and plays music throughout classes. I realize these are things that many people want, but I found both to be very distracting. Additionally, I felt no sense of community here. At my home studio, when someone’s knees are near your hand in a supine twist, you assist them by pressing down on their top knee to deepen their twist. Here, the person next to you will pretend you’re not there, or slowly scoot themselves away from you. Not a bad thing, necessarily, but if you aren’t in a class at least partially for the community, you may as well have stayed home and practiced to a podcast. I will not be returning to a corepower location in the future, but that’s not necessarily a reflection of this studio itself. I guess I just don’t like the brand. It may be great for certain people, but if you’re looking for an old school, Baptiste studio, this is not the studio you’re looking for.

I have been going to CorePower Yoga at Fairfax Corner for about 3 weeks. I am attracted to yoga for the physical and mental health benefits. The facilities are very clean. Mouthwash, body lotion, Q Tips, and soap are in the restroom. The lockers are wood and have a really nice finish. If you are a guy, you fill find that you have the entire rest room to yourself, which is kind of nice. Everything is new. There is a really nice ambiance around the studio. The instructors are really helpful, especially Diana. She corrects incorrect postures multiple times throughout class. The other instructors are helpful too, I have only tried a couple. Also, the music selection is just right for yoga. Huge fan! Will be going here a while.
