Nice local bar and grill in Fair Lawn. The staff is awesome, Patrick is great! The food is consistently very good with daily lunch specials. Plenty of tv’s in the bar area to watch sports. There is also a dining area as well as limited outdoor seating when the weather is warm and nice. TouchTunes jukebox on premises to listen to your favorite music.

Great local spot. Easy menu, drinks are on point. Specials are different every day. They make great Long Island Iced Teas and Red Devils. Can’t go wrong here.

So I posted this on the town’s community website and the long knives came out. The owner of the place addressed me. He apologized and offered all the excuses why we got bad service. I explained that slow service happens, I was only upset that I was told I couldn’t speak to a manager and that when I said I wouldn’t be back, I was told good, don’t come back. He apologized again. He apologized in a third post where he said, I’m sorry that you expected me to stop what I was doing to tell you the obvious, that we were busy. At this point I pulled down the post I wrote, there was too much drama. The fans of the place started a new thread where they attacked me. I would avoid this place if you’re fans of good service or hate drama.

Been wanting to go here for quite a while, love the history on the place and was eager to try the food, The GF and I were out for lunch and going to another of our favorite spots but detoured over to the Dutch house, we got there around 11:30 and there was one other patron at the bar, I felt like we didn’t belong there, now I’m not saying you have to give me the warmest welcome, but a smile and a «Hi what can I get you» just felt cold, we ordered 2 burgers, read they were great, we got our order and the food was cooked to order but wasn’t impressed with the burger, I would return and try something else but I’m not in that much of a hurry.

Such a great burger to be had here, Swiss pork store right across the street brings them their chop meat and that is the best quality meat around. Felix was my bartender and was awesome the whole night. Great job.

been hearing about the best burger around for months. decided to see what all the hubbub was about. started with wings. not great. breaded and tasted like straight from the freezer to the fryer, meh. got the bacon blue burger medium. it was tasty and well cooked, but the blue cheese they use was really strong, and they use alot of it, which really overpowered the flavor of everything else. oh well. would return, but not in a rush.

If you love dive bar atmosphere look no further. This homey bar has industrial lighting, dark wood ceilings and a town pub feel. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious. Try their burgers! The meat is fresh from the butcher across the street. Overall, this place is the best for a casual night out or a place to watch the game.

Went here for the first time in about 15 years the other night. I have heard that they have some pretty awesome food but I have only been there for the bar. Now a little bird told me that the reason they have such great burgers is because they get their meat from The Swiss Pork Store across the street. And if you know Fair Lawn, you already know that it’s the only place to buy your cold cuts or any meat for that matter! Well regardless it was Saturday night and busy. But we found seats and got a few drinks. Something smelled amazing! It was the smoked chicken wings. They were pretty awesome. They reminded me of the big turkey legs you get at either Disney World or the Renaissance Faire. My burger was pretty great as well. The drinks I had were also huge and cheap. The porch was awesome outside and we were on and off of it the whole time we were there. Even though this place is considered a dive bar I’d def come back to hang on the porch.

Great for bar-type food(burgers, nachos, chicken fingers, etc). I recommend their nachos if you are a fan-they are sooo good. Friendly people; seems like they get a lot of regulars and everyone knows everyone, especially those sitting at the bar. Love to sit out on the porch/deck in the nice weather.

The best burgers on the east coast!!! Can not express how amazing they are, seriously have never had anything so tasty. Wouldn’t have e pelted that from a bar. Nothing better than a cold beer with a nice cheese burger on the Dutch House porch. Something I look forward to every winter

Great burgers, chicken sandwiches, and salads. Love the atmosphere at this place. The Dutch House is a great place to stop after work for a beer and sit out on the patio. Their sangria during summer time is a nice touch. Definitely a Fair Lawn staple. It’s a right of passage to stop at this place!

2015 and still a great place for tasty wings, juicy burgers and ice cold beer! Summertime folks the outside patio is really nice and the servers are fun and always happy to offer menu suggestions. Already enjoyed a beverage or two here since summer started and so should you!

The food is great. I went there for my hockey championship party and I had a great time. The dart game is so much fun. The pool table is also very fun. We had cheeseburgers, hotdogs, onion rings, and fries. The onion rings were my favorite. The staff are very nice there. The environment is very cool there. It’s like a old barn type feel which I really like.

The burger is good. Not bad. Not amazing, also. I was expecting a wider variety of beers indeed. Based on the reviews and for being considered one of the best burgers in the state, my expectations were really high.

Sat down and ordered a beer, was never offered a menu, Just asked for a burger and than was offered a menu!!! Defiantly NOT the best burger by a longggg shot !!! bun was stale and burger was over cooked as ordered. Sat at bar and waitress/bartender didn’t seem interested in customer service. The best thing about this place was the chips. Won’t be back!

It always cracks me up when people rate business as sub par when they are comparing them to other places that really have no basis of comparison. The Dutch House is, was and always will be a dive bar that happens to have really good food. I have been going there for years as it is the quintessential place in Fair Lawn to go get a drink. A few years back they added the front porch which is really quite nice, especially on warm nights. The food is actually kind of a shocker because I don’t think the casual patron would expect anything of such high quality. It’s really quite good. Ample parking, reasonable prices and a friendly staff all add up to a real local winner. Kudos.

Somewhat quaint building(said to date from 1756). Pictures on the web site give you a good look. More of a dive bar in back. Approx ten taps. Bartenders are friendly and efficient. When I have a little time to wait for a train in Fair Lawn; this place is convenient. Have not tried the food.

My husband and I were looking for somewhere to eat that had outdoors seating. After Unilocaling a few places, we came across the Dutch House Tavern. We ordered the nachos for appetizers, nice size for two people, super cheesy! For dinner, my husband got the Whirly Burger with a side of onion rings and I got the California Chicken sandwich with a side of fries(they were out of sweet potato fries). We asked for the burger medium but it came out well done. Not the end of the world. It was still good! My chicken sandwich was also very good. The chicken was well seasoned and not dry. All in all it’s your usual bar food. Small menu, sandwiches, burgers and some apps. Recommended if you’re looking for somewhere quick and easy.

The Dutch House is a hidden suburban gem. A restaurant/bar located inside of a farmhouse that was built circa the American Revolution in northern New Jersey. What was probably a dirt road is now a busy main road and the Dutch House is surrounded by dry cleaners, nail salons, etc. The décor is old wood, fireplace, Americana beer signs, Christmas lights, TVs, and several small rooms. In warmer weather, a farmhouse front porch opens up with tables. The food is standard American fare, but they do make a pretty decent burger. The drinks are also standard… I did not spot a cocktail menu, nor is this the place to really need one. This is a loved-by-locals type spot, precisely for its lack of pretension and casual vibe. There are sports playing on TV, and there is always music playing, typically from the 60’s/70’s. Everyone here knows and loves their bartenders, who in turn seem to take good care of everyone. Come here to catch up with friends, have a few drinks, and relax.
