All the way dogs are the way to go here– they’re tasty and filling, although I prefer some other nearby hot dog places to the dogs here. I wouldn’t recommend getting the other toppings on the menu, as the mustard and relish dog tasted really weird so I didn’t eat more than a few bites. Service is quick and friendly, keep in mind that small fountain drinks are very small, and they have ketchup and mustard bottles located around the restaurant. A big plus I didn’t realize until I’d already ordered a drink was that they carry Boylan bottled birch beer. Their onion rings are very good and crispy.

Ok but not what it use to be. Back when it was located in Paterson, NJ by the original owners they had the best dogs in the area and the sauce was greasy and flavorful. Since switching owners and moving locations the food has gone a little down hill. I can’t exactly put my finger on what’s different since they supposedly got the recipes along with the business but it just isn’t the same. I definitely miss the old J&H’s but, if you have a craving for a dog all the way or a shake it’s a pretty decent local option.

Ok so I e been here 1 time per week for the past 4 weeks. I’ve tried the roast beef and chili dogs with cheese all was very good. Place is clean and the staff has always been friendly, I stop here now on my way to having a cigar at the lounge in Ridgewood. I personally still think Rutts Hut is better but JH is better than Hot Grill!!!

Came here with Jimmy and Rory before checking out Hiram’s Roadstand. This is a very nice hot dog. I got the texas wiener all the way and every part of it was excellent. They also sell yoo-hoo, which is my go-to drink with any kind of hot dogs, so additional kudos to them for that.

Latest experience was December 2015 and I frequent often. For food(hot dog) places in North Jersey this is one of the best. Get two hot dogs all the way and fries with sauce. They have a great selection of food also. Restaurant is always clean and service is prompt. Prices are good too.

Great dogs here. Quick service in a fairly clean setting. I was really impressed with the Big Dog. A ¼ # beef dog which was delicious topped with the chili, mustard and onions. I’ll be back the next time I’m in town.

My go-to joint for Texas dogs(chili dogs). Get them«all the way» with an order of tater rounds with sauce. Exquisite! Follow with breath mints. They do have other food — burgers and such, but you go there for the dogs. Not as — er — quaint as the old dump in Paterson(Dan thinks it’s too clean), but it’s a good successor.

Dawgs are good, I don’t care for their chili. Meatballs on Sunday aren’t bad for a hot dog joint! We have gone just to pick up canollis, yes canollis! Fresh and filled as you order!

We went on a venture to 4 hot dog joints today to make this Saturday interesting. Out of the 4 places we went to, J& H ranked 3rd out of the 4 places we went to. Average at best. Good for a local stop to grab a hot dog but not a place I’d make a special trip to get to.

It’s been almost ten years since my last visit. Got two dogs all the way(chili, mustard and raw onions). They may have just been chili dogs, but they were as good as any chili dogs I’ve ever had. I’ll make sure to not wait as long for my next visit.

I have never been treated so terribly befor in my life let alone a resteraunt. They made the mistake of giving me the wrong fries and when I went to the counter to tell them the order was wrong the old man just kept repeating that I ordered it I ordered it I ordered it and being very rude so I literally sat there for 3 minutes listening to this guy yell at me about how stupid I am so I threw my food in the trash and waited for my husband to eat. The old man comes to my table and continues to yell at me saying im making a scene and telling me he’s going to call the police on me if I don’t leave. My husband tried to finish his food but was so upset we just walked out and as I was pulling out the old man was just standing in the window watching us like a hawk??? I AMNEVERGOINGBACKTHERE! If your not a vet war hero they will treat you like shit

For a Jersey hot dog and hamburger joint, this was not bad. The joint was very clean and spacious, so that is an added bonus. Food also comes super fast. I’d eat here again.

Best hot dogs I’ve had in over 20 years! Their meat balls are great too. A family owned business where everyone is so friendly and care about their restaurant from the service to the food to the customers. My first experience was Sunday and We were so impressed that We made a special trip to come back when We was in the area today. We ate in and took some to go.

This place is near my Boo Boo’s work place. I stopped by for a quick bite. Got a hot dog all the way and the potato rounds with chili and a medium root beer. I used to Libby’s and the new Coral in Paterson and Johnny and Hanges did win me over. It could be that it doesn’t have the old time charm people talk about. But, I do feel safe dining here.

I have been going to JH for years with my father and, honestly, I just don’t get it. Their hotdogs/sauce are quite good but the rolls always taste stale to me. Now, I’m not saying that they are stale but they just don’t taste great. They’re too doughy and stiff. I prefer more of a potato roll type of roll. I also find that the roll to dog ratio is off and therefore offsets the delicate balance between the two. The roll literally overpowers it. Their fries are good but never seem to come out well done enough. Rounds are much better and have the often coveted but rarely duplicated crunch. I think if they had softer rolls and better fries I would like them a lot more. However, I seem to be in the vast minority since just about everyone I know LOVES their food and raves about it. Maybe I have too high a sensitivity to buns. Who knows?
