Closes Early — beware! Got off the highway to go here, but it was closed by 5:00 pm.

My inner compass pulled me straight to this place, away from the main highway off to Fabens on Sunday when I was hungry for Enchiladas specifically. I don’t think I had been here before then. When I saw that the name of the place was Nena’s it reminded me if my Aunt and also of enchiladas, so we pulled into the parking lot. Inside the dining area was well cared for, with beautiful family tables with long maple benches and armchairs. There are landscape paintings. It feels like the place had stood there for many years. We had some flat red enchiladas with raw onion and a limonata. It was just over five dollars for a beautiful Enchilada plate! On the wall they boast Daily 1.99 Breakfast Specials. Tuesday Morning is Huevos Rancheros. I remember that. Tuesday is tomorrow. Hmmm…

Yummy and much better than fast food! I got green chicken enchiladas. Just like mom’s!

without a doubt some of the best home-cooked Mexican food anywhere. Worth a stop. I don’t pass Fabens without stopping at Nena’s.

Chips and salsa were a great start. I had the chicken enchilada special which had a great heat and good flavor. My co-worker also had the chicken taco special which looked really good. Overall, good lunch for cheap. The next best thing to a home cooked meal in Mexico, I would imagine, without actually being there.
