Pier One has some great sales going on right now for the Holiday season. Their papason chairs are normally a bit high priced, but we got our chair + cushion + footstool + cushion all for under $ 180, which was a great deal for these comfy and unique chairs. The rest of their regular merchandise has always been pretty meh, but they always seem to have nice seasonal stuff. Also, their ornaments are unique and make great random gifts.

You never know what you’ll get in Pier 1. Depending on the season, the cutesy stick-on decals outside the store windows will give you a good idea of exactly what they’re offering. I kind of don’t like Pier 1 for this reason. They really play up the fact that their a ‘unique home furnishing store’ but they don’t seem to have a lot of variety. In fact, for the past 3 years I’ve seen the exact same display of the exact same scented candles on the exact same side of the store. It’s just a boring and overpriced place. Occasionally you can find some interesting stuff that looks pretty and will add to your apartment/house and your décor, but it’s difficult to find really awesome things in there. And sometimes when you do they’re about 300 dollars, so oh well. You just feel like giving up when you go in.

The last 5 years or more I would walk in here for about 3 minutes, then walk out. It was a shame to see this chain of stores that sell furniture, dining room paraphernalia, candles and knick knacks in decline. Their stuff was just boring and crappy. This week I stopped in and saw things I had never seen, nice tasteful furniture, and still inexpensive, like it always has been! Everything seemed new and different, so I asked an employee what happened and she said that the company has a whole new staff of designers. No wonder! I’ll be back to Pier 1, even their holiday wrapping looked nice. Yeah, the holidays are here already, and I am not ready yet!
