Used to like this place but will never went back after they refused to honor an expired gift certificate that I had lost – and found a few years ago. Glad the law changed in NH but by then it was too late. I was in retail for years and never would have done that.

Given that Christmas is less than a week away, I want to point out that this is a good place to find«stocking stuffers». I usually walk out empty handed, but as gift shops go, it’s full of more interesting things than the typical Hallmark store.

Serendipity has been a comfort shop for me for many years. Directly across the stree from the Ioka Theater and Loaf and Ladle restaurant. I think the owner relinquished the store to her daughter last year, as I was shopping with a friend when they served wine and cheese to their customers in celebration of the event. I’ve only been in once(it felt a tiny bit different under the mgmt of the daughter) to check it out, but plan to stop in very soon. If you need something a bit upscale and special to wear to an event, or just feel like treating yourself, this is the place. They also have fun odds and ends like hair sticks and barrettes, scarves, socks, xmas ornaments, cards, stocking stuffers, candles, etc. in a small but comfortable shop with excellent, relaxing music that somehow makes it feel almost like a friend’s living room. They also have a nice little jewelry case with mostly silver, but many things to pamper your senses.
