went on a hawaiian luau cruise on the queen of excelsior quite awhile back. the boat itself was pretty nice. it had a top and bottom deck. the bottom area was where the food was. they also had the a/c running for those who sat inside(it was assigned seating) and the roof on the interior had mirrors all over. the windows were tinted so the sun wouldn’t get to anyone who was sitting indoors but the ones sitting above deck suffered a bit. although there was a roof that covered us on the upper deck, the windows were plastic sheets that rolled up. eventually during the evening, it was nice having to stick your hand or head out the window and feeling that nice breeze. and the view was great. nothing to block your way when taking pix of the lake and the sunset. when it was time to eat, because we were located on the top, by the time we reached the food table, they pretty much ran out of everything besides the rice. there were just a few shrimp left and barely any salad. let’s just say i took the last of the shrimp and the salad. the food was tasty but wished we would’ve been able to taste the tender pork, other seafood dishes, fruits and whatnot. my husband was pretty upset and told me that he never wants to do this again and if so, we better be sitting on the bottom deck so we get first dibs. if anything, we’re surprised that whoever planned the food didn’t account for those sitting on the top deck because there were a good amount of people that didn’t get any food. to think, they even ran out of the big plates so we had to use the small appetizer plates to put food in. my husband barely ate and was super disappointed. to me, it was still a nice experience minus the food part. would like to try again in the future IF the hubby lets.
