Owner is a nut! Expects kids to tip while skating the lake. Actually told my child he couldn’t eat there again if he doesn’t tip. Slow service. If owner sets this kind of example, of course the employees will follow. Bright operation room lighting too. Not friendly service.

Food is good. Attitudes of the girls running it needs some fixing. It’s a service business isn’t it? but while waiting to get seated, the phone was ringing and it was like it was a chore to take orders to go… unfriendly was an under statement. My friends from Denver were totally turned off. A bit uncomfortable is a good word, good food or not.

Friendly, prompt and accommodating staff. The food was pretty standard American Chinese fare. The Pad Thai is the best I’ve tried up the hill, but the tofu wasn’t quite as good as Golden Stix. I do like that they give you several options of rice with your entrée. Parking is easy and plentiful. The good service adds an extra star.

I normally feel bad leaving 3 star reviews, but honestly, Coal Mine Dragon is 3 star Chinese food. It’s not good, but it’s not bad. It’s a meal. A meal that you pay for. It’s 100% safe Chinese food. No surprises, nothing exotic, it’s as basic as basic gets. The ingredients they use are decent. The service is decent. It’s nothing to write home about and not worth going out of your way for. It just is. And I don’t mean that as an insult in any way.

This is the restaurant I compare all other Chinese restaurants to. So tasty. I recommend the Sezchuan pork and the wanton soup. Have to go here every time we come back to town.

I have lived in Evergreen for 32 years and Coal Mine has been there as long as I can remember. I never leave reviews but after seeing so many negative views from out of town, out of state people I thought I should. 1. There is another Chinese place in Evergreen, the Phoenix, Coal Mine is waaayyyy better 2. I have been going there for as long as I can remember I have NEVER had a bad meal. 3. I will agree that the sisters can be surly, but I think after being in the restaurant business that long anyone would be. I think it ads to the ambiance :) Best hot and sour I have ever had, best cashew chicken, best Shrimp with lobster sauce, best beef & broccoli. My tea is ALWAYS hot, I think the rice taste like rice and I LOVETHISPLACE!!! I wish my body would allow me to eat here every day without gaining a million lbs because I over eat the delicious food every time.

The food here used to be alright but now it is awful. Do not waste your time going here. I have been so many times and it disappoints each time. Food is dry and boring and service is poor and snotty. If you are looking for good Chinese in evergreen, try Phoenix Chinese. It is amazing and family owned.

Not the worst food but way overpriced for the quality. I got sweet & sour chicken and General Gaos chicken with rice. It was almost $ 30. Just seems like a whole lot of money for what I would equate to the McDonalds of Chinese food. Probably will make the trip to Conifer in the future.

I guess I am not a connoisseur of Chinese takeout… but I eat it and enjoy it and this place is just as good as most others I’ve tried. I usually get the szechuan chicken… it’s not as spicy as I would like it but it’s always loaded with chicken and veggies and has great flavor. Eggs rolls and hot and sour soup are pretty good here too. We’ve never done delivery so not sure if they do or if it’s any good… but we have sat and had some hot sake while waiting for our order… which was pretty darn good sake:)(I know not Chinese… but whatevs) Really love this on a cold snowy day in Evergreen when you just want to get takeout so you can veg out, stuff your face and watch movies.

Very, very average Chinese restaurant, nothing to go out of your way for. Family owned for 20 plus years but don’t expect great service, especially if you only want a hot soup and hot tea. You won’t win over this sister owner duo with small orders. My best recommendation is to go if your craving Chinese food and see what you think. I’ll be curious to see your reviews.

Family run traditional Americanized Cantonese style. Some review said this is the best Chinese restaraunt in Evergreen. It is the only one as far as I can find. The rice served with each dish is poor quality. And the side fried rice is not fried. It is cooked brown rice. BarbQue pork lunch was a good value but the egg rolls are horrible. Pay extra and get the Shanghai roll with better skin. Veggies served in dishes are good and fresh! There are 2 other places in the shopping are there by Evergreen Lake.

The food is decent but the staff are rude. And it takes a really long time to get served here sometimes because there’s only one server. Sadly it’s the only Chinese place in Evergreen, so when we have a craving for Chinese we go here. We would probably go here more often if the server lady’s weren’t so rude. Bummer.

Delicious as always. Coal mine Dragon is our regular carry out Chinese restaurant. Today we had time to relax in the dining room there and watch the snow fall over evergreen lake. Great food, fabulous view, and the staff is top-notch. Worth the trip!

A little pricey for Chinese food. I’ve ordered take out twice from here now. My shrimp fried rice was AMAZING, it seriously was probably up there on best fried rice I’ve had with one small complaint, I hate when the tails are still on the shrimp and you have to pull it off yourself. The other thing I had another time was the shrimp lo mien, it was pretty good, I’ve had better lo mien.(same complaint about the tails of the shrimp) I am knocking off another star for the fact the menu doesn’t have descriptions, so the other person who ordered with me ordered orange chicken and it was not the traditional breaded deep fried orange chicken, that pretty much everywhere else makes it like. So it wasn’t at all what he wanted and he didn’t end up eating his dinner. So menu descriptions would be helpful especially if deviates from ‘traditional” Also my egg rolls were beyond terrible. Small and dry and chewy and flavorless. (edit stand corrected the menu does describe the orange chicken — just wish it was the traditional breaded deep fried kind) Overall I feel like their menu is a little weird. I wish they had a salad and some delicious ginger/sesame dressing. And I also feel like their portions are small for what you are paying.

This was our second visit to Evergreen and to this restaurant in 5 years — and it did not disappoint. First and most important — NOMSG. I love smart restaurants. We got the Pu Pu Platter appetizers all around and everything was just fantastic. Great fried wontons and skewers of beef, egg rolls, fried shrimp etc. Individually, we got a plate of pork fried rice, a mu shoo pork, and a lemon chicken — and everything was yummy – it took 3 boxes to take the leftovers home, and made a great lite supper the next evening. I can’t remember anything about the atmosphere except that it was very simple — but who cares when the food is this good.

For under $ 14 a person form soup, an appetizer and an entrée, I am not sure you can do much better. The sweet and sour soup was the perfect blend of tart, spicy sour and sweetness, the egg roll was crispy and light and the foil chicken appetizer had a bit of a funky consistency, but a great taste overall. The fried rice and beef and broccoli were typical, nothing to throw a parade in honor of but nothing to turn up one’s nose up at either. A solid choice and a great value with appetizers that leave me to wonder if there isn’t an entrée equally delightful that I just happened to miss and will discover on a future visit. Special bonus: If you like quirky fortunes, you may be in luck. Mine read«One line is shorter than the other.» Ummm… thanks, I guess.
