Everglades City is a small town with really friendly residents! We were on our way home from the keys and stumbled across Leebo’s. I am so glad we did! We were immediately welcomed and it felt like we were already amongst friends. The bar is basically a giant screened patio, with great music, pool table, tables and a bar with a nice view. What more could you ask for. And if you want to hear some good stories about the old«shipments» across the everglades, and where some of these folks got their wealth, this is the place.

There’s not that much going on on the island here as far as nightlife, especially in the off-season but Leebos seems to be the gathering place for the locals. It’s a screened-in bar, concrete floors, pool table and an excellent juke box. Lebo named the bar after a phrase used by fishermen who end up bottom fishing when their regular locations run dry. Leebo and his wife, Rhonda, have been running the place for six and a half years and offer live music at least three days a week. The folks here are real and they care for the place they call home. I learned so much about the 10,000 Islands and the animals habitats. The bar is reasonable, simple bottled beer, wine and at least a bottle of Jack. Next door is an excellent seafood eatery called The Oyster House and I’m sure they share the same clients. If you want a local flavor moment, come on down to Leebos and sit a spell!
