We enjoyed our meal at Hunan Palace. The food was good and the service was excellent. The restaurant appeared in good condition and we were seated quickly. We ordered the Hunan Palace combination for four which was a great value considering the amount of food we received; lots of leftovers for dinner the following day. It’s not the best Chinese restaurant we’ve ever been too, but it’s an excellent option and we’ll be glad to visit again in the future.

I really enjoy this restaurant, I have been coming here for about 5 years and I am always impressed with the food! My favorites are the Mongolian chicken and the Hunan special beef. Plus it is always a great deal at under $ 7 for a lunch special. The servers are a mixed bag. Some are super friendly and some seem a bit annoyed to be at work. But we’ve never had a problem with an order and food is prompt and hot! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Chinese food!

I’ve been here many times over the years as I used to work nearby, but never really enjoyed the food and avoided it as much as possible. I can be a little picky about my Chinese food and always found the inside to be a little dingy. In the past this place did not have any veg options that seemed appetizing. I do know this is a place with a lively karaōke scene, but prefer to avoid drinking in Chinese restaurants. On my most recent visit I finally found something that I really enjoyed and now I keep thinking that I need to go here on more regular basis. In case you are interested it was the tofu and vegetables dish, but my friends enjoyed their almond chicken and bbq’d pork as well. I believe they are still in the entertainment book which will make an already cheap meal a great deal. I do love saving money, but hate to just use coupons to have mediocre food. The lunch specials were really reasonable and available on the weekends which some places do not allow. The service was still not great and the place has not gotten any nicer, but these things I can often ignore in exchange for a tasty meal. We arrived prior to opening time, although the doors were unlocked, and were mostly ignored until finally someone acknowledged and seated us. Our food orders arrived at different times, but eventually all got there. The large fish in the tanks was enough to keep me entertained for most of the meal. There are also a couple pianos which were very attractive to the children in our group. They even had a Christmas tree set up nicely.

I have been going to Hunan Palace since 1997. I have this weird OCD thing where I count the number of times I’ve been in a place. Last night was my 200th time since ’97 eating here. I can say that 3 of those times I was unhappy with the food. But the rest of those times I was quite pleased. Over the years I have brought children and grandchildren, dined with neighbors, friends and various co-workers over those years and this is still, and always will be, my favorite place to eat. Raymond has been a figure head of this place for a long time. Although he can be moody at times…:)(Sorry Raymond) We love the guy and so does my grandson. He and the rest of the staff have always provided great service and great food, minus the 3 times, has always been great. I will continue dining here long into my senior citizen years!

Would be 0 stars if that was an option. Came here for a co-workers birthday and discovered absolutely NOTHING redeeming about this place! Overstocked and stinky fish tanks only add to the sewage smell. Waiter(old guy) incredibly unattentive and unconcerned with patrons needs. Didn’t bother to tell me that the Ma PO Tofu dish had meat in it even after I requested the accompanying rice to be meat free! What little I could eat was HORRID. Something was sour and I just gave up! NEVERAGAIN!!!

I ate at this restaurant because they offered some daily deal coupons. I had eaten there 10 years earlier and had found it to be unimpressive. Groupon emailed me asking me to provide feedback for the restaurant and below is what I wrote. _ Your food is massively overcooked and your waitress was pretty unfriendly. I ate at your restaurant first over 10 years ago. It was OK but not great. I bought my first daily deal coupon and ate there and it was OK. I didn’t order the sweat and sour chicken like I usually do but I did order the almond chicken. Because it was OK, I went back and bought two more Groupons. I ordered take out before using those Groupons and my family found the Sweat and Sour Chicken to be extremely overcooked. The Almond Chicken was a bit overcooked as well. I thought it was just an anomaly but when I came back with the first of the two new Groupons I’d purchased, not only was everything overcooked, your portion size had magically shrunk. I inquired about that and was told that was your normal size. The meal was gross and I was irritated. I still had another Groupon and I was now dreading using it. After a couple of months I found myself in Everett needing dinner so I decided to do it. This time, the portion sizes were a bit better but the food was so overcooked, I almost pulled a cap off of one of my teeth and I encountered the hostile waitress. Your food would probably be OK if you didn’t cook it until the batter was harder than a coconut shell but I guess I’ll never know because I’ll never eat your nasty food again. _ It’s a shame because their prices are OK and their location is convenient and clean. I ate there four times over the space of about three months and the restaurant was nearly empty every time I went in there. I guess I cracked the code on that mystery.

Went for Friday Karaōke. Had some drinks, sang songs, liked the KJ tipped waiter, tipped KJ $ 5. Came back next night for dinner and singing. Was treated very badly by the waiter. Was ignored. Bought $ 25 dinner, food was OK, a little salty. Came to bar with our empty water glasses. Was rudely told it would be $ 3 per glass to fill them back up. I never experienced anything like that. Food was salty, needed the water. Would have ordered beers but left and will never come back. There was also mold growing on the ceiling from a leaking roof. Don’t waste your time or health.

I love their mongolian beef, get it every time. My husband gets curry chicken and pork fried rice. Always good food, service can be hit and miss, but I put up with it.

The food was OK. NOT«good», just OK. We are desperately searching for a Chinese restaurant in the North end that can fill the void left by the closure of Louie’s in North Seattle! Those are huge shoes to fill, and I dont expect anyplace to be THAT good, but living in Marysville, we would like to find a place that’s at least GOOD so we don’t have to drive to the International District in Seattle to get delicious, well-prepared, above-average Chinese! The ambience was destroyed by the horrible, atrocious karaōke, far too loud with far too many people who couldn’t find a note if their lives depended on it. That area should be soundproofed and enclosed separate from the dining area so the rest of us can enjoy a meal without getting indigestion from listening to the horrible singing! Failing that, at least LOWERTHEVOLUME – A LOT – so only the bar gets the«fun.»

So there’s a lot to be desired in this restaurant/karaōke bar(obviously, considering its reviews) but I have to give it a 1⁄5 because… During one of its karaōke nights I was with a group of 18 people, with me being one of the designated drivers. Once I sat down I asked for water. I was given bottled water and as the server put it on the table he says«three dollars!» … Are you kidding?! I asked if I could just have a glass of water and he said«no, we need to make money during karaōke.» Dude! I’ve never been charged for water before, and definitely never treated so rudely for being a DD!

Good food, was a fun place for karaōke. The new DJ is really lame in my opinion. Haven’t gone back since he took over.

Beer was warm and the food was very salty. The service was friendly however, which was a plus. I had the General Tso and sweet and sour chicken and could only taste salt.

Love it, good chinese food almost close to the places i’ve been in So. California. Full bar, good portions of food. Very flavorful! Night life, they HAD a good karaōke night last couple of years but they changed the bartender and karaōke DJ, haven’t been there since it changed. I might be better now but who knows. I recommend this place for your family and friends. Good food!

Been twice to Hunan, both times sitting in the bar side with a group of people to take advantage of their cheap happy hour drinks. They pour a stiff drink, and i believe the happy hour price is around $ 3.00 or so. First visit was good so we went back the following week. Same server, only this time they charged all of those drinking(7 out of 8 people) $ 5.00 per well drink, even though all drinks consumed were well within the happy hour hours. The server was annoyed that this discrepancy was pointed out, but he grudgingly made the change. Returned with fixed receipts and slammed them on the table along with pens to sign the tab. Never been back. And, this place stinks like a fish tank(and yes, they have one). It’s a hard to ignore musty, wet fishy smell and it’s kind of nauseating.

Wow. At first I was hoping for really authentic, but got a huge disappointment after receiving one of their combos(Combo B I think). The combo wasn’t good enough for me to even remember, let alone finish the entire dish. They give you a good amount of food which was great! Unfortunately, there wasn’t anything authentic about it. The pork friend rice was poorly seasoned, sweet and sour pork, something that looked similar to chicken fried steak, and some really weird bean sprouts with cabbage concoction. The dish was way too greasy. I noticed that have a karaōke stage in the restaurant too! I may have to come back during karaōke hours, but I’ll have to pass on the meal.

Hunan’s used to be my favorite Chinese resturaunt. I have not been to this place in over 7 years, and it has sure changed. The service has gone down hill. seems as though the server was very abrasive and pushy. She shoved all the plates of food on the table without asking who’s plate it was. The sweet & sour shrimp was all breading, where is the shrimp??? The almond chicken and fried rice, ummm very very bland! Will not be visiting this establishment again. Sorry Hunan’s you need to change things…

What a unique experience. When my son and I arrived we were behind several groups. The host would seat two groups at once. We were seated the same way. Kinda felt like we were being herded in. Menu looked pretty broad. I ordered one of their combos with hot and sour soup my son ordered some sesame chicken. My soup arrived, and tasted like a beef base soup with what appeared to be pieces of mystery meat. I am guessing that it was made from some of the weeks leftovers. When our entrees arrived, i was a little more hopeful. That passed rather quickly, it was some of the blandest Chinese food I have ever had. My son’s sesame chicken was the same, lacking flavor. We quickly paid the bill, and will not be back.

I have dined at Hunan Palace for many years, not often, but enough to know what to expect. This trip, expectations met, not overly great. The food was nice; however, not terribly original. The service was fine for a restaurant that was almost empty. I am seeking a Chinese restaurant that has very flavorful food, no too much deep fried, and extremely fresh. I did not find that on this trip.

We had excellent service. We had excellent food, with the best Mongolian Beef in town(nice tender large pieces of flank steak), perfectly deep fried shrimp in our sweet and sour shrimp, and very reasonable prices for a family-style dinner(we paid $ 12.70 each for 2 appetizers, 2 cups of soup, 3 entrees, and pork fried rice). Only 4 stars because the floors could have been a little cleaner(although it was later on Saturday evening, after the dinner rush), and the front entry way had an odor of ammonia. The fish are crowded in their large aquariums, but very active and healthy looking, obviously well-fed fish. Will be be back! I’m in love with that Mongolian! AND they have Mochi ice cream on the menu!

I love hunan. It is the only place I go to for Chinese grub. Nothing fancy inside at all. Pretty divey. Stop hating on the fish, I have been coming here for 10 years and those suckers are still alive and kickin. Mings beef. Best thing on the menu. Order it. Cashew chicken is another fav. What really stands out is the service. They know my family in there. We have been brining my son in since he was 2 weeks old. They have watched him grow up and the older man, Raymond, adores him. It’s super adorable to watch the two of them together.
