Erik is a honeyed badass working out of a speakeasy-type garage with a roll-up door. I went with the hubs after hearing a recommendation from the owner of the Bookend Coffee Co, Jen and purchasing a groupon for a tasting. Erik was accommodating in helping me set up a time to come out and it’s an easy spot to get to in Everett. Erik is super knowledgeable about his craft and really personable, happy to chat about the process, his sciency background, the business in general, and his current experiments(cysers, licorice root mead, etc). I love mead and as soon as we run out of the bottles we purchased after the tasting, can’t wait to go back and support this local artisan. In the meantime I’ll just have to sing his praises here!

My husband and I really enjoyed our trip to Aesir Meadery! Its definitely a micro meadery(a one man operation which Erik literally runs out of a garage with an alley entrance), so there aren’t any of those amenities like restrooms or chairs lol, but the mead makes up for it. I also think the atmosphere made it seem more legit than a fancy tasting room. They are planning to move to a better location though. He took us through all the varieties currently available, chatted about mead, what went into each batch, his business, history of mead, etc. You can tell he loves what he does. Very reasonable bottle prices. They are in the running for best«winery» in Western Washington through King 5 news, so stop by, try the mead, buy a bottle or few, and vote if you agree they should win!

If you’ve never had mead before, this is the place to go to try it. I’ve only recently been introduced to it within the last few years and I gotta tell ya, as I try different brewers, this one is always spot on. It’s smooth, heavenly, potent, and just an all around beautiful flavour. Wine drinkers, if you haven’t tasted this, YOUNEEDTO. He’s got different flavours, but start with the traditional and work your way around from there. The mead master(if that a true title). is very helpful and friendly and always willing to discuss how things are done. He’s also priced very well and I love the labels. We play the«what can I see» game when we look at it. Get this stuff, you won’t regret it!!!
