I really love the food here. I was always a fan of the east side location. Now that it’s downtown it’s more convenient for me. I often go at lunch time and sit at the bar. The service at the bar is always fast which is why I sit there if possible. I have had issues with service while sitting in the dining area so I try to avoid it. The bathroom also sucks but considering it use to be a gym not really something to complain about. Love everything else about it.

I’ve been to East side location but haven’t been back there since I found a hair in my OMG sushi roll. Over a year later I decided to give the downtown Zuki a try. First complaint– it was hot and we left smelling like grease. The food upset my stomach terribly. It’s never done that at any other hibachi place. One of my kids didn’t get the soup so we had tell the waiter. Then he didn’t get a salad. We had to tell the waiter. I’m paying for it, so what’s the deal!!! My kids got the hibachi meal no meat. My boyfriend and I got the chicken hibachi meal and the Holy Roll. Three cokes. All together it was $ 77.++ dollars plus $ 7 dollars in tax and that’s not including the $ 11.++ dollar tip they automatically tack on. All together it was $ 95.++ for four of us to eat! A tad ridiculous on the price. I won’t be coming back and won’t recommend it.

Good selection of sushi and hibachi. Reasonable prices, service was good, and enjoyed the overall ambiance.

My girlfriend and I came here for hibachi and sushi. We try to go to eat hibachi as much in every city we are in. This was by far our the best or second best experience we have had anywhere in the country. Shaun was the waiter, he brought us everything extra we asked for and paid attention to every little detail. Jonathan was the hibachi chef, he did the basic hibachi performance, but he also added new things and was very interactive. I would recommend the downtown Zuki to everyone!!!

I was craving for sushi, my dad was looking for a bento box and my cousin was looking for a specific fish(Hamachi Kama or Tuna Collar) and we came to the right place. Service was excellent with well attentive staff, refilling my green tea when necessary. The fatty salmon sushi tasted fresh and desert(banana tempura with ice cream) hit the spot. This place came highly recommended and it definitely hit the spot. I found out that they also have a hibachi grill and now I have another reason to come back. Thanks Zuki !

THEWOMENSRESTROOMISTHEMOSTFRIGHTENINGPLACE I HAVE *EVER* BEEN. –they really should be ashamed of themselves, downstairs, behind a fire door, around and through a hallway with many doors, and an open restroom with strange curtains in other areas. Literally frightening. A Tuesday night in Evansville and was craving sushi. Selection is great and service was just good. Kimchi salad was actually stellar but the sushi had NO flavor. It was better than supermarket sushi, but not by leaps and bounds– and maybe only because it wasn’t in a fridge. Not impressed and won’t ask anyone to go back. Would have been 2.5 stars cuz it was exactly that average without the restroom. Boohoo.

I live downtown, so I’d like to see this place stick around, but unfortunately the service is consistently lacking. I eat here often but mostly get takeout. Even then my oder is often wrong, my sauces are not included, and more often than not I have to ask for something they’ve forgotten or messed up. I have also eaten inside many times and while the atmosphere is nice, and the food is good, if they can get it correct(or get it at all) the service is enough to keep people from coming back. I recently went with some out of town guests who wanted sushi and it was embarrasingly bad. Firstly, no one came to take our drink orders for 20 minutes or more, those who ordered beer had to ask 3 times for our server to bring them, one still didn’t come. Then our food comes and 4 of the 6 of us had to get corrections made. On of our guests ordered a sweet potato roll and it came out as just a regular potato wrapped in rice… when she asked the server she replied«that’s just how they make it.». Then why is it called a SWEET potato roll? while we ate, our second guest asked the server if his appetizer would be out soon, keep in mind we’ve been seated more than an hour. She leaves and comes back to say the order was never placed. It was one thing after another all through dinner. I understand people have bad nights but I’ve had this, and many other servers at Zuki before who seem sub par and unknowledgeable about their products. It’s really disappointing as this could be one of Evansville’s nicest restaurants. I can’t imagine there haven’t been multiple complaints so it is up to management to turn things around. Although their east side location has similar problems so I doubt that is likely.

Food is good, waitress had somewhat of an attitude. My wife had a gift card that she got for liking and commenting on a Facebook page that wasn’t accepted by the female night manager she insinuated that we stole it. The gift card was awarded to my wife by a business called Social Life Marketing who purchased the cards from Zuki, they are a legitimate company and wouldn’t steal them from Zuki. To top everything off one of the staff ran out the front door and started puking by the front corner off the building.

The best sushi in evansville. I eat here often the servers are awesome, the food is great, and the atmosphere is unmatched. If you have guests you aim to impress take them to Zuki downtown, you wont be let down.

Impressed. The building was a bank at some point and there are multiple vaults that add to the décor. The second floor is big and has an abundance of hibachi grills. As requested, the hostess seated us close to the bar to watch sports and our server was excellent. The food was yummy at a reasonable price. Great addition to downtown.

My husband and I have been here twice so far. Service and food have always been good for us. Very poor ventilation so we always leave smelling like grease. We would visit this restaurant more often if the ventilation system was improved.

HORRIBLE and under staffed, which was obvious, and the excuse we got when our party of 12 received the worst service ever! We did have a reservation, so we did get seated right away, but it took us 30 minutes to get our drinks, and when they came, all of the beer was at room temp and not cold. Some of us had asked for water, asked the waitress over 3 times, and never got it. When they finally did bring our food… Only 5 of the 12 in our party were served food… Our waitress never came back to the table to check on us, so at least 30 minutes go by before we were able to ask where the food for the other 7 of us was. Since we had to go to a concert at the Ford Center, we all had to leave hungry and never served. She did take all drinks off the ticket, and only charged us for the food that was served, but we never received an apology, just excuses and reasons why it wasn’t her fault. She even told us that the bar tender, who was angry, decided to throw the stack of order tickets in the trash and ours must have been those, but we never heard an excuse as to why 7 of us never got our food. It was frustrating and unacceptable! The table next to us also experienced a similar issue, so I know it was just us! To top it off… The women’s restroom was out of order because sewage was coming up from the floor and flooded the restroom… GROSS!!! I will NEVER go back! The place is decorated nice and atmosphere is great, but service and working restrooms are important to me!

As of this review, this is arguably the best restaurant in all of downtown Evansville. The ambiance and setting is in its own league. The owner has given enormous attention to detail. I especially appreciate that it is equally appropriate for both couples and large groups. The Hibachi grills are always popular, but there is ample space both downstairs and upstairs for larger groups. The food is exquisite. I admit that I’m not the biggest fan of sushi, so that might make me unqualified for a review, but from my friends who are they all say it’s great and can hold its own with any other. If there is a weakness with Zuki, it’s that its popularity and traffic can sometimes outpace the amount of servers they have. As result, service can occasionally — though rarely — be slow. This is rare enough, and so far outweighed by the ambiance and food, that it deserves the five stars I’ve given it here. If you’re visiting downtown or a native, this is a must-stop for Evansville.
