Stopped in here on the way back from St. Louis. I have seen the sign advertising Amish cooking for years but had never taken the plunge. Glad I did. This is sort of like a smaller Cracker Barrel, but with a buffet. The food was plentiful and delicious, especially the fried chicken, chicken and dumplings and stuffing. There was also a full salad bar, lots of veggies and sides like mashed potatoes and a dessert area with pies, cakes and ice cream. I got a slice of pecan pie, because why not? Service was fast and friendly. The buffet was $ 14, plus another $ 2 for iced tea. Not super cheap, but there was so much food you definitely get your money’s worth. There are not many options for dining between Louisville and St Louis on I-64. This may be your best bet. Come hungry!

The first times we were here it was excellent. This time I was disappointed. It seems they may have changed owners or something. The vegetables and chicken were still good, but something’s were below par. Mashed potatoes were not creamy and tasted sour, as if they’d used sour cream instead of milk. Even the bread seemed to not have flavor anymore. The bathroom stank like sewer and turned my stomach. I’m sad because we always liked stopping here. Or maybe it was just not a good day.

The food was better than expected after reading a few reviews. Maybe the ones who provided bad reviews own a competing business? The fried chicken and green beans were delicious! Tasted like Sunday at grandmas house. Good salad bar. They had fantastic tasting home made bread, both wheat and white. My parents loved the apple butter provided for the bread. My uncle thought the potato soup was great. The only negative is the pie did not taste homemade at all. That part didn’t really bother me though because I am not much into sweets. As far as the décor hanging on the wall and having a price tag; we didn’t really care. Maybe local artists are providing those crafts and for that I think it’s pretty cool. Just don’t buy it if you don’t want it. That simple. The restaurant was clean and smelled really good when you walked in the door. Over all great experience. We left satisfied with full bellies!

Great selection of items. Multiple buffets, a salad bar, vegetable bar, main courses and desert bar. Reasonable prices and great service staff. Worth the stop.

The fried chicken was pretty good. Otherwise? Allow me… Imagine, if you will, one of those oversized casino buffets. Remove the Chinese and Italian stations. Shrink the fresh veggie/salad area. Expand the«middle of the road, All-American» portion of the buffet. You have created Stoll’s Country Inn South. But wait! It’s supposed to be AMISH food! Maybe it’s Amish-style. Maybe it’s Amish-inspired. Maybe it’s called Amish because someone hung a quilt on the wall and is pretty sure the Amish won’t sue them. Maybe the Amish sneak away at night, park their buggies behind casinos and eat at the buffet. I don’t know. All I can tell you is that none of the folks working there gave me any reason to believe an Amish person had ever walked through the door. It’s generic buffet food. Except it isn’t really that good. WOULDYOULIKETHATUNBEARABLYSALTYORCOMPLETELYFLAVORLESS? Again, the fried chicken was above-average. Beyond that, every single thing on the buffet was either insanely salty or nearly flavorless. They had these breaded, bone-in pork chops. They looked pretty good. They tasted like salt licks. Other things were merely adventures in softish-rubbery texture. Nothing in between. THECOLDERTHECOBBLER, THELESSTHEY’LLEAT! They have some fruit cobblers for a post-meal sweet. They looked okay. They were in those handy buffet devices that allow restaurants to keep food warm. They were not warm. They were not lukewarm. The cobbler was cold. I passed. THAT’S A PARTICULARLYCREEPYPIEYOUHAVETHERE… Okay, one of my daughters unknowingly grabbed a piece of something akin to mincemeat pie. At least that’s my guess. She was not happy with it. I hate to waste stuff. I decided I might choke it down, as I dodged the cold cobbler. The pie was freaking creepy. The thick, gelatinous interior goop was just plain weird. The flavor was exceedingly bland and inoffensive, but the texture… Ugh. It’s not just the food that bugged me. The lousy«New Country» radio station that’s piped into the place was an irritant. I didn’t know the Amish gathered to listen to Jason Aldean Chesney Florida Lady Line Antebellum Toby Jackson Whatever as part of their usual dining routine. Every freaking thing in the place has a price tag on it. The walls are packed with those way-too-corny sorta country-style plaques that feature bible verses or cliches about mom’s kitchen. And every last one of those decorations has a little string with an inflated price tag on it. Why decorate when you can«sell-o-rate», right? Oh, the gift shop. Hilarity. Some Amish-ish jams and jellies that they don’t make. It’s white label stuff. If you read the label it’s «made for» Stoll’s by someone. Some Amish-y cookbooks. More downhome country b.s. trinketry. And then a ton of generic gift shop stuff. Like sock-slippers and stuffed animals. Because nothing says Amish culture more than kicking back in sock-slippers while playing with a stuffed pink unicorn. I’m sure Amish like warm feet and fuzzy toys, but that’s not really what you’re thinking when you see those billboards with the horse-drawn buggy. The fried chicken was above-average, though. These people are good marketers. They toss the word«Amish» around. They put up some big ol’ interstate billboards that make the idea of an Amish buffet seem like a fine way to break up the monotony of a long car ride. Then, they sell sell sell and don’t worry about the chow too much. The price point? About like a casino buffet. The service? Gotta admit, the person who seated us and the person who took care of our drinks and plates were both attentive, reasonably personable and efficient. I have no gripes with them at all. Stoll’s found a way to make the margarine(no butter?) for your allegedly Amish-inspired bread too salty. They also discovered some secret Amish-influenced mayo that makes potato salad flavorless. Someone in the back can make fried chicken, though. Oh, the kids thought it was okay. But they love macaroni and cheese, so take that for what it’s worth. And for those who proclaim this as the best fried chicken ever… Ya’ll need to get out more. Just sayin’.

Fried meat, mayonnaise based«salads,» and bacon-enhanced vegetables… I’m glad I don’t eat like this everyday but man, oh man, I’m glad we stopped here. Yum! Everything we tried was delicious! My family devoured fried chicken, sausage and sauerkraut, broccoli salad, and LOTS of cobbler. The waitstaff was quick on water refills and happy to answer my questions about ingredients. I’m stuck eating gluten-free, which usually makes me sad at buffets because of all things I can’t eat. But at Stoll’s, there were plenty of options. And when I asked if the cornmeal dusted fish had any flour, the manager said it did… but then insisted on making me fresh, cornmeal-only fish! SO delicious. We stopped on our drive between Virginia and Colorado and would definitely stop again.

I would like to give this restaurant a sixth star if there were one more sts here:)This restaurant is amazing! First of all, the food here is out of the world. Fried chicken-the least greasy but the crispiest outside and the most moist inside, farm fresh taste of the chicken is absolutely unforgettable. Then the pork chop-the best pork chop I’ve ever had, fresh, soft, and moist. Then the fried cat fish and cod, the corn meal coating is just right so the light crust outside is crispy and fish inside is fluffy and tasty. Let alone that all of them are seasoned extremely well. Of course, their sides bar and salad bar are amazing as well: one of the sides is sour kraut cooked with sausages – the sour kraut is homemade! Not as sour as the store bought ones, just enough acidity to break down the chopped homemade fresh sausage cooked in it so they balance each other out perfectly. There were two kinds of gravy: country gravy with homemade sausages in it, and turkey gravy with real turkey in it! I can never find this authentic gravy anywhere. Homemade bread, homemade deserts, to name a few more. The establishment is very very clean and is being kept clean by the staff diligently. And don’t forget visiting the attached store where you can find all kinds of handmade/homemade products. We bought 6 bottles of their homemade jam and they are of different flavors, and I wish we could buy one of each flavor there but there were just soooo many flavors and we had to drive a long distance which prohibited us from adding more load to our vehicle. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I can’t say enough great things about this restaurant, but to hope to go there again.

We were in Evansville on business, and one of our friend recommended this restaurant. I am not a buffet type of guy but this place is amazing. It sits in the middle of a farm, the restaurant is very cozy, food here is fresh. The fried chicken is to die for the best I ever had, the pork chops were so tasty, moist and cooked just right. Best pork chop I ever had. Homemade bread, and all the vegetables were cooked fresh. Great salad bar and amazing sweet tea. I got a glanse at the kitchen it was very clean. Good service, friendly staff and owners. My wife and I went for dinner but we loved it so much we went back for lunch and dinner the next day. I am not sure when or if I will go back to Indiana but if we do, I will visit this restaurant again. I strongly recommend this restaurant.

Fried chicken and desserts were AMAZING. Service was ok. The waitress was more concerned with who had which day off, and asked us questions from across the room and behind our backs we had to turn around to hear or answer her. The food was a little bland but with a buffet you can’t please everyone. I would have given 4 stars however when my husband went to pay and I went to browse the gift shop(planning to buy) the waitress hollered over to someone«those people didn’t leave me a tip» another answered«nothing?» Right as my husband came back after paying(and breaking a 20 to be able to give her a tip)… My husband has worked in the food service biz as a corporate trainer he said her behavior was always a great way to be sent home.

Had a good lunch with family for the holiday. The fried chicken was really good. I think the best I have had. I also enjoyed the catfish! I thought the rest of the selections were just okay. The corn was chewy, the noodles bland, the greens also weren’t good. The fresh baked bread was awesome and I thought the peach cobbler was really good, but it was cold. We were in town visiting so I doubt I would come back even if we were back down that way.

Pretty good food. The chicken was good. Veggies over cooked. Thought the bread was the best part. Friendly service.

Worst food in the history of ever. The only thing that makes it Amish that I can see is the homemade bread and a few things they sell in the store part. Salad bar was all canned and premade stuff. Will not return.

Was passing through town and anytime I’m away from home I’m always looking for different places to eat. Seen the billboards for this place and wanted to give it a try since it said Amish Buffet. Upon arrival staff was very friendly, building was clean and nice. The food smelled good so I was excited to try it. I like to try everything so I get a little bit of this and that. After taking the first bite I was disappointed. This wasn’t amish made food it was the standard buffet food. It had some high point though. The fried chicken was very tasty. The green beans and corn was from a can that they tried to season to make better. Meatloaf was a heart attack on a plate. Grease just poured off it. Roastbeef was tough. Apple butter was amazing. This place is mediocre at best. Guess I’m just used to true home cooking.

Horrible restaurant. Canned vegetables, margarine instead of butter for their stale bread, nothing remotely Amish here except for the fried chicken recipe perhaps. Avoid this restaurant at all costs.

We are passers through, and I think this place is just… OK. THE staff is nice, the facility is very spacious and clean. The food is what makes it just ok. The buffet food is under seasoned, except the fried chicken. The fried potatoes are pretty good too. As far a s the price, I guess it’s not bad(10.95/adults) the kids were free today so that was a plus… but the price was bad for the amount of choices and quality.

This is a no frills simple country food restaurant. The food is just like our parents and grandparents cook. Fried chicken, fried fish, ham, pork chops, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans. Even stewed tomatoes. A nice salad bar and plenty of desserts including 2 cobblers and 4 or 5 pies. Fresh homemade white and wheat bread. The manager, the owner’s son, stopped by the table and gave us some pointers about sights to see at the next stop in our travels. All around good food and pleasant atmosphere.

About the only restaurant around on I-64 besides fast food. Food was OK; buffet price was reasonable. Quality of the food was blah. I’m not sure what Amish cooking is, but I doubt this place fits the mold. Fried chicken and some of the fish dishes were good. I can pass on the canned vegetables. Desserts were a disappointment.

This place has some really good stuff and some things we didn’t care for nearly as much. The fried chicken and fried fish were both delicious. The mac & cheese and chicken & noodles were also yummy. The pie selection was bountiful if pedestrian. They even have a microwave next to the cobbler in the event you want to nuke it and add soft-serve. The fresh baked bread and apple butter is also not to be missed. No one liked the stuffing and they really should have had real butter available as well. Also, the salad bar was kinda weak. Note: this place is apparently a favorite of fat people, blue hairs, and(on kids eat free Wednesdays) full of screaming children. Not that any of this makes it a bad place but rather a warning that if you are looking for fine dining or ambiance you are in the wrong place.
