Thanksgiving buffet was something you’d see on «Kitchen Nightmares.» Pumpkin pie burned. Gravy, stuffing, cobbler, cranberry sauce, and turkey empty for 15+ minutes. Chicken and dumplings pure broth. Drinks not refilled. Table took 5 minutes and 10 people to set… for 4 guests.

Uhh worst meal EVER. home sick tonight! The service was great. Even the waitress was apologetic when the food was served. My 87 yr old Mom used to go here all the time years ago. Used to be great. Now … Debating if we should go to hospital. REALLYTHATBAD. I manage four restaurants in California and two restaurants in Hawaii and I am very forgiving with inconsistency in other restaurants’s culinary presentations. But if I have to contemplate taking my 87 yr old mother to the hospital, all bets are OFF! I’ve come back to add this … I did not get the seafood Friday night buffet. I saw it. Looked good I probably should’ve taken the seafood buffet but ordering off the menu was not good!

Seafood buffet on Friday nights. Had my first«fiddler» here(it’s basically a whole fried catfish). I’m not a huge fan of catfish, but this was pretty awesome. Their award banners for«best fiddlers» are deserved. The rest of the buffet was OK. The fried chicken was good, and the other seafood was pretty much fried. Crab legs are too much work for me to be worth the trouble, and that seems to be the attraction here. The place was strangely quiet for a Friday night. Granted the place is in the middle of nowhere, but I’ve heard it used to be very popular, so it was odd to be the only ones in the dining room at one point in the night. Service was good.

If you ever find yourself in Evansville, IN on a Friday night, make sure you go west on Diamond Avenue and turn down New Harmony Lane. Follow that to the Old Mill Restaurant for a Seafood Buffet that’s hard to beat. It’s very reasonably priced and includes Crab Legs and fresh caught Fried Catfish. It is, in fact, an old mill and the main dining room floor kind of tilts and creaks when you walk on it, but it is an eclectic country delight and a dining experience you should really try. I’m going with 4 stars.
