People of all ages making pots, finishing, glazing and having a very good time. Great teachers who will help you amaze yourself. Forty years and still going strong.

Was able to accommodate an adult function(birthday/baby/bridal) on short notice. Party under 10 people had a good time and everyone got to make something. Was able to bring in food and drinks. Plenty of room for everything. Would give more stars if allowable.

The classes are great! Dominic has been teaching 30+ years. I’ve been taking them since 2004 and make all sorts of pottery now. Don’t want to create? Stop by and check out the gallery, beautiful stuff at reasonable rates.

I went here for a Bridal Shower, and it was a lot of fun. We all made bowls or turtles, which was easy enough. The bridal party was allowed to bring in food and set up ahead of time, and it was a great space to mingle. It was sunny on our visit, so the sunlight coming into the work area of the shop was really great. I thought the instructor was a great mix of sassy and informative.

Wonderful experience with Dominic and the Pot Shop in creating gifts for our bridal party that are gorgeous and one of a kind. We love the items that Dominic helped us to create, and cannot speak highly enough of this place, and the quality customer service that we recieved. Check it out, you’ll be happy that you did. Thanks again!

Sorry Susan that you had such an unfortunate experience. I am that assistant that helped you out. If you gave it a chance, you could have done just fine. The class can not be that bad as those who came to the first class with you are still coming and enjoying the classes very much. The Pot Shop classes are often filled and the next session is filling up too! We even just had a spot on the U’s Morning Show Around The Block! Check us out!

I was really excited about taking a class here, since I had purchased pieces from the gallery and like learning new things. Unfortunately, while the first two classes of the session went fine, the rest of the session was a bust. Although the owner/teacher clearly knows his stuff, he lacks the patience to deal with learners who ask questions, learn in other ways – it’s hard for some learners to be shown 30 minutes worth of technique on the wheel and then emulate them – and don’t immediately catch on. I’ve never met a teacher who is so defensive and hostile towards students who ask questions or make mistakes. He had a one-size-fits-all approach, was sarcastic, and made snide comments. Even asking where to place a work-in-progress earned me «what, are you an idiot?» looks from the guy. I finally learned a couple of basic techniques when I attended a make-up class one evening and his assistant helped me out, but will have to learn pottery somewhere else. Big bummer, since I met some really nice people there. Then again, I’ve heard the Evanston Art Center offers way better classes.

I’ve walked past for a couple years and finally decided to sign up for classes. So glad I did! Dominic and the instructors are very friendly and knowledgeable and make each class fun and entertaining. The space is brightly lit and open and the wheels face each other in a row which makes for a great view during demonstrations. The classes are 3 hours which fly by way too fast. Fortunately there are open studio hours for students outside of scheduled classes and during class if there are wheels available. Overall, this is a fabulous place to take classes if you’ve ever had any interest in learning how to throw pottery on a wheel.

I am reviewing the pot shop classes since I ahve not purchased anything at the store. This is a great pottery class(i took beginners, am starting intermediate). Dominic is very friendly and adapts very well to the different level of the students. The atmosphere is very friendly and every body learns from each other. What I love about these classes is that you have access to the workshop when it is open and they are opened until 9pm or 10pm most weekdays because they hold classes. I am soo glad the potshop is here!

Dominc, the owner is very nice. Incredibly friendly staff. Beautiful pottery made in house. I’ve even taken a few classes and learned a lot. I have many pottery pieces that I made during that time. They made wonderful gifts to my family. Classes are a lot of fun and you do learn a lot.
