City of Evanston Chandler – Newberger Community Center

During my son’s winter break, he was itching to get out and about. Luckily, I found out about the Artic Winter Break classes and he has been loving it! He’s been coming home with fun stories to share about what he did and how fun his camp teachers are. It’s a wonderful concept and the Chandler Newberger Center is a really great location. I will definitely be taking advantage of camp when his regular school is on break.
The Chandler Newberger Center has a huge parking lot and is also right off of the Central Purple Line stop. We’ve also attended birthday parties here which are wonderful and well set up, too.

GYMNASTICS LESSONS
My daughter went here for gymnastics for a year before she decided to swap gymnastics for dance. The gymnastics program is really good. The instructors emphasize fun and safety. The most affordable gymnastics program in Evanston.
SPORTS CAMP — SUMMER 2008
Very good camp. There a good variety of activities — mostly outdoors. The last day of camp was a field trip to Six Flags Great America and I volunteered to chaperon. It was great to see the wonderful relationships that the counselors and the kids had developed over the summer. My daughter liked it a lot and asked to go again next year. The only negative was that they were telling ghost stories one day and one of the counselors told a story that was too scary for 6 – 7 year-​olds and my daughter couldn’t sleep that night.
CHESS WIZARDS CHESS CAMP — SUMMER 2008
Loved it! My daughter came home with all these narratives about how each chess piece can move. We will definitely do this camp again!
