4 stars for food. –3 stars for service. 1 stars total. I come here with coworkers 1x week for our Cheesie’s fix, and each week we sit back and laugh at how it takes them, on average, 30 – 40 minutes to make a grilled cheese sandwich. That said, we have an hour lunch, so we wolf down the usually tasty food in the last 15 minutes we can spare and rush back to work without much of an issue. For the record, it’s NEVER crowded in here — so the excessive wait cannot be blamed on that. I think the most people I’ve ever counted in a single visit is 10 – 12 people total. I will make you 10 – 12 grilled cheese sandwiches right now, in 1⁄3 the time their college-aged-idiot staff can. Watch me! I dare you! Anyways, what finally drove me to be the South-Park-esque Unilocal douche-critic you’re witnessing occurred today. I walked into Cheesie’s at roughly 12:05; the time-stamp on my receipt said my order was placed at 12:10. I figured I had plenty of time to eat and get back before my 1pm meeting at work since there were even fewer patrons than normal — less than ten total. To my surprise(okay, I wasn’t THAT surprised), at approximately 12:50, I politely asked for an update on my sandwich as I had to be back at work in ten minutes. The blank-stare from the employee told me all I needed to know. «Whaaat? Sandwich??? Work??? I’m too stoned to comprehend, well, anything bruh. Can you ask an easier question? What’s your favorite vape-flavor?». I know, employee, I know. Grilled Cheese is hard. But in the meantime, can you let me know if I can expect to eat lunch today? Long story short, I left the restaurant without my food so I could get back for my meeting. Luckily, one of my coworkers could afford to stay behind and wait for my food(to-go, now) for me. It may be worth mentioning that the team tossed in a second sandwich into my to-go bag when I finally received it at 1:30pm. A nice gesture, perhaps, but who in the hell can eat two of these things? Especially considering it’s now cold, soggy and disgusting. It’s obvious the staff is a bunch of college kids who don’t give a s**t about anything other than cashing their part-time checks in exchange for some natty-lights. I get it. I’ve been there. Though, we didn’t have snapchat to document our on-fleek nights with bae and fam(#squadgoals). Anyways, I digress… Our 1x weekly Cheesie’s team decided today that we are done with Cheesie’s Wednesday ritual for a while. It just isn’t worth it anymore. At least now my cholesterol will go back down. My girlfriend thanks you for that, Cheesie’s.

Nothing but 5 stars!!! I ordered a «The Melt». When I got it, I inspected sandwich and noticed there was bacon in it. I guess the cashier /manager noticed I was picking out the bacon and he offered to make me one without. I forgot to mention my dietary restriction to him when ordering but he told me «no worries, takes 5 minutes to make you a new one». Totally happy with the service, the product and most of all, customer service!!! Thanks, Cheesie’s!!!

The best late night snack! I came here with a bunch of friends at 1am and ordered the«Mac» and it was delicious! Mac and cheese can be made multiple ways but I loved how it tasted! It was the perfect amount of cheese and butter! It was not overpowering with cheese and it was not salty! My boyfriend ordered the«Frenchie» and since they didn’t have any bacon left, they replaced it with chorizo and he loved it! One down side is there is no air-conditioning, or there wasn’t on the day we went. It was a hot evening and we were all sweating inside while waiting for our orders to come out. This place currently offers a groupon. I would highly recommend trying this place if you are in the Evanston area! It probably is a ton of calories but I think it was worth it!

I’ve been to Cheesie’s twice in the last month. I like the décor, and I like the menu choices. I have to wonder though, how does a place called Cheesie’s run out of American cheese – especially when it is surrounded by grocery stores where mass quantities of American cheese can be purchased any time, day or night? Yet, they unapologetically let us know that they were out of American Cheese that day. The previous time we visited, they were out of a whole laundry list of items: tomatoes, jalapenos, and mac and cheese. A Caprese sandwich without tomatoes is just another grilled cheese sandwich. I found that out the hard way. Both visits were right after they opened for the day, so it’s not like they had run out near closing time, which might be understandable. They were slow both times too. This last time we watched the customer in front of us wait a good 15 – 20 minutes before the server brought her one small paper lunch bag of food. Our order didn’t follow for another 5 – 10 minutes after that. There were only three customers counting us in the place(two the first time we visited). The staff was fine. They checked on us after our food was served to make sure everything was okay. Cheesie’s I want you to do better!

It took 45 minutes to get 3 sandwiches, and most of the tables were empty. And then the order was not right. They did not apologize for the time it took to make 3 grilled cheese sandwiches or the fact that the order was wrong.

5 stars for the food. 1 for the service. The cashier failed to tell us that the combo was only offered during lunch and then swiped the credit card before we could tell her we didn’t want drinks afterall. Then there was no ice in the ice machine, and all of the sodas were flat. When we alerted the staff, it seemed like an inconvenience to them. There were two men sitting and laughing at the bar, and it was only until after our meal that I realized that one of them was the manager. Just poor customer service overall. My sandwich was great though. I got the Caprese with tater tots, and it was delicious. We’ll probably go to another location next time.

Apparently they don’t have the staff/ability to cook multiple grilled cheese at a time. The line was about 14 people deep and they straight up stopped taking orders because they were«too busy»…you make one kind of food how hard can it be to make multiple sandwiches at a time when that’s all you produce? Over an hour wait? Absurd. To top it off, the sandwiches we ordered were mediocre at best — the bread was barely grilled and at $ 8-$ 9 a sandwich that seems ridiculous. I always get so hype about the concept of cheesies and give it another try in hopes that it might be be better this time, but they never fail to disappoint.

This is the worse restaurant I’ve EVER been to. The person taking our order was a complete«B»!!! They were out of ALL salads, out of fried pickles, out of soup… seriously??? Our table was never cleaned off or cleared from the previous customer, the food took FOREVER! I’m sitting here right now and they locked the doors at 3:30 in the afternoon. I guess out of food on a Saturday afternoon. I won’t be stepping foot back into this place!

This place have been on my list for several years. If it’s on your list, don’t wait, go now!!! It’s not like any sandwich place I’ve been. The menu was very diverse and the choice was difficult to make. Every selection sounded yummy. It’s all basically grilled cheese sandwiches on Texas toast. Sides of fries or tater tots. Soups too. My daughter got the Mac n cheese grilled cheese. She loved it, but it’s a big sandwich. She only ate half. Lunch for me. I ordered something that was AWSOME. It had chicken /bbq sauce /spicy kick. I loved it. I shouldn’t have eaten the whole thing, but it was so good… Couldn’t help myself. The seasoned fries were also super tasty. I have to go back to try some others. Not an «inexpensive» kids place. The sandwich /fries /drink set me back $ 12 or so… But after eating, I can say it was a value. This place rocked.

This is for a delivery order placed via GrubHub. This is a genius idea and works well as a restaurant. It may seem like a gimmick but it’s tasty and really hits the spot. We ordered the infamous The Tenderizer, The Caprese and cheese curds. Both sandwiches were outstanding. Great ingredients and thick Texas toast. The Tenderizer was very filling and the chicken tenders were a great touch. Though ironically enough, the different types of cheese did not stand out. But all in all it made for a great meal. They have so many different options that this will be a regular stop for us.

There should be a Cheesie’s within 5 miles of every college. It’s perfect wasted, stoned, or adderall-addled food. It’s also way better than you’d expect from a place like that. Everything we had was gooey and yummy and comforting, but a touch more sophisticated than melted cheese on butter soaked bread. Not too much more sophisticated, mind you, just a touch. When we went there, it was slammed. Slammed. I put slammed twice because it was really busy. There seemed to be only one person taking orders and one person running food. We had to wait an outrageously long time to get our food, and many tables around us seemed pretty perturbed. Eh. We didn’t have anything better to do. I don’t really think anyone has a right to get too uppity at place that only serves grilled cheeses. They have a nice bar, but there were a bunch of cleaning products sitting on it when we were there. Which was unfortunate, as there were many people waiting for a place to sit. No one seemed too eager to put their plate next to a bottle of windex and a bleach soaked rag. Gah-rosss! Anyways. Food was good, service was bad but very friendly. Low expectations exceeded! Also… place was packed with college kids. College kids are loud and annoying. In case you didn’t know that.

Cheesie’s is my go to place at 1am when most places are closed. I once went 4 times within a week, no shame. Yes it’s greasy, but who comes here to eat healthy?¿ Everything on the menu is good, but I put special emphasis on reccomending the Tenderizer. It consists of cheddar cheese, mozzarella, chicken tenders, and bbq sauce, sandwhiched between glorious slices of texas toast. It goes well with a nice side of seasoned fries or sweet potato fries. The chicken tenders are always a good option if you aren’t feeling like eating a sandwhich.

It’s a sandwich shop called Cheesies. It serves grilled cheese. Need I say more? I would recommend the Tenderizer sandwich with some Chicken Enchilada soup. Hits the spot every time.

Cheesie’s fucking rocks. The food is awesome even for someone like me who isn’t a big fan of cheese. It’s much higher quality than you’d expect for a grilled cheese shop/bar that’s open late. It’s true good food. Plus the staff is super nice and accommodating, and way friendly. I’d highly recommend this place, especially late at night.

Always wanted to try this place out, but really didn’t have any idea what to expect except for the cheese. I thought it was going to be more of a bar type restaurant but it’s more like a fast food ordering spot where you walk in, place your order and then sit down and wait for the food to come out. I have to say the menu is a bit limited, I was expected cheese entrees with meat options added but only a few sandwiches are with chicken breast, there are no hamburger or other meat options. I ordered the sandwich of the month that had cheeses, chicken breast, red peppers and artichoke hearts and was sadly disappointed by the amount of chicken in the sandwich(next to none). The sandwich had more artichoke hearts than anything else. For $ 9.50 the sandwich was hardly worth the cost for just some cheese and artichoke hearts. I basically left the place feeling hungry still and went to Joy Yee’s to get me a smoothie to quench my appetite. Not worth another trip back to Cheesie’s.

I visit Cheesie’s here and there because I love the Popper grilled cheese! It’s the best of the best when it comes to comfort food, and sometimes I just crave it. The last time I was in, though, I noticed the service has gone drastically down hill. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. Toilet paper on the floor, no soap whatsoever. It reeked of urine. I was actually nervous to finish my food because if the bathroom had no soap, how did the people that were cooking my food was their hands? Yeah. Ew. There was only one other table of people eating, and the only guy working FOH was just sitting at the bar watching football… Not sure if I’ll go back to this location.

Go on Wednesdays! They have half off on sandwiches if you buy it with a side. Pretty decently priced. I got the Caprese, which was just mozzarella and tomatoes. But it was good! I got the sweet potato fries, but they were cold. I usually love sweet potato fries, so that was pretty disappointing.

Whenever I enter, the smell of stale grease hits me instantly and I immediately gag… I really don’t know why this place is so popular. I guess there is a thrill for those who love disgustingly greasy cheese sandwiches submerged in more grease. I’ll also give it credit for being somewhat clean. I honestly end up getting the tenderizer whenever here — after all, everything is disgustingly greasy, so might as well get the most enjoyable option. To be fair, the sandwich itself is not terrible(discounting the grease), and the flavors of bacon with cheese and a chicken tender mesh together pretty well. Cheese curds are, like everything else, super greasy. They’re not terrible, but very greasy. Basically, my stomach is not happy the next morning whenever I come here. To be very honest, the only reason I come here is when I get outvoted by grease-loving friends(blech). But one very important note — Wednesdays are good days, as everything is half off! One of the very few times when I’m grudgingly willing to swallow the voice of my stomach’s conscience in order to ram a sandwich down my throat. Otherwise, the price does not justify anything at all. For ~$ 8, you can get much better food.

That atmosphere is really cool and the food was good. I wouldn’t say it was really that great and I was quite disappointed with the tomato soup. I ordered the Napolean which was supposed to have crumbled bleu cheese and I didn’t and I felt like they skimped on the bacon big time. $ 9 for a cheese sandwich and not enough bacon? Disappointing.
