Don’t expect the same quality of sushi that you get at places where you pay $ 10 for 2 pieces of nigiri, but this place is good. The deserts were lacking and I didn’t finish the chocolate pudding, but I don’t think anyone expects great sweets at a sushi buffet. When you want to be a glutton and stuff your face with seafood this is the best place around. I’ll be going back for sure.

I LOVETHISPLACE… If you love sushi like I do this is the place. It’s a sushi buffet with a small amount of cooked food on the side and a small desert bar as well. The sushi ranges from cooked and raw. There is also a small bar in the front as you walk in. Very nice clean place. I will be back

Although reviews are mixed and I’m not big on their Sushi(though a co-worker of mine prefers this Sushi over others for their sheer variety) If you do truly like variety they do have it, but I like the fact that they have the grill and buffet as well. Great place to go with a group, because again the three choices and isolated dining areas for groups when reserved ahead of time. I’ve been here for lunch and dinner and twice with a very large group and it hasn’t disappointed. They have steak, shrimp, etc at the grill. They have traditional Asian dishes on the buffet and a myriad of Asian deserts. It’s one price for the buffet and grill add a little more to include the Sushi. It’s a casual dining experience for the masses, not your special corner nook. Excellent for families with small children.

The sushi was great. The hot foods are delicious too and the staff was very nice. For a price of $ 10.95, you can have all the sushi you want plus the hibachi grill and other foods like dessert and other Asian food. I would highly recommend eating at this place, plus they also have Japanese soda(Ramune) here too.

Folks, let’s not forget what this place is: A sushi buffet. Yes, an American invention to feed the obese and over eaters has replaced fried chicken and pot roast with, you guessed it, sushi… I mean, after that statement, I don’t need to add more– but I will. It’s a buffet. Of course things are going to sit out; of course the food is going to be a little questionable; of course a few people are going to get sick– It’s the nature of the beast. I have been to this location multiple times. Do you know why I go back? Probably not so let me tell you. I go back because I like to eat. For a grand total of $ 11.83 for lunch, I get full, fat and happy. Is the sushi great? By no means. Is it good? Sometimes… I have eaten some questionable things there. A little piece of advice: if you want fresh, top-shelf sushi, don’t go to a sushi buffet. The sashimi is always a little off color and you can tell that they use dyed salmon and tuna, but again, I am paying $ 11.83 for it. Some of the nicer places in town(not name dropping but it starts with a T-a-k-o) do the exact same thing. We’re in Augusta, GA… Just sayin’… To wrap up my thoughts, if you don’t want questionable sushi, sashimi, or other Asian favorites, don’t go there. If you want to eat a lot of food, leave feeling like you’ve done your job as an American to consume mass amounts of everything that makes this country the best country in the world– give it a shot!

An expensive ok. Pretty much sums up the review for me. Most of the place is sushi so if you like that, they’re you go. If you’re not a fan of sushi, your money is better spent elsewhere.

Fresh seafood/sushi buffet in Augusta? Yes, please! We had a group on a Friday night and we were seated right away. Nice ambiance and great selection of foods. I recommend this if you’re having huge seafood cravings while you’re in town! No regrets!!!

Sashimi, sushi, every kind of roll I’ve heard of. Even a section with hot food. Crab legs, too. OK. This is not the best place in this area for sushi. For the price, however, you can’t beat it. If you’ve never had sushi, this is the place to go. Since it is buffet style, you don’t have to worry about paying $ 10 for a dragon roll only to find out you don’t like eel. And if you find out you love eel, you can get even more.

This place is a godsend for the Augusta area. There isn’t much of a food scene, so when Izumi opened, it was huge news. I love sushi so when I found out a sushi BUFFET was coming it was a huge deal. The actual building is like an old chinese buffet or something, so the seating arrangements are very reminiscent to that of its old tenant i suppose. This place doesn’t feel upscale or anything, it is still a buffet. But the food is actually very good. I usually am a loud opponent against buffets: the concept, the quality of food, the prices, all of it. But Izumi managed to impress me in that it was still pretty solid quality. They had tuna tataki! And oysters and crab legs! And sashimi! Now is it the BEST sushi I’ve ever had? Of course not. But it’s very very decent. And they have a huge variety of rolls available so it’s great. I’m not having to go back to the same one thing like I usually do at other buffets(I tend to gravitate to the sweet and sour chicken and egg drop soup at chinese buffets. –___-) Dessert section leaves a lot to be desired, as does the non-sushi fare like their soups, noodles, and fried rice. But hey, you go for the sushi when you’re at a sushi buffet, am I right? So if you’re in Augusta, Izumi is near the top of my list of recommendations.

I have not had a bad experience here. The staff is great, the food is really good for a buffet. The price is really great, lunch time is the best deal for the money. And they have a nice grill for those that don’t like sushi. Yummoh.

This is our spot. When i am craving sushi and other japanese delectables my husband and 1 come here! The varieties of the sushi is great. They are clearly displayed and have all the sashimi, sushi, edamame, and hibachi you can eat. I do not normally eat hibachi at an asian grill, however, this hibachi is so fresh and flavorful and the meats never smell or look like they have been out all day begging to be adopted into your stomach… The staff is the friendliest and most helpful i have encountered anywhere. ANDITISCLEANTOO! I made a small mistake… and asked for sweet and sour sauce for the tempura… the response was so hilarious it was the talk of the night… the waiter gave me a clutched pearls offended look and said…“this not Chinese… this Japanese”. I stared because i mean i apologize but sweet and sour sauce is a staple in asian foodery. He was clearly a bit offended and my husband came beside me laughing and said«MAN…i cannot take you ANYWHERE!!». A girl likes what she likes! This place is amazing and will be on this weekend’s rotation!

I had my doubts about a sushi buffet. Usually you attribute a buffet to un-fresh food. That would normally be the case but the sushi is plated and snatched up my hungry patrons very quickly. Nothing sits out long. The plates are cooled from beneath and keep the sushi fresh as well. The glass protector over top the sushi is crystal clear and keeps any particulates from getting to the buffet. My tip to you is not to fill up on beverages. People always use soy sauce to season the sushi to their liking. The salty soy sauce will make you want to drink water. Fight the urge to drink! Tiny sips will keep you going back to the sushi bar longer. If you’re adventurous, try an oyster shooter. Good stuff. Go get your sushi fix on!

It’s much better than I would have assumed a sushi buffet would be. Probably 20 — 30 roll varieties, seemed to be fresh. Tasted fine. The hot buffet items. decent. Much better than the average buffet. Their ‘hibachi’… meh, not a fan. It’s cool that shrimp is an option, but the flavor was nothing special(yes, that’s potentially on me since I add the spices). I think it’s unfair to judge a buffet off of one visit, so I’m sure I’ll go again. For a sushi centric buffet, the price for lunch is a great deal.

It’s not often that you see a sushi buffet at the price point and quality of Izumi. Especially one that offers a hibachi bar. It’s clean. Everything tastes fresh. The sushi varieties are replenished frequently enough. If sushi isn’t your thing, there’s a good variety of regular American-Asian fare. And there’s always the hibachi bar, where you select your ingredients for your custom stir fry. Ultimately, the sushi is pretty good. It’s not excellent, but it’s still better than some of the other established sushi restaurants in Augusta(Sole downtown comes to mind, since all-you-can-eat comparisons come to mind). Izumi a great restaurant at a great price, especially for lunch. And there’s beer.

Was very skeptical when I entered this establishment. I usually don’t eat sushi at buffets for my own health and because of the low standard, but when I walked up to the bar the sushi actually looked edible, so I went for it. Luckily, I was rewarded by sushi that could potentially be the best in Augusta so far. I haven’t been to Miyabi in a few years and since Mikoto’s closed, Izumi might have the best sushi, and as a bonus it’s a buffet! They also have a hibachi bar, which has a nice little selection of meats and veggies. The hot bar is pretty average for a buffet, but who needs that when you have all-you-can eat sushi and meat?! I would definitely recommend this place even if you are someone that feels that they do not eat enough to warrant spending money on a buffet. I’d say one decent plate full of sushi will get your money’s worth!

I’m almost embarrassed to say how much we actually come here. It’s too good of a deal to pass up. We usually come on Saturdays for lunch, because it’s only $ 11 a person. I have a hard time paying for sushi elsewhere because of this place. I love starting off with the seaweed salad that they have. They have so many options when it comes to sushi, but the salmon lover is one of my favorites. They have food besides sushi on one side(tempura vegetables, egg rolls, lo mein noodles, sesame chicken, etc.) and another area where you can create your own plate and the chef will make it right there for you. This place has a little bit for everyone. The service has always been pretty great. They have areas for large parties, but also plenty of booths. They have one side that is just for desserts, as well.

When I hear the words sushi and buffet together, I always hold my breath. I have yet to find any dining situation where sushi can be prepared in advance and still maintain any type of quality. No matter what people tell you, the sushi at Izumi is NOT fresh. It may taste good based on their experience but it’s far from fresh, even with the guys preparing sushi in the middle of the sushi rotunda. Do I sound like a sushi snob? maybe, but I just want to make sure your expectations are low enough to enjoy your food. The $ 17 dinner buffet was okay, with most items sitting dry under heat lamps and partially melted and dripping ice cream in a freezer box. The Mongolian area seemed like it had potential, but there was no one there to cooked the food when I came around. There is plenty to choose from but nothing seemed too fresh. The place works well with groups and the servers are always around checking on you. I wouldn’t expect a miracle, but the place isn’t too bad.

If you live in Evans and love sushi, you have to try this place. My family was absolutely blown away by the variety of fresh sushi options on the bar, the attentiveness of the staff, and how nice the interior of the restaurant looks — I remember the previous incarnation of this location, and the new owners have done a great job fixing it up. The wife and I were both blown away by the sushi, and the kids loved all the other options(dumplings, egg rolls, chicken, fruit, mini-desserts, etc.). On top of that, the pricing was great — our family of 4 ate the buffet for less than $ 35. We will certainly be trying this place again. Even though we’ve enjoyed other sushi stops in the area, this is now our go-to place when one of us gets a sushi craving.

My mom and I were looking for new sushi joints in the area and I stumbled on this restaurant. Surprisingly saw the two words«Japanese buffet» with a 4 star rating made both me and mom’s eyes twinkle. We wanted to eat here for lunch. The first thing I saw was a sign that reads $ 10.95 lunch and $ 16.95 Dinner. I looked at my mom and couldn’t believe the price?! That is such a good deal! We were seated right away and the server instantly brought our drinks. First, I wanted to walk around and check out what they had out. I made a full round trip of the buffet and was truly impressed with what they had to offer. They have it divided by sections. One side salads– seaweed salad, iceberg lettuce(two dressings to choose from), edaname, and more. Two sections for sushi. One side with appetizers. Another section– basic meals(lo mein, soup, fried rice, etc.) They have a station for hibachi which you can request an order to be made. Last is the desserts. They had a great selection of everything(Westerner and Japanese). Vegetarian friendly as well. My typical meal for me was mostly appetizers and sushi. –Ginger Salad –Edamame –Vegetable Tempura(Broccoli, sweet potato, onions) –Gyoza(pork) –Chicken Katsu –Chicken Satay Sushi: –Peanut avocado roll –Queen Roll –Scallops Roll –Hawaiian Roll –Sweet Potato Roll Desserts were mainly cakes, fruit, pudding and cookies. Of course I enjoyed 3 small pieces of coffee cakes. Server was very attentive in grabbing our plates out of the way, providing extra napkins, and refilling our waters. Also I noticed that they keep the buffets and restaurant very clean. They made sure to keep the buffet stocked/fresh. I’m bummed that they do not have a Japanese Buffett in Cincinnati because this place is the bomb! Place deserves a 5 star rating! The price is ridiculously cheap and you definately get what you pay for. Great quality food(can you believe the amounts of seafood you can eat?) Next time I return, I will be sure to wear yoga pants! :)

I discovered this restaurant through a Unilocal review. Unilocal works and I am benefiting from it. My visit to Izumi was overwhelming. Not very often do I attend a buffet and all of the food tastes, amazing. I am not a lover of Asian food, but I will be eating here again. The sushi is the reason I went to Izumi and it did not disappoint me. Two to three servings of the sushi would cost at least thirty dollars in a sushi restaurant. To receive unlimited, great, sushi in addition to the rest of the buffet the low price is amazing.
