Awaken Salon & Spa

Annette is the best – her waxing services and facials are awesome! She is very knowledgeable and not pushy. She also gives great military discounts and specials. She is so easy to talk with as well. It feels like I’m catching up with a friend when I see her.

I have been coming to Awaken once a month ever since Annette relocated here. My review is somewhat mostly based on my waxing services but I have also had a massage and gotten my hair done here. First off, Annette is the best! To each his own but that soy wax is definitely not for me. Not to mention Annette introduced me to Rapidlash which is AMAZING!!! Annette actually offers quite a bit of other services however I just haven’t gotten around to trying some of skin care treatments even though I really, really need it.
I did try a massage here and I don’t want to take anything away from the quality of the person’s work but the building was just too cold for my liking. The AC was running and even though I was covered up I was still not wearing any clothes so anytime my skin was exposed I could feel the air coming from the vent. My bed was not warm either. Some might not find that a big deal or could tolerate the temperature but I’m somewhat whiny when I get too hot or too cold lol So needless to say because of the building I decided not to come back for any massages. When I do come for my waxing services Annette is nice enough to lend me a blanket!
I had a great experience with Juan on the hair side of the salon here. This was the first time I have ever had a man do my hair, so that was definitely new to me. My sister is a hair stylist and has been cutting my hair since we were in middle school in our garage. So needless to say I am very picky when it comes to other people doing my hair. I had a really bad experience once and since then I would always wait till I would travel home so my sister could do my hair. I was definitely glad to find a place where I could trust someone with my hair. Although, I don’t know that I could stand to be with my significant other all day every day, I think it’s cute that husband and wife run the hair salon together!

I’ve been to Awaken Spa a few times. I came here first for a sports massage and then today because I finally got around to following Annette to her new location for all my waxing needs. Both of my visits were amazing. I didn’t have a long wait either time, I was greeted promptly and my technician was notified that I was waiting.
The spa is very clean and nicely laid out. I like how the salon area is separate from the massage area. The smells from the salon can sometimes inhibit the relaxing smells in the massage area, so I like to keep those 2 separate.
Probably my favorite part of my Awaken experience is that I can book my appointment online! And also PAY! Some people may not prefer this method & can still call in to book an appointment, but it is a wonderful option to have!

I love the online reservations, the quiet, clean, and soothing facilities, the music, and the comfortable massage tables. Most of all though, I love the massages! Michelle uses a wonderful technique that really targets sore muscles by applying steady pressure. She really searches for those deep knots and rubs them out. I’ve had back pain for years and she erases all those aches and pains. I’ve been a couple times and it is really consistent, so I plan on returning again and again!
