It’s All About the Dogs

I take my dog here up to 3 times a week while I’m at work. She is about a year and a half and very energetic! When we get there she pulls me all the way in and can’t wait to go play, which tells me they treat the doggies very well. I’ve also noticed they are very watchful and at the end of the day they always know what has gone on with your dog (i.e., once mine was playing too rough with another dog and they got into a little spat; the staff let me know). I love that they do a trial period to make sure a new dog will fit in with the other dogs.
Also, somehow my dog — who is sort of a dirty bird — always comes home clean, even though she has outside access. They are seriously meticulous about cleaning up after the dogs.
Regarding overnights — I’ve left her there once for a weekend and she did great! It’s nice that they will give your dog a kong if you want.
Last, the «play cams» are the best — sometimes it’s fun to check in on your pup in the middle of the day.

Love this little place! :) great grooming, my little dog Toto looked adorable after having her groomed here. Great price as well, and all the staff are super friendly. I have yet to try the doggy daycare, but I plan on it!

My pup, now 1 (but had been going since six months old), absolutely loves this place. Right when I pull up, he’s ready to run in and start playing. Easy drop off, friendly staff and affordable prices. He comes home exhausted (which is great, because a tired doggy is a nondestructive one!) and you can tell he had a fantastic day.

We love It’s All About the Dogs and have been taking our dog Donovan there for about six months now. We use both the daycare and boarding options.
Donovan** is our «special needs» dog and is somewhat neurotic as a result of his being adopted from a high-​kill shelter in East Oakland at the age of three months. We don’t know what happened to him before we brought him home, but whatever it is, he has some insecurity about it.
The staff at AATD was patient with him and so were all the dogs there. After a few visits our scared dog was playing with other dogs and learning how to socialize properly. We were impressed when one of the employees (whom we adore!) picked up on our nickname for Donovan and greeted him with a happy, «Hello, Baba!!!» at the door, which he, of course, loved, and we did too. He is a slow to warm up kiddo, and it has taken him some time to get to know the dogs and humans at AATD but continues to make progress.
**I should mention here that we did not give Donovan his name and he isn’t the brightest bulb in the box, so we kept it as to not confuse his dog brain, which is frequently overridden by his tail and his heart. A name like Donovan makes him seem like a much too serious and mature dog than he really is. When you see him at AATD, just know the name is not a reliable representation, and that he very well might give your butt a sniff or put his paws up on the counter to greet his friend Ryan!
On a serious note, we love these guys. Baba is not always an easy dog to deal with. Once, he peed in giant arcs all the way down the hall at AATD when they were bringing him in for a bath. While we were mortified, AATD assured us that it was not a big deal and we all laughed about it in the end (although I am certain it was not that funny at the time)! Also, when he gets too excited, the staff at AATD knows him well enough to kennel him and give him some time to regroup, which is exactly what he needs. Over time this has been needed less and less as Donovan has learned what is acceptable and what is not at AATD.
When Donovan does get a little nutty, which still happens, AATD tells us what is going on. It is nice to be able to watch him on the camera, and they give us a «report card» at the end of his stays.
I would recommend that if you have a VERY ACTIVE dog like ours who us staying at AATD for a few days, you pack extra food and even up the feeding amount during their stay. Donovan came home a little leaner than normal a couple of times until we figured out that he was just burning TONS of calories that we weren’t accounting for. I wish this were my problem, too! ***sigh***
The place is clean, safe, and they have protocols in place for things like kennel cough (which we did deal with and it was resolved). They know when to be firm with the dogs. The place is also affordable, which I appreciate being an elementary school teacher with a full-​time student husband. The hours are great, and they even gave us cookies once… ones made for humans dipped in chocolate, even!
Thanks, All About the Dogs. You guys are friggin’ awesome, all of you. Thanks for putting up with our boy. We know he can be a pain in the a$$ sometimes but we love that you love him regardless, even when he let’s an unexpected howl rip when one of you unintentionally upsets his fragile and often neurotic dog balance. Don’t take it personally, he’s a little nutty as you know. ;)
He would still be a nervous little guy without all of you. Okay, big guy… but still nervous.

I am Bocce, a four month and a half month old Labradoodle. I spent nine days at Its All About The Dogs while my family went on vacation. I had a great time. Before spending time at IAATDs I had not been around others dogs. I was a bit shy and felt intimidated. I now feel confident and love playing with my kind. The staff took great care of me. They were friendly and made me feel comfortable. Before I came home, I had a bath and my family could not believe how good I looked. They said I grew and grew while I was there. I hope my family takes me back to play and when they go on vacation the next time I know where I want to stay. Thanks to all of the staff who took great care of me.

We had to leave our dog there for about 4 or 5 hours. The staff was pleasant, really cared about the dog and we could watch him playing before we left. We were only going through town so we were apprehensive before but all went well. I spoke to some other people while there and they all loved the place. I smelled nothing in or outside.

Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Cool to be able to monitor what is going on with the webcams that they have at the facility. I know plenty of people who take their dogs there and have never heard a single, negative thing about them. I don’t have dogs myself (my cats would object), but I would definitely trust them with my pets if I did.

I’ve never been to a doggy daycare before but as a new employee at this facility I can say with the most truth and reassurance, that this is a great place! The staff really really cares about the physical and mental well being of each dog. They know each owner and dog by first and last name. We clean the kennels, office and all play areas multiple times a day. We provide grooming services as well! I highly recommend this facility not just as an employee with insight into the back workings of the place, but also as a dog owner! :) :) Thanks Humboldt for being so open and accepting of a doggy daycare! we’ve been here 10 years, and counting!

My 9 year old Maltese just had his first overnight (actually 4 nights) boarding experience at It’s All About The Dogs in Eureka. The staff was very accommodating of my little Max’s particular personality and he ended up having a good experience. I was able to thoroughly enjoy our daughter’s wedding without worry and you can tell that the folks there really like dogs and treat them well. I highly recommend IAATD for daycare and/​or overnight stays. Great place!

I started using IAATDs about 4 months ago, and I have been more than pleased with the care my dog receives. I started using daycare when I was in the process of a long 2 month move, where I was living with friends between houses. Having never used dog daycare before I wasn’t sure what to expect from the experience or from my dog. I have been very pleased with the friendly staff and the way they treat me and my dog. Now that I am moved into my new place, I am continuing to take Myrah to daycare at least twice week.
As the General Manager of Arcata Pet Supply, I have had the unique position of hearing all the good and the bad about all of the local dog boarding /​daycare places in the area. No one business can please every single customer, not just possible. I chose It’s All About the Dogs as their customers were much more vocal about how great they are. I would agree!

Quite a place! I recommend the private rooms or cabins for boarding, but the facilities were great and the people very caring! Our dog was well taken care of on our overnight trip.

FIrst time I ever boarded my 8 year old dog and things went better than I could have hoped for. They really love the dogs here and take great care of them. They seem very concerned about the dogs mental well being. It’s not just like a dog storage facility. I’m thankful for this place.

I have been taking my dog here for three years, and I love this facility. I think the staff is very friendly and they always know my dog as the fur-​person he is and tell me how he did, or mention that he’s had an off day, or that he made new friends. I looked at some of the filtered comments, and I have to say that I was shocked by the complaints. The one person who complains that it smells like pee walks in th ALLEY where human bums pee… so I really have to question her sense of smell seeing as how the office is always clean and fresh. I’ve never heard staff «yelling» at the dogs, but I yell at my dog if he’s being too noisy, so it wouldn’t really bother me anyway. The other person that was angry at the receptionist simply sounds like an irritating high-​maintenace client (the kind I usually have to work with), and as for the last review… I was actually present for the woman taking her dog home and she is one of the worst dog owners I’ve ever seen. She has no control over that dog, and I can’t believe she’d accuse the staff of injuring it when it most likely injured itself. If it’s really 7 YO like she says, she is a bad owner for not teaching it to behave itself properly. Her dog jumped on me when I came in, and she didn’t even have the grace to apologize. A few days later, I mentioned it to an employee and they said that the owner accused them of hurting him. What an aweful person! Too bad she gave the place such a negative review, and too bad the business isn’t able to give HER a one star review in real life!

I have been taking my little dog here for over a year now and she really loves going there. As soon as we get within two blocks of the place she starts whining and pawing at me. When we get out of the car she pulls me into the office. When I pick her up at the end of the day she is worn out from all the playing.
I have never heard any of the staff yell at the dogs, in fact I’m quite impressed with the care the staff exhibits towards the dogs. Misty, the owner, is hands on and you can tell she is running the business because she truly loves dogs (and I mean all dogs).

I really do love this place. To be fair, it is the only dog sitting business I have ever tried, but I couldn’t ask for more. They have a huge facility. Great big indoor and outdoor rooms for the dogs to run and play together. They recently changed location, and the new one is even bigger and nicer. I know they have grooming services too, but I haven’t yet given it a try. My dog always comes home exhausted and happy after a day at this doggie day care. I left him overnight once also, for two nights while I was on vacation and it was affordable (about 20 dollars a day). I am pretty sure they have heated floors for the dogs and supply bedding and toys. And I know that they supplied the food too. Oh and you can watch the dogs playing online. Ok I could write forever but I’ll leave it at this.
