We recently used Humboldt Moving and Storage to move us from Santa Rosa, CA to Eureka, CA. We were so impressed with the professionalism and care that was taken both with loading our belongings and ultimately delivering them to our new home in Eureka, CA. The personnel were both personable and friendly. They took great care in making sure we were taken care of. Not only would we use their services again but we would most definitely recommend them to anyone needing their services.

My husband Fred and I recently moved from Humboldt, CA to Reno, NV. The service we received from van operators Henry & Isiash(father/son team) was the best I have ever experienced and I have moved quite a bit due to my job relocations. I have a grand piano and several high end piece furnitures. I told them to take good care of them and they took EXTRA care in handling all my household goods. Not a scratch, bump or dent! I was really impressed. Plus they delivered it within 2 days! They were professional, personable and very positive. I will do business with these two anytime! Garrett their boss needs to give them a bonus! Throw in another bonus for Matthew who came out to help them. What a nice guy! Excellent, excellent, excellent. My husband and I are very happy with their service.

To say we are disappointed with Humboldt Moving & Storage is an understatement, but we were moved by my husband’s employer to Eureka, and that was the company they selected. So far, more than a month after our move, my granny’s 110-year-old Stickley tabletop is still missing. So is my husband’s bike. Our 32″ flat screen TV, which they packed in the original box, is broken. So is a grate on my 1928 Wedgewood stove. Every time we ask the owner about these things, he just grins and shrugs his shoulders. We still haven’t found the pump to our Sleep Number bed — luckily we still had the old mattress. The packing process was a mystery — every item that had a cord was separated from its cord. The items were packed, and all the cords were put together in a separate box. Are they sadists or stupid? The jury is still out. Parts of items would be found in boxes in different rooms. A two-inch wood box was packed in a large sheet of paper and packed in a master bedroom box — quite rightly. The corresponding two-inch lid was packed in a separate large piece of paper and packed in an office box. Why? The whole thing could have been packed in one sheet of paper. Despite my placing detailed layouts on each room’s doorway of what furniture went in which room, no one paid attention. And they insisted in piling each room full of boxes, and then complaining they had no room for furniture. I tried to tell them beforehand where would be the best place to put the boxes, but again no one would listen. I use a wheelchair, so unpacking and moving things around is very difficult for me. My husband took some time off to move. Some lovely people from church came over to help unpack the first week. They couldn’t believe how badly things were packed and delivered. I’m now paying people to help me unpack as it’s six weeks after the move, and we still have a garage full of boxes to go through — things we moved out so we could try to make sense of what was in the house. Please, if you’re considering movers, look elsewhere unless you’re young, strong and healthy and have lots of time. And please pack and take anything that’s precious yourself. You’ll save yourself a lot of heartache.

Humboldt Moving and Storage is the most unprofessional and dishonest company I have ever done business with. I would caution anyone considering moving in/from/to Humboldt County to take their business elsewhere. My items were finally delivered to me at my destination on Wednesday September 8, 2010. They were packed and loaded by Humboldt Moving and Storage on Wednesday August 11, 2010. It took a FULLMONTH to get my belongings. So, if you are looking to get your furniture and other items delivered to you on-time, take your business somewhere else. That being said, the lateness of my shipment wasn’t even my biggest issue with them. It was their consistently dishonest and deceitful customer service practices. The best example of this being the eight, yes, EIGHT, separate times I called them for a status check on my move and they failed to return my phone calls. Each time I called in the employees, specifically John Gierek, Jeannine, and Steve Sehon, promised me a call back. Out of eight such requests, I did not receive a return phone call. Not returning a customer’s call when one is expressly asked for is improper and unethical in all situations. When I spoke with John Gierek about this issue he made vague excuses but never explained why the calls were not returned and never once apologized. His took zero ownership of the issue and showed no courtesy to me as a customer. Mistakes happen, and delays are usual in the moving business. But a company who doesn’t take responsibility for their actions, or lack of action, is untrustworthy and dishonest. If you are looking for a moving company that communicates open and sincerely with their customers you should take your business somewhere else. My wish is that no one else has to go through the anguish that I did in dealing with this atrocious company and their unscrupulous employees.

Humboldt Moving & Storage just unloaded the truck for our 18,000 pound move, and it was such a positive experience I am compelled to write a glowing review. these guys are top notch. This was our second move with Humboldt Moving & Storage — they are honest, careful, and a pleasure to work with. They will not nickel and dime you, and they’ll take exceptional care of your stuff. We had a fantastic experience with Clint(the driver who coordinated our move) — he’s trustworthy and an all around fantastic mover. and you can request him by name! I hear that Josh is also fantastic if Clint isn’t available. Need to move into or out of Humboldt County? these guys are the best!
