If you are looking for a good clam chowder in town this is the place to go. The clam chowder is so so good hands down. I have taken some friends here for some chowder and they all enjoyed it very much.

All of the breakfast we had this morning was wonderful. Wish they had half portions. Beautiful view and very nice service.

Came here on a slightly overcast morning. The restaurant is off by itself with a view of the ocean. The patio is surrounded by a rather large flower garden, which I found to be a nice touch. We sat inside with a window seat looking over the patio and ocean. The service was top notch, and the bloody mary’s were good. Our waitress was very considerate and suggested we place our order sooner rather than later, that way our food would not get stuck behind a large group about to order. Had the crab omelette(seasonal), and boy was it good. I was a little concerned about seafood in an omelette, but it was fresh and delicious. Would come back any time!

I recently ate here on a road trip and I must say– I was very impressed! The view was beautiful and the fish and chips were delicious. My boyfriend enjoyed his oyster shooter and beer for the right price. The waitress was lovely but the service was a bit slow.

Chili burger is probably my least favorite things on the menu. One of the worst hamburgers I’ve had in humboldt. I know I went to a seafood restaurant for a burger, but if you put it on the menu, it should at least have some flavor. Breakfast is good here. Waitstaff is eh/okay. Not as great as I remember when I was growing up.

Delicious tuna sandwich, seafood chowder was good, and the fry seasoning was great. I’d like to eat 5 more of those tuna sandwiches. Very friendly service as well.

Took a bit to have our order taken, did get checked in on a few times though. Got the grilled crab sandwich for $ 17. The crab was probably good, but all I could taste was the cheese. We ordered the seafood chowder in cups. Despite the fact that they put mushrooms in the chowder, it was actually pretty good. Better than the one I had in Bodega Bay. The onion rings came out huge and crispy, really good for a seafood shack. Overall the staff was fairly pleasant, we paid $ 90 for four people to include onion ring app, 2 cups of chowder, 1 bowl of chowder, lunch salad, fries(you get nothing with your crab sandwich, but you get sides for other orders much cheaper, odd), French dip(average, it’s a seafood place but one of our teens doesn’t care for much seafood), and 2 grilled crab sandwiches.

I was really excited to go here for breakfast when I saw they were on the water. We were just in town for the night and the thought of a dockside breakfast sounded ideal to me. When we got there we stood at the door for a few minutes while the waitresses just stared at us. Eventually, a lady told us to sit wherever we wanted. After sitting down for about 5 minutes and having no one approach us, I went up and grabbed two menus so we could at least start to look at what we wanted. Eventually(seriously way too long) we were approached and ordered two waters, two bloody marys, and I ordered crab benedict and my boyfriend ordered regular eggs benedict. The bloody marys came out first and were horrible. Super bland and no alcohol in them. Water didn’t show up until our food came, again quite some time later. I ate my crab benedict and thought it was tasty. The potatoes looked like a mushy mess and I am picky about needing potatoes to be crispy so I didn’t even touch them. There was also an inch long sliver of melon on our plates. Not quite sure what that was for… garnish?!? My boyfriend, who is a BIG eater, wouldn’t even touch his eggs benedict, which is his absolute favorite breakfast. He said the ham tasted like it was cooked with fish… which is highly likely considering they serve so much seafood. My meal tasted like seafood, because it had seafood in it. So I didn’t notice any different. But, I suppose if I didn’t want a fishy breakfast that would turn me off as well. He also wouldn’t even touch the potatoes(usually he eats his and mine). Once we were done we sat for some time and waited for our bill. We noticed waitresses walking our direction a few times but it was not to come to our table. Eventually we stacked our plates on top of each other so it was clear we were done with our food. We sat and waited even more. Finally I got up and walked to the bar area and asked for my bill. The woman looked at me blankly until I walked through everything that was on our check so that she could find it. What a waste of what could have been a nice breakfast on our out of town adventure.

If nothing else you have to go just for the views. Especially if you are from out of town. It’s a kitchy little local spot with decent food. Can get busy on weekends though so don’t go at breakfast time or you will be waiting a while.

Breakfast? Tradition? GILLSBYTHEBAY! Nuf said. But they won’t let me say«nuf said» so I’ll say some more. I have been going there since I can remember. NEVER have I had a bad experience. Nice people and a wonderful family. A beautiful location too that is kept up fantastically! I love taking my daughter there and letting her run around looking at the flowers. Five stars for sure!

Homemade jam is another specialty– wild blackberry is my favorite! Juicy, tart and full of berries. The orange marmalade is art in a jar and the wild raspberry can be used in home baking to make one a star. I bought several jars of these masterful jams for gifts.

What a pleasant surprise. After traveling from San Francisco and have nothing but terrible service; we more than enjoyed our meal here. The ocean breeze. The great service. Amazing food. Pretty hard to beat. We had the fish and chips. Absolutely delicious! Sea Food chowder was the best I had in years. The view was excellent. I loved driving there as the little old neighborhood was fun sight seeing. I will definitely make a stop if I’m ever in that town again!

$ 17.50 for a very bland crab sandwich. Sure there’s lots of crab in there but i can use some kind of taste. I mean, I dont mind spending that money if it’s worth it. And oh btw, it smells like nursing home in there.

Great view on a nice day. Pretty good food and a great staff of long time employees it seems. Easy to walk off the meal around the beach after. Most always has fresh crab when in season. They also serve mimosas and bloody Mary’s. Great place to take an out of town guest or first time visitor. defiantly a local hotspot.
