Deer Run Kennels

We have boarded our dog here numerous times and have been very happy with the service. Our dog needs a bit more attention because of how anxious he can be and they have always been so patient and accommodating! «Crazy Lucky» loves the two owners!

We’ve boarded our dog here twice and haven’t had any issues. The owner is a dog owner who runs the business because she loves dogs. We were able to see where our dog would be staying and it was a very nice indoor-​outdoor run area. The staff was even accommodating about giving my dog medication for an ear infection when she was there last time. It is sometimes hard to reach the staff but every message I’ve left was returned in within an hour. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to board their dog.

We have just moved to Eureka and so decided to give this place a chance. Took my cat to the kennel for the weekend. I requested to see where my cat was supposed to be boarded and they made some dumb excuse about dogs being everywhere and declined my request! That was the first red flag. I have never had that issue at any other boarding places ever! People always show where your pet will be boarded. Second of all they have really strict times when you can call them to check on your pets because they are practically closed over the weekend. That is just something I don’t understand. If you are running a boarding business, you need to at least to check your messages and return anxious pet parents’ calls. Previous places I have boarded my pets never had issues returning my calls. Plus the staff was sort of rude and «unfriendly». So I am never going back. It is cheap and you are really getting the service that is of course «cheap»!!! Also, some of my cat’s favorite toys that I packed with him to play with, are missing from his bag. And I’m very disappointed by that.

The owners seem to be quite nice and the animals seem to enjoy their stay at this «spa for pets». I am sure I will have more to report soon, as we just put a relatives dog here for a yet to be determined duration.
I would rate them higher but feel it would be unjustified since I have only had one experience with the two owners. I believe they will earn the last star soon though.
