just amazing! gorgeous setting, incredible food! I mean the food is outstanding!!! These super pro farmers grow all of the fruits and veggies on site, so everthing is super fresh and super flavorful Everyone eats together in a super classy giant barn while a duo plays bluegrass. Before the meal, Rachel will show you around some of the gardens and explain their farming. It’s all pastoral and so beautiful! Chickens roam around. Everything they serve you tastes like heaven! Go at all costs. Probably really good for groups of 4 or more as the seating is communal… but the atmosphere is very classy, elegant and romantic! Can’t say enough good things about this place. It’s a real treasure!

Wow! Perfect experience start to finish! Gorgeous property, warm country vibe and delicious food all grown on site. Live Bluegrass music, a walking tour of the farm and a bonfire were nice surprises! Claverach feels like spending the evening in Napa! Already looking forward to my next trip there!

I’ll be brief. Others have contributed enough«color» with respect to the eclectic charm of this place as well as the trivial downsides of what comes with rustic. Warning — This is not for someone who is heat-intolerant on a warm/hot evening. Even the fans can’t compensate for hot and humid conditions. As for the food. Not exotic, in some cases rather straight forward. However the menu is executed with passion and skill. When you leave you should be able to say you’ve tasted 4 – 6 things that are«the best» you’ve eaten in a while(or ever). Examples: Tomatoes as good as they get. An interesting twist on polenta. Perfectly integrated micro-greens. Whipped crème fraîche that is mind blowing. Etc, etc. Go in a group of four. Find a cool evening to do so… you will be rewarded with an experience you will want to tell others about.

Amazing experience. Wonderful pace to courses. Farm to table was evident throughout. Bonus amuse-bouche was a nice touch. Definitely arrive at your reservation on time so you can enjoy the hors d’oeuvres and the flatbreads but still have time for the quick farm tour. If you have ladies in your party, no high heels. Perfect for a special occasion, but will repeat other times too.

Unfortunately our experience was not on the same level of other reviewers. First the positives, the setting and venue are truly wonderful. We had a perfect weather evening and could not have been more pleased with the farm. Our dissatisfaction stemmed from the staff and the menu. Things didn’t get started well when they served the vegetable appetizers with no utensils. I’m no germaphobe but this doesn’t pass the most basic criteria for sound health practices. I mentioned the situation to one of the staff and she corrected it but that was after it had existed for 15 minutes. People pawing around in a tray of raw vegetables is just not healthy. The meal was fine especially the beginning and the end but had the menu been known when we were booking I would have opted for another night. $ 75 for an OK chicken entrée was not my idea of good dining. The appetizer was wonderful but the amount of smoked salmon had to be measured in grams! :-) The dessert was also very good. The biggest disappointment came in the wine pairings. When the server poured the second wine into our glasses that still had some the first wine in the glass I was a bit annoyed. When they attempted to reuse the same glass for the third wine we asked for a new glass. You can probably guess where they poured the fourth wine. :-( This place on location alone has so much going for it but there was certainly a lot lacking on the fine dining side this past Friday.

Hands down, my favorite place in the St. Louis area. Beautiful venue and delicious, fresh and wholesome food almost entirely grown on property. A gem! Make a reservation now.

The American Dream. What the owners of Claverach Farm and Vineyard are doing is living AND sharing the American Dream. I almost didn’t write this Unilocal because I want this place to remain a secret, but that’s selfish so here ya go… Imagine a 300-acre paradise of rugged Ozark terrain nestled near highway 44 and within 20 minutes driving distance to St. Louis. Welcome to Claverach Farm, where the proprietor is both farmer and chef. This place epitomizes the Slow Food movement and should be visited by anyone that appreciates healthy, well prepared, and vitamin rich food. You also get to meet the wildlife: a failed sheep dog named Gypsy, their flock of peacocks, mini-sheep, and free roaming chickens. Talk about a labor of love. One full time and one part time employee farm the 8 productive acres of land on this picturesque landscape. The 100 year old newly renovated barn, large greenhouse, rustic yet refined landscape, and would be perfect for a film set. Not only did my wife and I have an extremely romantic and enjoyable evening, we learned a bit about food nutrition and met some great people. WARNING: We were planning on having a more intimate romantic dinner conversation, but that is not how this place is set up. Be prepared to talk to people, because they seat you German style, with strangers closely seated on both sides. It would be more awkward to not introduce yourself to those seated next to you, because of the proximity. Let’s just say Larry David wouldn’t like this place because he’d have to talk to strangers. The food, oh the food. These were the best vegetables I’ve ever eaten. I don’t have a particularly discriminating palate, but I could actually discern how fresh these things were. We started with seasonal flatbread pizza made on their brick wood-burning oven right in front of the whole group(73 people). They accompanied the flat bread with fresh veggies(I didn’t know beets could taste so good) and a great dipping sauce. Before we transitioned to the first course, which was a roasted asparagus and potato soup with fresh cream, crispy new potatoes, and chives(with their blossoms), the chef surprised everyone with an amuse-bouche(bite sized, unannounced, complimentary hors d’œuvre) of fresh vegetables, special sauce, and fresh herbs. I would put their dill on everything — it was extraordinarily good. The second course — the salad — was actually my favorite! It was a spring salad of grilled chicory, fresh farm egg(best eggs we’ve ever had… and they teach you why), lardon, fresh baked farm bread croutons, and Parmesan Reggiano. I am not sure if I will ever eat a salad this good, and usually I don’t even care for salads. And if you don’t know what lardon is, you should learn. Wow was that good. The main course was a smoked buttonwood farm raised chicken with sugar snap peas, roasted radishes, shiitakes, and Missouri brown basmati green rice primavera. The sauce they put the chicken in was wonderful. This portion of the meal is served family style, so two platters are brought out for each 4-person seating area. So we shared ours with the couple we met — I didn’t think it would fill us all up, but I ended up eating 3 full plates and we still had a small portion of veggies leftover. To wrap it up, they served a cornmeal pecan financiers(had no clue what that meant at the time but I am sure glad they served it) with fresh strawberries and rose syrup. I drank blood orange soda and coffee throughout the meal while my wife drank local wines(and they serve local beers). Romantic ambiance. Superb landscape. Top tier food. A truly American experience great for couples, groups, and foodies. And to top it all off, they had live music playing throughout the evening. We plan to eat here at least once during each season. But remember to keep it a secret and don’t drive into the Meramec River on your way there…

What a wonderful experience, from start to finish! We had about an hour of drinks and apps before the seated courses started. The Flatbread apps were delicious, piping hot right from the pizza oven. A decent selection of wines to choose from and a light and a dark beer. The dark they had was new to us and we loved. We choose to also bring our own bottle of wine and the corkage fee is very reasonable at $ 10 per bottle. Due to the rather cold temps(30 degrees) few people were outside around the fire. Dinner began around 6:15 pm with the first course(soup). Salad and entrée are served family style with 4 people sharing each dish. Soup and dessert are served individually. The entrée and sides portion were fair. The salad was a little light, maybe because we loved it so much, we thought we could have used more! The service is attentive and ran very smoothly. We were seated right next to the two man band, but surprisingly was not loud or overbearing for conversation at all, was nice background. I was very worried about being cold in the barn(I tend to be cold a lot) and dressed with many layers. There were no open door ways /windows as I feared, I was comfortable and those who dressed lighter than me were comfortable as well. We used Scooter Guy for a pick up(great service, they drive you in your own car back to your home) which was roughly $ 70 to our home in Clayton, before gratuity. I know some others had drivers as well. The farm road is extremely narrow, curvy and dark. Something to consider when planning your evening. Joanna and her team provide an enjoyable dining experience in a lovely setting!

The dinner is really good and the experience is certainly worth a trip out to the farm. It is a great concept and great atmosphere.

I enjoyed this experience a lot. The dinner is held in a renovated upscale barn. There’s a bar with a variety of wine and beer. There is a short optional garden discussion with one of the staff(Rachel gave our talk, which was great). Dinner is a multi course affair — we had flatbread, tomato and feta salad, chicken, and a delicious panna cotta dessert. The staff was very pleasant and overall it was a great dinner.

Goodness. If I could relish more than five stars upon Claverach Farm and Winery, I would. I bought a bottle of their«Green 2008, Ozark Mountain» wine, which consists of 70% Seyval grapes and 30% Marsanne grapes, as read on the label. Some of the most delicious and robust white wine I’ve ever tasted(and I used to live in California and have family in France). Not that I am a wine expert– I’m from the school that you drink what tastes good to you. I’m not armed with a high vocabulary– but this wine appears to have been grown in the Garden of Eden. I’ve not been out to their farm, but they also grow all mayhem of organic vegetables which are sold at the Farmer’s Markets. They have small wine tastings, and I’ve been told that the farm runs along the banks of the Missouri river on top of a bluff. This summer I will certainly be taking a road trip out to experience Claverach Farm in person; until then I will be most content waiting out the chilly spring with bottles of «Green 2008».
