True Value Hardware

This place is a throwback to the times when the hardware store was owned and managed by your neighbors, and everyone was welcome, even if just to browse. It’s in a convenient location with plenty of parking off-​street, and the workers are genuinely friendly and helpful. I was buying a fan, and a gentleman who worked there whisked it out of my hands and carried it downstairs for me, even offering to giftwrap it. The woman at the counter was chatty and sweet, but not too much. She seems to have a degree in the art of small talk. This is the kind of store one could spend hours in, just looking at everything… and they seem to have everything. This is a refreshing break from the giant Lowes and Home Depot stores. I wish there were more businesses like this one.

Great neighborhood hardware store. I come here frequently due to its convenient location, but the friendly and genuinely helpful staff are a great benefit. Whatever small projects I have – repairing a chicken coop, picking up canning supplies, looking for an odd-​sized hex wrench to pull off a car door panel – they seem to have first-​hand knowledge (and stories, if you’ve got a minute).
Their gardening supplies are much more extensive than you’d think from their street. Their prices are also particularly good for canning, kitchen, and storage solutions, with regular sales.
I’m a regular, so have an ongoing rapport with some staff members, but they are just as helpful and enthusiastic with first-​time customers.

These folks do a great job and their customer service always amazes me. I had a defective item I purchased a week or so ago, no receipt, and exchanged it with no questions asked. WOW! I really appreciate that and this is why I like patronizing this place. Also, the knowledge of their staff is perhaps the best in Eugene/​Sprigfield, another plus!

Every single time I walk into True Value, it is less than two minutes before somebody friendly and helpful asks if they can help. And they always can – I get lost in places like this easily. And the store always has what I need.
The only reason I gave True Value four stars before was some type of Unilocal-​snobbery that informs my desire to keep my ratio of 5-​star reviews artificially low. This True Value has saved me many, many times and is far and away the best thing about this awful stretch of Willamette Street.

Buy your hardware and tools here. This is a great local store, very convenient, good parking in front and back, reasonable prices, very good service, and they have way more stuff than you’d imagine.
if you live on the South side of town this should always be your first stop for hardware, tools, housewares and more.

GLAD to have them in South Eugene, happy to spend $ at a locally owned business. Great employees. Their HOURS though! It’s been very frustrating over the years, they close at 6:00! That’s just terrible, but they’re the only game in south town so,… I’ve never come across a hardware store anywhere on the west coast that closes so early. Not too smart as folks increasingly head for the Home depots, Fred Meyer’s, Lowes, Harbor freight, etc, that actually have Reasonable hours for their customers! (And lower prices). Please True Value, remain local & competitive & serve us with practical hours?

If you can’t find what you are looking for just ask and they will show you where it is or tell you where you can find it.

I always go here first when I need something for the house or garden. The employees are able to help you find just what you need. The older employees especially are the ones I seek out for help since they know more and are more wiling to take the time to help.
There are a couple of girls at the checkout counter that have attitude problems, but they are really just there to take your money, so no biggie.
It’s the guys on the floor that make this place work.

Good neighborhood hardware store. They’ve got what they’ve got and will refer you elsewhere if they don’t have it. Plenty of staff to assist and some fun seasonal items.
If mid-​flight on a project, this place is very handy.

Wow. They have such a variety of stuff. Don’t forget to check out the clearance items on the main floor!
