This is an ok place. Probably the closest thing to a nicer bar from my time in San Diego than anything else here. It has nice dark wood trim and good lighting even at night. First time we visited I got a drink that was good but I didn’t want to continue drinking alcohol all night since I was the DD — so I got a refill of just the soda from the drink and they charged me an additional $ 2 which is kinda lame after you already had an alcohol drink and you are DD but hey… whatever. I just got fries the first night we went. They are my fave… skinny and crispy. But $ 4 so be aware it isn’t a huge portion but they were good. My friend got the pork tacos and they looked awesome. Plentiful with a good portion of meat but she said that it didn’t have any flavor. The next time we went it was for a ladies happy hour. Someone got the beet salad at our table and that looked good. She also got the shrimp appetizer on the happy hour menu. They were good sized shrimp and looked like they were cooked properly and had great garlic butter scent. Another person got the spinach lentil things — I wouldn’t get these they were just tiny little cakes. The Sexy drink on the happy hour is grapefruity and yummy… but again I was driving so I stuck with water. We tried the mushroom puffs too — my friend that ordered them did NOT like them. They had some kind of sweet sauce with them. BUT the puffs themselves were actually pretty good. I had the taquitos and they were okay… lacking in flavor again — The Davis needs to learn to season meat. Anyway — they were crispy and okay serving but at this point I would rather go to Riva’s or some other taco shop and get some taquitos. Two of my friends had mac and cheese… now THAT was yummy and definitely the best item ordered there yet. It has a crunchy Parmesan type cheese on top and that was awesome. Small portion again but ok at happy hour. One of them also got a Caesar. Um No… unless you love you some anchovy don’t bother. Seriously. WAY too fishy. Overall this place is okay. Boojie… its okay but just not that impressive. I will be back but I probably won’t go there for food. Just not impressed. BTW Thursday doesn’t have Ladies night… so forget those reviews. Apparently they have great drinks and drinks ARE cheaper than in CA but still…

Great food for a decent price. Definitely will be going back many times in the future. The Mac N Cheese is so delicious.

Rude, pretentious, will outwardly ignore you if staff doesn’t seem you worthy to be served and will skip to another table of obvious theater-goers.

Really top notch drinks. The Mac and Cheese is on the lunch menu now. Ask for it at dinner and they will make it for you. It is very popular for good reason. This is top notch local food served by well trained pros. It’s a great spot for people watching and relaxing outside with a beverage. Lots of wine choices. Full bar. Good beers. The food is very reasonably priced. Very good at accommodating special food requests like gluten free and vegan.

Just plain terrible, from the the managers to the owners, some of the worst human beings to occupy space on this earth and share the air with the rest of us

As a bar scene, it’s the best place to dance in all of Eugene. They also have this drink called«Skittles» that I would highly recommend. The clientele isn’t always the best & the cover charge gets out of hand every now & then but all in all they have the best music & best dance floor as well. Went there one time for dinner & it was excellent. I had these jalapeño popper things off their app menu & they were absolutely TODIEFOR. Soooo tasty. My burger was also excellent.

Amazing downtown location and staff to match. Everyone is friendly and attentive, kind and professional. Food is A+ and atmosphere is grown up and relaxing. People should model their bars after this place in town! It’s affordable and has a killer night life! Good DJ’s and prompt drinks.

This is almost always a stop on our date nights. Good food, great drinks! Chris the Bartender is great! Always has some tasty concoction for my wife. He’s very inventive with the fused vodkas. Knows his liquors well. She’s never had a bad drink. For me it’s all about bourbons. And they pour it over a baseball sized ice ball! As for food… we stick to the small plates. One of our favorite mac n cheese in town! Well… sometimes it’s a little off… but when it’s done right… Amazing!!! One thing you should order… Gouda Puffs!!! These are puff pastry filled with apples, gouda cheese and carmelized onions. And drizzled with balsamic and honey. Super tasty!!! Recommend that you hit Chris up to make something special! We have never been disappointed!

I am completely thrilled with the fact that you have Paulaner on tap and that ceviche is just magical and the burgers are killer. Also, the bartender who’s been there every time I roll through is wonderful. Thanks for putting up with me never remembering what the cherry wine is called. Still don’t know if I’m doing it right.

Food was great. Just got the small plates and all 3 added up to only 19 bucks. Looks like the place might pick up after 6 or so since the alcohol selection is abundant. Great service over all and good location in downtown Eugene.

I haven’t made it into the restaurant hours of Davis’ however I have previously been spending a couple weekends during the«night club» hours and the music is always slamming and it’s super fun. The only down side is making your way to the bar only to be snubbed my ride bartenders. I am sure some have had rough nights dealing with intoxicated people however when it becomes a pattern of rudeness it makes me never want to order a drink from here! I don’t need to drink to have fun and dance as I have done multiple times but when I want to buy a drink for my friends and I, I would appreciate kindness and not condescending attitudes and flat-put rudeness from the bartenders. If I’m paying $ 6 or so a drink for myself and friends I expect better, that’s when I simply go next door to Cowfish.

After attending a nice event here last year, my mother recently had her birthday party here and it was a major disappointment. They were out of stock of several kinds of wines, lost her pre-order for appetizer selections, and she had to prompt the servers several times to please keep the appetizers coming. During her party, there were periods of time with empty platters sitting on the tables and for the first 30+ minutes, there weren’t even any other customers. It also seemed as though there was no manager or event coordinator on site to handle this party. I feel really bad that my mother had to waste her own time/energy/money at her *own* birthday party to manage these party tasks which should have all been handled seamlessly by the restaurant. They should have given her a discount for such poor service!

Got the culotte steak and added the prawn special they had and it was fantastic. The service was great and food was delicious. Dont know why they dont fit in more tables since they have the room to do so.

Happy hour is great! We came in at the end(happy hour is 4 – 6 pm), but they were very courteous and let us order even though there was only 5 minutes left. Will definitely come back for dinner!

The best happy hour in Eugene, easily. Four dollar signature cocktails, decent beer and wine, and great deal. Burger and brew for 8 bucks. Also ribs and brew for 10(I think). Creative specials, such as roasted piquillo peppers stuffed with crab and cream cheese swimming in a creamy sauce. Cauliflower with sherry sauce, roasted potatoes with chorizo and a poached egg, Peruvian black bean stew with a grilled tortilla. I have been three times, and all three times the server was gracious and attentive. I love the atmosphere, classy yet casual. Very clean, and cloth napkins. The garlic shrimp tapa is probably my favorite menu item. Very flavorful and tender shrimp. For the person complaining they don’t have a good beer selection… The First National Taphouse is across the street. The Davis is a cocktail bar, in spite of their burger and brew special. Oh, and extra bonus points– when my friend asked if she could do a burger and brew with a cocktail instead of beer, they said, Yes of course, it might just be a dollar extra. I love it when places don’t act like its a huge hassle to make changes. I have a happy hour group that meets regularly, and The Davis is the group favorite. We have come twice and we will return!

Great night. Was traveling alone for business. Trying to navigate the oddity known as Eugene. Stopped at a few places that would have been great if I were with a group of friends. However, I was alone. Stumbled upon this beautiful, safe restaurant. Service was amazing. Had fresh Dover sole and a variety of handcrafted beverages. Love this place. Will definitely be back next time I’m in town. This meal was unexpectedly spectacular.

I’ve seen the Davis thing going on about 6 years now and I have to see I’ve seen a lot of ups and downs. I’ve always loved it throughout the process of it all. My first couple of years eating here blew me away. The food was cultured and on point, over the years I have been less inclined to eat here but rather shake my booty instead. The Davis is very much a hybrid of a restaurant/late night club. I have not eaten here recently, but the drinks are amazing! I love the bar tending staff, always have! If you prefer a sweeter drink, the Sexy is amazing… and will leave you feeling quite sexy. Their St. Germaine wit champagne is also a favorite of mine. I like the fact that they bring in some awesome DJ’s to spin during Friday and Saturday nights so people can shake their groove thang. The space is split into two halves which makes it nice if you want to host a private event or just get away from a creeper trying to dance next to you.lol. The bar sits right down the middle that way no matter what side you are on, you can order a drink. The art is awesome, all local artist including one of my favorite artists whose name is escaping me at the moment… she also designs for Sweet Cheeks bottle labels as well. I will eventually make my way back to the Davis for some food, and will update more once that has been accomplished. Cheers!

I love the Davis, the food is amazing! Staff are friendly & helpful — the owner & manager are superb. It’s a very nice restaurant for business lunches or a romantic dinner, they have a full bar so you can have a drink if you so desire.

Beef bourguignon was last night’s special and though I will rave about a dish on a restaurant I already enjoy visiting, I rarely update any reviews on an establishment. However, this entrée is not to be missed if it’s still available. The tender and delicious meat was cooked in a red wine along with pearl onions, carrots and mushrooms. The sauce comes out deep, aromatic and silky and if it weren’t for the two slices of crusty bread, I would’ve drunk it from the All-Clad sauce pan it was served in. Seriously amazing and wonderfully simple, this entrée knocked me off my feet. Did I mention that there was bacon? Oh, I paired it with a hearty California Cab and it was probably the best dinner I’ve had in a while; it was definitely the best dinner I’ve had at The Davis. In addition, the restaurant had undergone a remodel, placing the bar on the east side with less seating. There are a few high tables across the bar and the place certainly seems more roomy. It may accommodate the club scene better, though it has changed the feel of the dining slightly. Regardless, I still enjoy the food(totally blown away from last night’s dinner!) and the service. As a regular, I may encounter more positive experiences than others, but each of my visit has been consistently wonderful with the staff and the meals.

The Davis has undergone quite a few changes over the past couple of years. I think my three-year-old review deserves an update. First off, I want to note that Davis really deserves two separate reviews: one for the bar/club and one for the restaurant. Having said that, I also want to point out that the gap between those two aspects of the business seems to have widened over time. Whereas three years ago, I would constantly see the place packed with business lunchers, last week my man and I were the only people there from 12 — 12:45 on a Thursday. Late night is now the only time I see the seats packed here. And I think the change is for obvious reasons. On my last visit, for example, I noticed that the menu offerings were limited. I ordered the cheesesteak sandy, and didn’t even eat the bread – it was covered all over with small white fuzz… like it had been wrapped in a linty dishtowel. The meat is locally sourced, though, and I did enjoy it. Hubs had a salad, with balsamic vinegar and oil, and both the o and the v tasted very stale, sort of like they had been stored in an open container above a stove for awhile. The jalapeño tots we shared had a faint aftertaste of cold(and old) fryer oil. Although nothing was necessarily send-it-back bad, I have experienced better.
