I love this place because I can walk to it & their beverage selection is the best. Their food is so– so which is too bad.

When you want variety in beer this is the place to go. Unless you want a lager on tap, that seems to be a rarity here, but we are in the northwest. Their food is a hit or miss for me, their seasonal menu often seems to be the better option.

This place is amazing! So many beers on tap and such delicious food! We loved sitting outside at the picnic tables but the space is huge inside — good for groups and couples. We will be back to try more of everything!(The three cheese sandwich was very yummy).

Such a great spot! I had the steak salad with balsamic dressing and the Weissbier. Both were on point! It’s pretty loud inside, but mostly because of all the people flocking there for the deliciousness! So cool that if you leave your tab open, you can text your order from your table without waiting in line again! Will definitely be back for more!

The food is amazing and they have great seasonal menus. You sometimes have to wait for a table, but it’s totally worth it. Awesome selection of beer, on and off tap. Hard to go wrong! Food comes out quick.

Terrible customer service. Won’t be back and won’t recommend. Wait staff was rude and overwhelmed. Ordering is a pain. Too many better options for groups.

I love the Bier Stein, I’ve been visiting this place since it was over off 11th next to Cheba Hut. Fantastic selection and variety of beers and ciders on tap. In fact they even offer a couple of nitros on tap. They offer an excellent selection of to go bottle and cans as well. Their to go beer coolers are set up so you can create your own six packs. Oh, and don’t forget the excellent 20% off all beer to go! But of course no one likes drinking on an empty stomach so this place offers some great options to fill you up. While they are famous for the beer selection, people keep coming back for the paninis and beer cheese soup, let’s be real. In fact their paninis are so excellent that over the years prices on the meals has been raised to over $ 10 bucks. While not breaking the bank it is still a little spendy for the amount of food you get, and let’s be honest, paninis aren’t the epitome of fine cuisine and for $ 10 anywhere else you could get a HUGE sandwich… But no beer cheese soup. I highly recommend a stop in for some beer and good food, you won’t be disappointed. Despite the price hikes I’ll still stop by for their unbeatable variety.

Bier Stein drives off good customers manager in charge says, so what… New rules we collect a credit card or cash payment from everyone at the bar. Four different couples or singles come in and they are never asked for credit card or cash. I guess a regular(twice weekly) and a 20% tipper doesn’t qualify. Only nightly buds who tip better. Talked to a friend who use to work there and was told that is the way they work it. Cash only from now on and a very low tip.

A zillion beers to choose from in bottles and on tap. Food as well. It is a bit overwhelming when you first walk in, honestly. We found the food menu a few steps through the door and looked over the many options. Then stepped up to the ordering, well, station and gawked at the 26 beers on tap. Tap beer is sold in three sizes, 12 oz, ½ liter or pitcher. Two were on nitro. I went with the local IPA from Hop Valley called Oneness #6. It was a good choice. My date had Agrarian ale. Both paninis were great. My date said her kale soup lacked flavor even after shaking salt over the top. My «hand cup fries» were mostly over cooked small one inch pieces. Overall, excellent beers and sandwiches but a bit disappointed with the sides. But we would come back.

The Pulled pork was awesome! But the cheesy pork fries were out of this world! And the beer was great too many choices but that was part of the fun. The atmosphere was great will defiantly be back here!!!

Has got to be as good as any beer place in the NW, if not the west coast, if not the U.S. The only thing that would make this place better would be a water slide and plenty of outdoor garden seating. And maybe a burger. — Strike that– just took it down from 5 stars to 4 because the bathrooms are kind of shit. And not because it’s a beer place– compare bathrooms to Ninkasi, Hop Valley, or Oakshire. They need to invest in some new bathrooms, please.

A huge selection of beers and ciders both on tap and in the bottle. The food is also very good. I usually get the beer dip sandwich but my husband has switched it up on the different occasions we’ve been here and he always leaves full and happy. It’s pretty reasonably priced and you get a discount on bottles beer if you take it to go.

So I’ve finally made it to the much heralded Beer Stein. I say«finally» because I’m not a beer/alcohol lover, so I never could come up with a compelling reason to visit a place that has the word beer in its name. But I was feeling adventurous tonight. :) I loved the entire experience. I enjoyed the selection of every beer/cider I’ve never heard of, all setup much like an alcohol aisle in a supermarket. We tried two ciders, both were yummy. My favorite part of this adventure was that once we grabbed menus and put my card down for a tab… ordering food was as simple as texting my name/table/order to the desk. SO cool. I had a king Gary something or other sammich with a side of beer cheese soup. My gf ordered some kind of spinach panini and fries. It was all so so so good. My sammich disappeared within my belly immediately. I don’t even recall chewing It. I then ate her other half of sammich and most of her fries. This place is awesome. I loved the food, the people(staff), and the prices weren’t murderous either. I believe I paid $ 30 for two yummy sammiches and two ciders… including tip. Not too bad. That’s less than a large pizza at papas. I’ll be returning, for sure.

The Beer Stein, aka«Eugene’s Beer Heaven». If you like any kind of beer, you can find it at the Beer Stein. This is their 2nd location. The last time I was here, it was a small shop with a few coolers. Clearly they are popular, and for good reason, and needed to expand into this nice space on Willamette. They have somewhere around 10 – 14 coolers stocked with bottles of all kinds. They focus primarily on local, but had well known breweries across the country and a small overseas offering. If you’re coming in just to get beer to take home, it’s 20% off the price. Then you get the taps. 20 taps constantly rotating. They use that software that tells you the freshly tapped kegs and which ones are getting low. Pretty cool in case you want to get that beer before it runs out. The food here is quite good too. We had a pretzel with cheese and mustard as well as the nachos. It was a pretty solid plate of food. One thing that is cool about Beer Stein is the ordering system. They don’t have servers at the tables(at least they didn’t this Friday night), so you order everything at the bar. BUT you can also text your order to the bar. Each table has a specific number. From what I understand, you can order food, beer on tap, or beer in the bottle as long as you’ve got an open tab. I like!

When anyone comes to town to visit, I invariably take them to the Bier Stein. How many places in the U.S. can boast 1000 different bottles of beer spanning an entire beer-hall wall, as well as 30 evolving taps and a menu that accomplishes the rare feat of being extensive and delicious? Other things I love about the Bier Stein: –Service is fast, friendly and accommodating –Beers are always cold –Food is always hot –No need to put a good conversation on hold for a refill– you can text-a-beer from your table! –All beers are served in their intended glasses– the Bier Stein boasts a museum-like collection of Belgian tulips, Hefeweizen glasses, goblets, lambic flutes, etc. –Bottles are 20% off if you purchase them to-go –You can hear your conversations *throws confetti* –It’s always lively yet laid-back –It’s one of the few places in town that is good for large groups –The bathrooms are clean(just take all the stars, take them) –The lighting is soft –You can watch sports games, play board games or pool, or hang out by the fireplace –It’s kid-friendly(there’s an entire section of the beer wall devoted to organic sodas & other non-alcoholic drinks) –Two words: The Reuben. –Three words for herbivores: The hummus plate. In short, any time is a good time for the Bier Stein. Like right now. Wait no, it’s only 9:30am and BS has yet to open for lunch(cries).

I had been wanting to try this place for quite some time. My boyfriend had some friends come into town who love beer so I was finally able to drag them all here! My first impression… I had NO idea this place was so big! I knew about the wall of bottled beer from all over world but I had no idea how much space there was and how many tables this place had. It was really busy when we walked in and after we ordered I was worried we’d have no where to sit, but luckily we got a table. I ordered wine because I’m not much of a beer person. My boyfriend and his friends all got beer and were super happy with the selection. They also liked how you could come in just to buy bottles and then leave. This is a much better choice than any local grocery store selection we’ve seen! We ordered food and everything was really good. My phone died right when we got there so I was unable to take pictures(I hate that!) We got the sliders — they were good. The fries? Some of the best I’ve had! They reminded me of a way better version of Five Guys. I ordered the fried raviolis because I’m a sucker for anything with marinara. I liked them! My boyfriend ordered their chicken and donuts and everyone at the table had to try it because it was so good! All around great place. I will definitely frequent here more often. It’s a nice big space and great for meeting up with a group or just one person.

Food review: We were clamoring for some warm clam chowder in the evening after a rainy day and Bier Stein was one of the only places around still opened that served chowder. We each ordered a bowl of clam chowder and one sausage sandwich with sauerkraut and fries to share. Tried a taste of the beer cheese soup and although it tasted ok, it was very salty,(clam chowder is the way to go here). Clam chowder 4 stars, excellent and not too thick or creamy and hit the spot, it was served with fresh French bread baguette slices. Bratwurst Sausage Sandwich 1 star-really salty, horrible tasting sausage actually, and the fries were not much better. I so wished the seafood market next door wasn’t already closed.

The outside of the building looks like the inside might be a warehouse of some type. When you walk inside it is hard not to be amazed. The place is huge and full of season and an extremely large bottle selection. You order your food and drink at the counter and then take a number. They have several beers on tap or you can pick from the 100’s of bottles they have. The time it took our food to arrive was LIGHTNING quick. I was actually a bit skeptical until I ate the food. My friends had the Spaetzle and the other a sandwich(photos attached.) the Spaetzle I was told was not like she was use to, but it was good. My friend who had the sandwich was very pleased. We so split a pretzel which is a wheat pretzel, but the beer cheese soup was delicious. I had the chicken and donut holes. Amazing. This combo was delicious. The chicken are tenders so it is not real thick and it is very good. It comes with a dipping sauce that has siracha. The donut holes also have sugar and cinnamon. It is truly amazing. We’re glad we stopped on our way back to Portland. Good beer, God food and good prices. Every meal was under $ 10 that we had.
