I really wish I could give more stars since the sweet curry itself is really tasty. This location cannot seem to comprehend the difference between chicken and tofu. I always order tofu and at least 5 out of 7 – 8 times ordering food to go, I get home to find chicken as my protein, not tofu. When calling in to have it remade, the staff is incredibly rude. Tonight, for example, the staff took the order wrong over the phone and then had attitude when we asked for the order to be made correctly. Service always tends to lack at this location. It is really unfortunate because when you get your order made correctly, the food is great. Service goes far, even with great tasting food. I will be sticking to Hawaiian Time from here on out.

I would give zero stars if I could. My daughters and I came here after ballet this afternoon. We’ve seen it quite a bit and wanted to give it a shot since it was so close to the studio. The atmosphere isn’t horrible. It is a part of a rock climbing space which is weird. The service wasn’t the best but we were there for the food. After ordering, we went and sat down and the food came shortly after. The food came luke warm and tasted like chicken jerky dipped in teriyaki sauce. I was disgusted. I ordered a salad on the side and the dressing had mold growing on it. I told the woman at the counter and she offered me some ranch that she was pouring into little cups at the time. We barely touched our food but took it all to go to give to our chickens at home. I do not recommend this to anyone who wants Hawaiian food or any food for that matter. Hawaiian Time is 100% better. Do not waste your time or money(this place is way over priced) on this restaurant.

I’ve since found out Ron’s commitment to sourcing local organic meats and vegetables. This makes the price hike more«palatable»(pun intended). Plus Ron and Debi are awesome! Love the Luke’s Lava Plate!

I hope Ron’s Grill can pull out of the funk. Why is the chicken so black? It isn’t char grilled so what is the black color coming from? I assume it is bathed in liquid smoke? Anyway, I really want this place to be great because it could be great with just a few adjustments. The vibe is casual as you would expect from a hawaiian place. Rice has a nice sticky texture. The side choices are a bit odd — is pan fried corn a hawaiian thing? The mac salad had good flavor but had a TON of salt right on top like they accidentally spilled the whole shaker on it. I took it back up to the cashier to point out the mound of salt crystals on top of the mac salad and was met with ambivalence, like it was my fault or something. Anyway, wouldn’t it be great if there was a hawaiian place in my neighborhood that had great food and beers on tap? I’d be there all the time! Ron’s is «» this close to being that place.

Don’t ask me why I bothered going back to this place. My daughter wanted it and I reluctantly I agreed… Can u guess what happened? They can’t even figure out how to put the correct protein in your meal. It’s not like they substituted the wrong kind of meat. I ordered tofu! I mean, come on! How much of it do you sell? You can’t even put forth enough effort to READ??? Back on the«Don’t even bother» list.

My husband and I came here after our grocery shopping for something quick to eat. The setting is nice and but there was no one to be seen except for the cashier and two other employees sitting on counters in the back. You could also tell out it’s next to the nail salon because you can smell it. There was no greeting when we walked in and when we ordered our food it just seemed that they weren’t in any hurry to prepare our food. We got our food togo and I’m glad we did because it would have just been awkward with them just sitting there watching us. The food was terrible. We both got huli huli chicken. The rice was as if they made it ahead of time boxed it and just reheated it, dry and soggy. Chicken was dry with no flavor except maybe wood. Mac had no taste and there wasn’t even enough to tell if it was good or not. I will not be going here again. Hawaiian time is way better with good service and awesome food. Ron needs to figure something out.

There was a time that Ron’s was pretty good. Those days seem to be over. Worst version of Huli chicken ever! Tasted as if it was cooked a week ago then reheated to a consistency somewhere between jerky and wood. I believe Ron should do a revamp and try to get the quality up. Maybe he should go to Hawaiian time and compare their food to his(really no comparison). I will not be giving them another chance.

First, I want to make special note to say that our service was great. The guy who took our order was pleasant. He was also knowledgable about beer options and offered samples. This rating has nothing to do with the service. The food was terrible. I ordered the tsunami mixed plate and shared it with my partner. We picked the Huli Huli chicken and the Kalua pork with a side of Mac salad. Both meats were very dry, tasted old, & were bland compared to other Hawaiian eats around town. The mac salad was excessively salty which made it difficult to eat. We did eat more than half of our food because the service was so great and we felt awkward to just get up and leave after one bite. The restaurant was clean and had a nice Hawaiian feel to it, but we were the only dining guests & I think we discovered why. I’m sorry to say that I won’t be back.

I used to really like Ron’s, but lately they seem to be skimping on portion sizes. I used to not be able to finish a small grilled local plate, but now I have to order a medium just to be satisfied! Now if I order a small grilled local plate I can count the the number of tofu pieces on two hands. :-/

Not good. The meat was overcooked and dry. Wait staff was rude when I asked for my money back. I took one bite, and took it up to the counter th ask for a refund and left it, when they refused. I was having lunch with a friend so unable to take time to follow through with a manager. I will never go back. Wish I could give negative stars.

Way over priced — wow 7.50 for maybe a ½ cup of over salted of odd flavor meet with a scoop of rice — the girl working the counter could hardly muster a care about taking a order — will most likely never be back

Ron’s is loosing it grip. The other plate lunch place is growing and doing great. Ron’s is cutting back the menu? Last 3 time I’ve been here we were alone. That is not a good sign. Maybe they rely on the student lunches for cash flow, summer is not kind to them. I hope they can hang in there.

Rons Island Grill is pretty good but seems to be lacking the last few times I have been in. The meat is pretty dry and the prices are pretty high. I like how they have a few different locations that’s always nice.

Amazing!!! I love their food! Girls at the counter are always polite and professional. The housemade teriyaki sauce is great, but I like mine a bit more soy-ey… is that even an acceptable English word? Either way, Check them out. I’m a Chef, and I eat here at least once a week!

Ron’s has my very favorite tofu dishes! I’ve tried all the dishes that offer tofu as a protein option and I really enjoy them all about equally. :) Great macaroni salad as a side. I much prefer Ron’s over Hawaiian Time because HT does not offer any decent vegetarian options. Ron’s staff is much better at cooking veggies and offers excellent tofu.

Poor service for dine in. I will not be coming here again to dine in, I have had better experiences with them when I’ve gotten food to go. Unfortunately the portions aren’t as large as they used to be and the food is sometimes dry and overcooked. Other times it’s fine.

This is one of my main comfort foods and bonus they have local brews on tap and even do growler fills if you need some good beer in a pinch. Love that it’s locally owned by someone who fell in love with good food and wanted to bring it back to the mainland for us all to enjoy. Cheers to eating well!

I was really unimpressed. The huli huli chicken was over cooked with way too much teriyaki and my yakisoba noodles were just salty from the excess teriyaki on them. The macaroni salad was actually really good, it had a ranch flavor to it I believe. The amount you are given though is very small. The canned pineapple tidbits on top of my macaroni though were a little obtrusive. All in All, if you like a large pile of carbs with little macaroni and protein then this is your place.
