Great place — went in with the family for supper. The food is top notch and we left satisfied. Had their caprese salad for appetizer, chicken marsala, salmon ravioli and the walrus vegan rigatoni. The waiter was friendly and very knowledgeable about the food. The place was a bit difficult to find as the building looks like an office complex and parking was a bit tricky — but is completely worth the effort.

The pasta here is the best you can find in Eugene, I like the idea of the small restaurant even though it does get crowded, the server seems to know how to handle people and had a good knowledge of the wine menu and the food. Service could seem hectic at times. Hope they find a way to relocate to a bigger location soon.

We carefully picked this resturant for my daughter’s special birthday dinner. The reviews were all happy so we thought we had picked a great place to go. I had the three cheese lasagna, my husband had the spinach cheese ravioli and my daughter picked the shrimp alfredo. My dish was edible, the sauce was good, but the pasta was thick and gummy and the vegetables were tough and chewy. My husband’s portion was tiny, with no sides, and again, the pasta was thick and gummy, really bland. The filling was tiny and unappealing. It looked like store ravioli. My daughter’s was the only passable dish, and her shrimp were overcooked and crunchy. All in all, very disappointing. I expected better.

Wanted a nice place to celebrate birthdays with two of my sons and their girlfriends and this place was perfect. Was able to get a same day reservation for 5:45 pm. Everyone liked what they ordered and there was plenty(3 takeout boxes at the end). My sons loved the tiramisu dessert we shared. As another reviewer mentioned, the salads are large — the five of us shared one and it was just right. It felt good to be able to take everyone out to a nice place and not feel like I had blown my budget for the month. Glad we tried out Placido’s!

Great find. Odd location but walking distance from the Hilton. The best pesto cream sauce I have ever had — ordered on the smoked chicken ravioli. Even the little side of bread was deliciously simple. I’d be willing to bet on anything on the menu. The place was full of satisfied patrons.

Me and my Bride were looking for something different and boy did we find it! I had Spaghetti with Meatballs! Probably the best flavored meatball I’ve ever had. They were way to skimpy on the marinara sauce! I asked for more and they brought me a shot glass of sauce. I was a bit frustrated with that, but what ever. I didn’t like that water was served without ice, but the gladly brought me some. The Chicken Marsala my wife order was delicious and the portion was generous. I can a year she really loved the dish. I tried it and yes it was good, but a little to flavorless for me. If you like very mild spice you will love it, if you like spices pass on this one! I’m looking forward to going back and trying something different. Very hard to find by the way, and parking is confusing. I don’t give out 4 stars to to many places but they deserve it. Give it a try!

Love the food, ambience and our server Jessie. We were traveling from Mount Shasta, CA for one night, and this was the only place we wanted to eat at again. I think that alone speaks volume. Try this place if you haven’t already

I’ve never written a Unilocal review, but after visiting this restaurant, I had to share to as many people as possible that this Resturant is fantastic! The food is authentic, and leaves your mouth watering and wanting more. From the salad to the dessert, it will quickly become your go to place for Italian food.

This place was amazing. It was a little bit of a wait because of the size of the Establishment. Food was outstanding. Authentic Italian to the tee. Service was amazing and so courteous. Definately check this out.

If you want good pasta, like really, really, amazingly good pasta, this is the place. We stopped in because the restaurant we were going to go to was closed– and I am so glad it was! This place is nestled on the backstreets behind the Amtrak station and is very inconspicuous. When we drove by we were worried it was closed– but alas we stopped and much to our delight it was open until nine. I ordered the special and my partner ordered the spaghetti. They served us an appetizer of crostinis and some marinara– the first taste of what would be the fantastic meal ahead of us. The special was spicy and had bits of delicious spicy sausage in it. The sauce was fresh and flavorful and the pasta was cooked to perfection. My partner was delighted with the spaghetti, which had a delightful red sauce and perfectly cooked pasta. But the real winner of the night were the meatballs. I love meatballs and because of that I have eaten a lot of meatballs in my life, but I have never had as good of meatballs as this restaurant offered. They were flavorful and perfectly cooked and just downright delicious. I am excited to go back and try other items on their menu– a real winner! One tiny tip though– the atmosphere is not cozy — it is more cafeteria like. This might not work for everyone, but the food is really really good!

The sole reason I love Eugene. My roommate convinced me to come here and so we ventured out to this sorta hole in the wall kinda place and I fell in love. This is by far the BEST pasta I’ve ever tasted. I’ve never had such a soft, yet perfectly al dente pasta ever. I can never go back to shitty Olive Garden again. Never. Not even for the breadsticks. The menu is somewhat small, but that’s just me being used to Olive Garden. It’s extensive enough to give variety so that’s always a good thing. My roommate ordered the chicken marsala and I ordered the chicken pesto. And my god. it was all amazing. I highly recommend trying the chicken marsala over EVERYTHING. This dish was amazing. The waiter was very polite, especially for having two scrubby college kids come in. Offered us dessert which I think he said came from Sweet Life, which is a local bakery/dessert shop. We decline, but Sweet Life makes amazing stuff.

My friend and I were road tripping from the Bay Area to Vancouver and we decided to stop by Eugene to take a look and have some dinner. We drove around and checked Unilocal(of course) but could not find anything we agreed on. Finally, we stumbled upon the Placido’s Pasta Shop listing and saw all the rave reviews so we definitely had to check it out. Upon entering the restaurant, I saw that it was a cute little space, very minimal, modern, but cozy. Each table had its own little candle and the ambience was great. We were promptly greeted then seated at a table next to the window. We ordered their house salad, 2 orders of the chicken pesto fettucine(we were starving), and the lemon cheesecake to end the meal. House Salad — i never thought a simple salad with feta, candied walnuts, and mixed spring greens would make me so happy. I dont know what they did to it but it was a great salad! So delicious. I never usually rave about simple house salads. Chicken Pesto Fettucine — in my books, nothing beats fresh pasta. The texture is so different and it just soaks up the sauce amazingly. The chicken pesto pasta was on the dryer side, so it was the type that isnt swimming in a pesto cream sauce or anything. the pasta was tossed in thick homemade pesto. It was so flavorful and the fresh pasta was amazing. 5STARS! Lemon Cheesecake — we dont usually order dessert when we eat out but looking around at the other tables, every single one had ended their meal with a piece of this cheesecake. So apparently they make it in-house and they had just one piece left! We thought we would just take a couple of bites and take it back to the hotel with us to enjoy later, but nope, we ate the entire thing. It was so creamy and the texture was nice and thick. And sometimes the problem with cheesecake it that it can get so heavy and overwhelming, but when you add the lemon to it, it really cuts through all of that. Great, attentive service paired with great food. You can tell they really care about each component of their dishes here. Now, I only wish I lived closer to Eugene or had an excuse to drive by it more often.

Service was very good, wine pours were generous in overlarge glasses, and I can’t say enough about the food. I haven’t savored pasta this fresh in a long time. It’s cooked perfectly al dente, and I can’t wait to take some home and try it out in my own kitchen. $ 6 a package! The dishes are flavorful and well-presented. The menu isn’t extensive, but it’s diverse enough. Their style is more olive-oil based and northern Italian than heavier marinara-based southern. Some of both, of course… It’s a bit small inside, but the view outside is great looking across the street. The tables on the patio are quality, long wooden picnic-style, but the space might need a divider from the road to dampen the noise, and maybe smaller tables with umbrellas for the sun and rain? I was worried for the server’s ankles, who had to awkwardly step into the tiny space remaining between table and concrete wall to reach us. He was gracious(and graceful) about it. The second time I went in, for a gift certificate(which they don’t yet have, unfortunately) the hostess was very nice. Service appears to be a top priority. I love this new restaurant!

We returned for a second visit on my birthday, now that tomatoes are in season and we could try the caprese salad – it was flavorful, with juicy, ripe tomatoes, fresh basil and fresh mozzarella. Paired with a crisp, complex Eola Hills Chardonnay, it was the best birthday cake I can imagine! We shared a Walrus pasta with local eggplant, zucchini, mushrooms, and red peppers in the house marinara. It’s a vegan dish(made with eggless rigatoni cooked with the perfect al dente tooth). But as an omnivore in need of protein, I added house made meatballs. They were rich and spicy, redolent of chilies and fennel. A dusting of Parmesan made it the perfect summer plate.

Tonight was my second visit to Placido’s. I loved it the first time and just as much tonight. I had the Scampi tonight. Fresh tasty shrimp in a slightly spicy garlicky sauce over fresh linguine. Oh Yum! Portion size was generous for all 4 entrees on our table.(Both ladies took at least half home). Atmosphere is nice. High ceilings, great music. Service is good. The Tiramisu and the lemon cheesecake were both wonderful. You need to try this place. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food.

I just spent a week on the road(Oregon and California) and Placido’s was the BEST meal I had on the trip. I got the Chicken Marsala and everyone in my group agreed it was to die for. Sooooo good. My date got the ravioli with cream pesto sauce, also very good. Additionally, our waitress(July 12th at dinner time) was so sweet with a nice sense of humor, can’t recall her name but she delivered GREAT service. If I was a local, I’d probably eat there often but will go back next time in Eugene.

Delicious, perfect handmade pasta. And I am picky. They passed the spaghetti and meatballs test with aplomb. I had room only for half of the generous serving, so will savor the rest for lunch tomorrow. If you want to dine and dash, come here another time, when you are more relaxed, so that you can appreciate what is being made for you. What a wonderful, intimate small gem. Better try it before everyone else finds out about it. OMG, the tiramisu is to die for.

Carmelita Spats closed some time ago with little fanfare, and this place popped up in its old spot. A lot of the same problems are still here, and the interesting chances the old place took with its menu are gone now. DLW and I stopped by for Friday night date night to find the place half-full. The shipping container building it’s housed in is still a little confusing to navigate. The décor is pretty much the same, but the large central table has been removed to make room for more conventional tables. Still about 30 seats, and still only one server trying to cover the whole place. One of the cooks came out occasionally to help out. I know a new place will often operate on a bare bones staff, but if you’re offering full service, you need enough people to make sure that offer isn’t just a label. Perhaps because of the low staffing it took a while to get each phase of the meal. We started with a house salad, nicely presented and fresh, and a couple glasses of wine from the short but sweet list. We were glad we got the salad, because it took another 15 minutes for our entrees to come out. They emphasize the freshness and homemade quality of the pastas, and every entrée is a pasta dish. DLW’s three-cheese lasagna was a vegetarian dish, with carrots still pretty toothsome, but quite good. I had the special that night, spaghetti with Bolognese sauce, with hearty beef and pork laden tomato sauce over properly al dente pasta. Portions were adequate, not overwhelming. No bread service was offered, not even for an upcharge, rather curious for an Italian place. It certainly wasn’t a bad experience, but the concept is awfully safe and seems undistinguished. Eugene already has Noli for«classy» Italian, and Oregon Electric also serves Italian in a setting far grander. Plenty of chains offer the same fare cheaper if lower quality. The isolated location can’t help matters. If Carmelita Spats couldn’t survive here, what chance does this place have?

I have been 3 times to the new pasta restaurant. The first time I had the lasagna and the house salad. It was delicious. Best lasagna I’ve ever had. The second time I had the pesto pasta and substituted tofu in place of the chicken. This was also very tasty. The third time I went I had the lasagna again and a Cesar salad. The salads are large enough to share. I recommend it. The staff is very friendly. The food is all organic and house made. The food is well priced. It’s worth checking out. :) I know I will go again. I love good healthy food.
