First, let me say, we are vegans, and while this is veg and vegan«friendly», it’s not a vegan or vegetarian restaurant. We have been coming here for lunch for about 7 years, any time we are in the area. It’s a VERY long drive for us(5 hours) but we never miss an opportunity to stop here. SO, we were here and stopped for lunch, ordered the chili, which has always been spectacular,(left a Unilocal about it several years ago!) I finally talked my husband into trying it, plus a Kombucha. Side of guacamole each. When I got my order I dumped all my guac. in, as I always do, and took a bite. The chili was cold. I dug around, thinking I cooled it by putting the guac in, but nope, it was cold! My husband hadn’t put his guacamole into his chili, and his was cold also. I was very disappointed! So, after thinking about how disappointed I was after the 3rd bite… I went up to the counter and explained to the person at the register that the chili was cold and she jokingly said«yes, it’s new we are serving it cold now» and she laughed, meaning, no, they weren’t, it was just a flip response to me!!! The manager was standing next to her… so about 4 minutes later, SHE came over and said she was sorry, but she would take our name down and next time we were in she would«comp us «our lunch! We said we drive 5 hours to get here, so, very unlikely that would help. She apologized again. So. Long story short, The temperature on soup needs to be 120 degrees to be legally servable or the place could be shut down by the health department… I was worried that I could get food poisoning. And, having also been in food service, the correct response would have been to bring replacement bowls as soon as possible at the proper temperature without having to be asked. So, very disappointed very unlikely to try again.

we came here last week for dinner, after wanting to try it for a lot of time got two different bowls and a beer the food was good, the portions were right not too big, not too small, but nothing special either… mine had green beans, broccoli, tofu and some rice, my lady’s was a little better with the tempeh, quinoa and avocado also, the space is fairly big, and I like the kind of pictures they hung up(we were sitting under the cycling one) but I feel that the place still looks quite empty and that whoever put it together does not seem too convinced of what they were doing we might be willing to give it a second chance some other time

I eat here at least a couple of times per week. The food is awesome and staff is fantastic! Enough choices on the menu to have something different every time. Good healthy food at a reasonable price.

Ingredients are fresh and sources responsibly. The meals they put together are amazing and there is something to suit anyone. It’s got the reputation of being a vegan/vegetarian restaurant but they do serve quality meats as well, so really anyone could be happy with their food. You walk away feeling good because the meals are well rounded while their sauces have delicious pizazz. The smoothies and juices are also strong and tasty and I would recommend the Marionberry Ginger Smoothie or the flu shot juice, both of which are so yummy and so good for the body!

Best alternative to Chipotle I have ever found. Good food with better than average ingredients. I almost exclusively got their burritos, which are usually the best things the have. Not an excellent place to eat at, however. Can get noisy and crowded. Also, my friends and I seemed to be the only ones who cared, but we thought some of the artwork was in bad taste for a place of business. One item, is a picture of Barack Obama meshed with Abraham Lincoln which we all, partisan views aside, thought was in bad taste. Other than that, this was one of the few places I regularly ate at in Eugene and I appreciated it being here.

I love this place! The food is great and not overpriced, and the staff is friendly. I’ve tried a few different things from their menu, but their burritos are the best! Tastes so healthy and fresh.

Great variety for health and taste. The kombucha is tasty and the burrito bowls are good for leftovers as well. Only suggestion is that the Mole burrito bowl needs hot sauce and ask for avocado.

Driving from Washington toward LA, I stayed overnight in Eugene Oregon and the next day on my way out I found this café that serves a lot of Vegan choices! I ordered a seasonal Vindaloo with Tempah dish and I forgot that I hate cucumber yogurt! When I got the dish I tried to eat it but I couldn’t stomach it. I decided to order the Che burrito to go and just write off my bad order as another learning experience in my life. LISA took my order and I told her that I didn’t like it but that it was my fault, and as she took my order she noticed how I was eyeing the oatmeal chocolate chip cookie and without hesitation she placed it on my new order without a charge, but wait it gets better, she didn’t even charge me for my Che burrito! No, seriously. I made a bad first order and because I didn’t like it she didn’t want me leaving with a bad impression of the café. What a great employee and great service! Seriously, you just don’t find that kind of service anymore. The Laughing Planet is lucky to have her! Thanks, Lisa!

Located walking distance from the Lane Events Center. I ventured here one day because I was in the middle of a 3-day roller derby tournament needed food pronto. Thank you, Unilocal, for not leading me astray. I ordered a Thai bowl that was super delish — rice and bok choy and chicken with peanut sauce. YUM. Reminded me of a burrito bowl from Chipotle but with a Thai spin. I got it to go and it was ready very quickly. Price was very reasonable. I carried it back to the convention center and had a picnic on their lawn. My only complaint is that I wasn’t given a bag to carry my take out in, and the food container was a bit hot. I understand being eco-friendly but since I was on vacation I didn’t have my own reusable bag with me at the time.

I like Laughing Planet, but I don’t love it. Their salads are good; however, I’m not really into their burritos or tacos. I had the three taco plate yesterday. The mushroom taco was my favorite out of the three although they were all fine. I was expecting a little more to them since they are priced at $ 9.50. I thought they should be about $ 7.50 given the small serving. I will go back again since their menu is broad and I would like to find something I love. I won’t order anything with meat again though. Their inventive veggie dishes are delightful and their strongest point.

i love supporting this place. one, the food is awesome and a wonderful place for vegans. any frustrations i have of high prices are generally quickly quieted by the politics of this place. From what I can tell employees are taken care of through wage and benefits and I like giving my business to such a company. my favorite vegan treats are the Soylent Green with tahini sauce and the southwestern green chili burrito(not default vegan so get without the cheese). They do have vegan cheese and sour cream. the pbj smoothie might be the greatest thing ever. And the cookies. I’m in love with the snickerdoodles. I think all their cookies are vegan, but it will be no prob to check as things are labeled wonderfully. yay!

Bubba. Burrito. That is all that needs to be said. It’s so good. I moved away from Oregon and on my trip back here, I had to come back here for the bubba. It’s God’s gift to the crunchy-hippie-Eugene-burrito-loving world.

Love this place! Call in or dine in, it is awesome either way! The kids always enjoy a burrito or the Spankys bowl is always a favorite. I enjoy their salads and my hubby always finds something to go for. When we dine in we bring other dinosaurs to play with the ones that live there, the kids pass the fairly short amount of time waiting for our food, playing with Dino’s! Thank you for good local go to food that’s pretty fast too!!!

Laughing Planet is quite alright! One of my favorite things about this place is that the food is fairly fast and healthy. People watching can be great. The décor is a lot of fun with dinosaurs on the tables. I love the Frank Zappa posters and lots of R. Crumb’s work including Mr. Natural. Have you seen the documentary film Crumb(1994)? If you haven’t you should as it is a great film, but I’m not going to review the film I’m reviewing Laughing Planet on Blair in Eugene. Healthy options and plenty of vegan options. It seems some of the places I frequent most always have nutritional yeast and a variety of house sauces including Sriracha. They have them here of course it is almost required like Kombucha on tap at the Eugene NFS. Laughing Planet is a good place for a vegan or vegetarian to bring their vegan or vegetarian date or friend or omnivore gluten-free paleo date, friend, or relative. Went there this past Friday and was quite busy with plastic dinosaur toys on the table. The first table we sat at had a T. Rex on it and water from a spider planet above us was dropping on us and our table. My friend from out of town knew that the NW was famous for rain, but not indoors at a funky artsy hip healthy restaurant. So we switched tables to sitting underneath a Critical Mass poster with a Triceratops on it. Much better! I had the Grains and Greens Salad: Mixed lettuces, kale, sprouted lentils, quinoa, cherry tomatoes, radishes, dried cranberries, and grilled broccoli in a basil-garlic vinaigrette. Topped with toasted sunflower seeds. I had a side of guacamole and vegan sour cream w/it. When it arrived it looked like real sour cream, so checked with the server. He said they use toffuti sour cream. I’m familiar with the brand and used it years ago, but would be a nice touch if they made in house vegan sour cream. My friend had the Soylent Green Bowl which is: Sautéed kale and steamed broccoli on a bed of quinoa topped with house-marinated tempeh and your choice of chimichurri or garlic tahini sauce. She took half home, but enjoyed it very much. We split a Hempseed Hazelnut cookie for desert that was great as well. I’ll be back and my friend has a fond memory of Eugene!

Overall, this place is pretty solid. Whenever I want comfort food that won’t hit me like a gut bomb I go here. It offers a great selection of vegetarian and vegan options but has plenty of chicken and beef options for the meat lovers as well. There are even gluten free dishes clearly labeled on the menu. They use local, seasonal ingredients and always have a rotating special for the week. Unfortunately they took the«Thai Me Up» burrito off of their menu. I went in and asked for it, only to be told it was no longer listed. They refused to make the Thai Bowl(essentially the same thing) in burrito form. Ok. That’s weird. Even weirder, the next time I went in I casually mentioned that I was bummed the Thai Me Up was no longer available. The cashier told me that even though it is not on the menu it is still in their system so if you know about it, you can still order it. Why didn’t they just tell me that the first time? I’m also disappointed they are no longer doing their 7 After 7 deal where they offered a burrito and pint of beer for $ 7 after 7pm. I’d love for them to bring it back!

In Eugene for work and was looking for a great vegetarian place for lunch! So very glad I found this place! I had the Springtime bowl which was quinoa, spinach, beans, pico, and asparagus. So tasty! I believe they have some meat options for the non veggies. Everything is super fresh and so tasty… you really can’t go wrong with whatever you order! I will be back for lunch tomorrow before I leave town. Oh, and they have really fresh fruit juices, will be trying that next.

$ 10.75 for a burrito and a fancy, healthy juice. I was surprised by how good this place was… and friendly, and fast, and filling! They had multiple hot sauce options, including my favorite: tapatio! But after asking for the medium salsa on the side, I regretted not keeping it in there because it was might tasty. I would’ve taken some home if I had been allowed to do so. The juice is why I didn’t give Laughing Planet 5 stars. It wasn’t horrible by any means; I just didn’t fall in love with wit what I ordered. It was a cucumber, apple, kale, ginger, lemon juice. More ginger and lemon than anything else. Spicy and too foamy. I tried the chicken burrito with pinto beans, chicken, brown rice, jack cheese, and pico de gallo on a wheat tortilla. I was told that this is one of their stars, and it did not let me down. On my way out, I saw someone had the quesadilla and that looked good too. Parking is really easy because there’s a lot. Though I was hesitant to try it, I would DEFINITELY recommend Laughing Planet :)
