We had Glen redo the wood floors before we moved into our home. The floors were in bad shape, the previous finish was turning milky and chipping in places, with scratches evident everywhere. When he came to give an estimate he was punctual, accommodating on giving various quotes for ‘chunks’ of work to see what would fit in our budget, and was willing and patient with all my questions. He provided solid advice and recommendations. He is now a one man show, which means he is in total control of the process and he takes great pride in his workmanship. It looks like previous reviews are from the time when he had employees. It also means he is busy and responses and communication can sometimes be delayed.

In 2006 I had Hardwood Glen refinish my entire home. When Glen came out to inspect the finished job, he noted that a faulty product had been used on the pine floor in the living room(rest are oak). He was supposed to rectify the problem, but after several phone calls, I gave up, my fault, I should have persisted. Fast-forward 9 years, 6 of which have been renter occupied, and the floor looks pretty bad(gaps between the boards). Just a warning that follow up is not good. I was totally satisfied otherwise. The oak floors still look great!

I would give ZERO stars if possible. The stain on our floors looks terrible — uneven & has started to flake. Glenn has been completely unresponsive in our requests to fix the problem. We are going to have to hire another contractor to fix his mess. Do NOT hire this person. You will regret it.

Hardwood Glen is horrible and is very dishonest. He abandoned the job and refused to come back and finish what he was paid to do. He leaves less experienced and not licensed or bonded alone to do the job but it’s obvious they don’t have the skill or experience so the work is inconsistent. He hooked up the ice maker wrong which leaked and destroyed a large part of the floor. Glen refused to call us back and when he did he immediately admitted it was the ice maker and then pulled out a bunch of the flooring and then refused to come back. He stole items from our house including the unopened box of wood we needed to finish the job. This man will collect the money and run. I agree with the earlier review in regard to his anger problem. It’s unbelievable how he talks to his workers and us after he was paid in full. Please stay away, we hate to see someone else go through what we have. We paid for the entire job in Feb. and it’s still not finished!

It started as a good experience and then went down hill from there. Glen came out and gave a quote and which was a great price. We set up a time for him to come out and do the work and he no showed. I followed up about it with multiple calls and emails and still haven’t heard from him. Were just happy he didn’t start the work and then bail.

We had a less-than-satisfactory experience with this company and the owner in particular, and would not use the company again. These relate specifically to attention to detail, quality of workmanship, and professionalism of the owner. Two of our friends have had very similar experiences with the owner(related to «anger» issues) but I am reviewing based on the particulars of our personal experience only. We had most of an entire single story resurfaced prior to moving in to our current home; the work was done fairly quickly. During the project, protective sheeting was hung to protect carpeted areas from sawdust. However, the furnace/heat pump was left on for about a day before the workers realized, and the resulting dust residue drawn into the ducts required a separate cleaning by a furnace company prior to our move. After moving in, we found areas in corners where some moderate sized areas of residual sawdust were just covered up by the finish — they are now permanently under the finish leaving a gritty sandpaper feel to the corners. Not in a high-traffic area, but shouldn’t be there in the first place. When we pointed this out to the owner, his anger response was impressive, mostly directed at his workers, but clearly unhappy we were noticing defects in quality of workmanship. In addition, our project was covered by insurance as a result of vandalism to the home, and he had two occasions where he had a «rant» to us about the delay in payment from the company(this is similar to our friends experience). No experience with other companies in the area, but we will certainly look elsewhere if future floor work is needed.

I have not ever had a better outcome or experience with a contractor. Glen was wonderfully friendly, honest, professional, and punctual. And, what’s most important, is he and his crew did beautiful work. We had a couple bids and his was, by a little bit, the lower. He did, though, give us so much more information and options than did the other bidder. One thing he told us about that no other floor company mentioned is going with a European hand-rubbed oil look instead of the more common(in the states) glossy film. Not only does it look and feel so much better than a film finish, but it is so very much easier to maintain and the normal movement of the wood and normal traffic are not an issue. If there is any damage, spot repairs are easy, where they are not possible with a film finish. Since the oil(Magic Oil) hardens the wood, the floor will hold up to traffic very well. Glen just dropped by, now about two weeks after the work, just to check in. I cannot recommend him enough. — David
