Wonderful first experience for my husband and I. We got a cleaning and x-​rays. I can actually after walking out able to eat. Most of the cleanings I have had have been painful and miserable. He and his staff have a great sense of humor and attitude. Yes, our appointment was pushed out a little late, but for the fact that he didn’t hurt and was logical in work we need done, gets a great review. We were called regarding the tardiness, which was fine to me.

My daughter and I have been going to Dr. Bob for over 20 yrs. Even tho we now live in Portland area we gladly make that long drive. He and his staff have always treated us with kindness and respect. We are both scaredy-​cats and with gentleness and a wonderful sense of humor he puts us at ease. I hate surprises and he explains everything he is doing and if an option exists he patiently waits for you to decide. His patients aren’t just an income, he genuinely cares. As long as Dr. Bob practices we will be his patients.

First of all, he costs a lot. Initial exam and 4 x-​rays cost me nearly $ 300, comparing with the cost of other dentists, which is around $ 150. However, this is not the primary reason why I gave such low rating. The reason is that he made such stupid mistake. I miss two teeth in the upper front. But he mistakenly wrote that I need three implants in his cost estimates. I pointed out that. Then he said he made a mistake and laughed it out. I cannot believe that doctor, like him with such reputations, can make this absurd mistake.

I’ve gone to Dr. Carmichael since I was a little girl and let me tell you — the dental hygienist (who I can never remember her name) is so nice, if you’re older that is. While she was never a fan of me as a child, she has grown to be quite great to talk with as I’ve gotten older, and she talks expressively about her daughters. Dr. Carmichael, however, is very different now that my parents no longer accompany. Ever since I started going on my own (since I was 16) the service has changed significantly, and he even violated patient confidentiality when I was 20 and called up my father and told him how bad my teeth were that visit. I take care of my teeth, and while I admit I let things slip on that visit, it was unprofessional to call up my father, whom I no longer resided with, about my teeth. The last time I went in for a cleaning, he insisted there was nothing wrong with my teeth, and poked at them with a drill-​like thing, despite my complaining of severe pain in my upper left molars when eating extremely sweet things like chocolate bars, and increased sensitivity to at-​home-​whitening products. The pain has only gotten worse, and I am not going back.

just an fyi: i just called about an appointment and they require upfront payment if you don’t have insurance. thought someone else out there might like to know that

I really like this dentist. He’s patient and takes his time explaining everything to you. He has a great sense of humor. He did my initial cleaning and the hygienist was very friendly and helpful. The wait was a little long, but luckily they have lots of magazines in the lobby to read in order to keep you busy.
Price of the services were fair and he didn’t recommend any optional treatments such as whitening. Just a good honest dentist.

My family has been going to Dr. Bob for our dental care since 1982. He is nearly painless, caring, funny, friendly, reasonably priced, and has surrounded himself with one of the nicest, most courteous and competent staffs found in any Eugene area health care ofiice. He’s great with kids and especially good with seniors and people with disabilities. If you can get in to see him you won’t regret it.
