This place was decent. When every other restaurant had a 45 minute wait, this place got us right in with a decent menu. Food was«decent», nothing to write home about. If you don’t want to pay a million dollars for a steak, and don’t want to stand outside everywhere else, give this place a try.

I stopped in Nicky’s on a Friday night in June. The old-school steakhouse look and feel was really cool. We were seated as a party of 9 in the lounge next to the piano player. Ray Young was a classy gentlemen and entertainer. Our server was a tall man with a ponytail. He took great care of our group. My first course was a shrimp cocktail. It was fresh and excellent. I then consumed a bowl of Clam Chowder. My entrée was the filet with loaded baked potato. The food, service, entertainment, and setting were all excellent.

The food was good. Prices aren’t bad. Staff was friendly but stood around a lot in the lobby. Not being super accommodating. I kind of felt like I was in their way. I’m not sure if the gentleman that seated us was the owner or manager, but he wasn’t exactly«inviting.»

Sweet waitstaff and a pretty spot by the river does not make up for very inferior food. The rib eye steak was tough and terribly full of fat and gristle. I appreciate you can get a bloody rare steak here with nice seasoning but… my friends small sirloin was very tough as well and the trout was breaded and over cooked. The field greens salad was limp and the dressings were clearly commercial out of a big jug, not the homemade that was promised. Granted, I am a foodie from San Francisco, but I can’t believe there isn’t better food available in Estes Park. The ladies’ bathroom was very clean.

I wouldn’t waste your time with this place. Over priced and not seasoned well at all, manger on duty was beyond rude. I asked for my steak medium well it came out perfect except no taste, my husband asked for his medium which typically has pink in it. Well his came out exactly like mine and when he asked to get it redone the waitress was rude about it. Then the manager came over and said«exactly how much red do you want in it because the one you sent back was cooked perfectly?» Also rude and I would never expect a manager to act this way when you are paying $ 30.00+ a plate. They never checked back on us only to bring our bill. There are better places where the customer service is way more friendly and appreciative of your business. Wouldn’t recommend at all.

Insanely over priced for the quality of food that is served. They charge gourmet cuisine prices and serve frozen, poorly cooked food. I gave them two stars instead of one because the hostess was really nice.

We stopped by at around 730pm on a Saturday night. Though it appeared on the outside that the place was packed we found it was not. We got a great seat next to the creek(though it was too dark to see much). Our waiter was wonderful. Very attentive. Always made sure that our drinks were full. We started off with a salad and clam chowder soup. The salad was mine and it was good. No complaints. The soup was my boyfriends. He said it was good also. I had the lasagna parmigiano and it was very tasty. I’m picky with lasagna as my mom makes the best. This was pretty close to tasting like hers. My boyfriend had the chicken marsala. He is s picky eater but said it was pretty good. For dessert we ordered the apple caramel cheesecake. Unfortunately they must have ran out but he improvised and brought us two desserts. A plain cheesecake and an apple type cake. They were both delicious. It was a bit pricey which is why I gave 4 stars. I would go back again but it would have to be for a special occasion with prices so high.

Worst food I’ve had in a resturant in years. The walleye was absolutely wretched. Couldn’t even eat the tries! My two friends threw their food out. Just terrible

We were seated a little slow. Once seated, the service was great. We ate in the lounge. The food was fantastic. We had steaks and I had a Greek salad with my steak. The salad was delicious. The steaks were cooked to perfection.

Cozy, quaint, and full of character, the lounge offered a fantastic space to enjoy a cocktail and catch the Oregon game. Walking into the lounge is like a big hug, dimly lit with a cute little fireplace, signed Chianti bottles hanging from the rustic ceiling, a pianist, and jolly people everywhere. We loved it. Having read the reviews beforehand, we opted to avoid the steak dinner and instead, go for the soup and salad bar. The salad bar was lacking a bit and the soup was average but, hey it’s not often that you find a soup and salad bar anymore. The service was on point. Our waitress was friendly and genuine. Moral of the story, if you’re looking for a warm, cozy place for a drink, go here. If you are looking for a high end steakhouse, maybe try another spot.

Tip: Sit in the bar. No kids allowed, fireplaces, good service, the real restaurant menu I have a friend who used to live in Estes and on a recent weekend trip she insisted we come here for dinner. She loves the place. It was only ok for me and overpriced. The best thing of the night was my drink. The Chi Chi has piña colada mix but with raspberry vodka. Holy cow was it tasty. I could have had 10 of those. But I was driving so stuck with 1. And it came in a super fun tiki glass. I ordered the mahi mahi. Friend ordered the prime rib. I think that’s what to get here because she was a very happy camper. My fish was just blah. The baked potato that came with it was better. Each entrée comes with soup or salad. We both chose the clam chowder and it was alright(but I recently had chowder on the Cali coast that understandably blew this away). For the fish and a drink I laid out around $ 50. I would have been more satisfied with something cheaper elsewhere. If she drags me back again, I’m trying the prime rib.

A lesson learned today. Reading Unilocal reviews before going into a restaurant is a pretty good idea(and one I will remember in the future). We got stuck in traffic in Estes Park and were pretty hungry after a morning of hiking, so we stopped in the first place we could find. And so, we discovered Nicky’s. Chicken salad sandwich served on stale bread(with way too much mayo). Chicken and rice soup without much chicken and gooey rice. Even the Diet Coke tasted flat and off. The potato chips were OK, as that’s pretty hard to mess up. WAY overpriced for bad food! Well, at least we had a few flies buzzing around the table.

Ordered the chicken fried chicken, it was just ok, felt like cafeteria food. Plates were made of cheap metallic material. Husband tasted chicken said it felt slimy but it was ok to me. The gravy was yellow rather than white and flavorless. Meh… salad was overly dressed, and not on the side as requested. For almost $ 14 I thought it was overpriced and frankly, nothing worth mentioning. I gave stars for courtesy and ambiance.

Food was a solid meh at best, I don’t eat beef so I usually go in a place like this for grilled chicken. Not an option it’s fried or chicken alfredo. I opted for the pasta and got a small portion of noodles and chicken that was heavily flavored with rosemary, it gave a nice soapy taste. The«garlic bread» tasted like the butter sauce you put on popcorn at the theater. And my wife didn’t even eat her food, she had the lamb gyro and the meat was mushy and gross. Won’t be coming back.

Stopped by for dinner since it was close to our hotel. Very friendly service staff and comfortable surroundings. We sat in the garden restaurant. Wide variety of choices. The food was tasty. Had a gyro platter with a Greek salad due to a review from another reviewer on Unilocal.Good choice! The chicken fingers were a bit over fried and the other good was good but not great. Good choice for a quick bite.

PRIMERIBANDSEAFOODBUFFET??? Yum! False alarm everybody. Terrible food. Prime rib tasted like iron. Seafood tasted like it was made hours before we got there and it probably shipped from Alaska weeks ago. The deep fried«cod» smelled like the near by gas station’s bait tank. My girlfriend ordered Chicken Marsala of the menu, hoping for better results. It took about 45 minutes to arrive and tasted like chicken & broccoli from Li Wong’s palace and sprinkled with MSG. The resort is totally fine, but please save yourself the $ 30.00 and eat somewhere else for dinner. Happy trails!

First of all, I just have to say, this place is not cheap. But you do get what you pay for. The ambiance is lovely, the food is exceptional(best spanakopita ever, best roasted duck ever), and the service is friendly and superbly attentive. We were especially pleased to be seated at a table with an incredibly view of the creek. Overall, the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary.

I really hate giving a place 1 star, but this place earned it. We were completely ignored by the waitstaff for 30 minutes. Servers literally walked by our table more than a dozen times and didn’t even say«hi» or «I’ll be with you in a minute.» The place wasn’t that busy. It certainly should have easily been handled by two servers with any amount of pride in their jobs. Finally, we asked the bus-girl to send a server over. After watching her talk to both servers with no success, she got a manager to come over. She asked if we were still waiting on our cocktails. Nope. We’re still waiting to be acknowledged by your staff. She kindly took our drink orders. Ten minutes later, the waitress finally came by with our drinks and no apology. At that point, we decided to enjoy our drinks and the pianist(Roy Young was great) and leave. To her credit, the manager brought over a complimentary shrimp cocktail and apologized for the service. We weren’t the only ones. At least three other tables left without even ordering drinks. I really hope this place gets its act together.

To understand and appreciate Nicky’s, you have to set yourself back to the 1970’s and really get groovy with the charm and campy spirit of Nicky’s Steakhouse! Relax, smoke your pipe, put on your blue eyeshadow, then push through the doors into the past. First, there are FOUR dining options at Nicky’s! Knowing which one you want will help you enjoy it the most. 1. The garden room: Great for families, this is the low key burger and salad bar side of the restaurant. Come here in your grubby camping wear– they don’t mind. You can order off the steakhouse menu if you like. 2. The dining room: Great for special occasions, or a freaky flashback to the finer steakhouses of 1970. Wallpaper, Art, Serving carts. Pewter plates, breadsticks and butter, Table cloths, A view of the river, Fire place. Save this for when you are wearing your best jeans and have brushed your hair. 3. Alice’s Choice!!! The«no children allowed» Lounge: Great for drinking adults. Sometime there is groovy entertainment. Have a grasshopper or other far out mixed drink from the good ol days. The lounge is decorated with Chianti bottles and has a great throwback fireplace, perfect for some martini& rossi and seduction in a turtle neck sweater. Plus, you can order your food here. I LOVELOVELOVE the lounge! Embrace your inner Farah Fawcett Majors and check to see if you still have a leisure suit. Date night in the Lounge! 4. Dining Al Fresco on the bridge and terrace over the river: One of the best on-river dining places I know of anywhere. Ask to be seated outside, and relax with some wine, watch(and throw breadcrumbs to) the trout under the bridge. Enjoy a meal with or without heat lamps– a GREAT way to enjoy! The Fare: Nicky’s is an old school steakhouse with an award winning Angus history. The beef is SUPERIOR! Read the menu– no hormones, antibiotics, grade A. This is rare these days. They know their beef. The prime rib is the best I have found, and I have to have a hit every time I come to Estes, for the last 45 years. That’s a lot! If they have an end cut, I usually have that, but medium rare is great too. The family also enjoys the, believe it or not, snow crab entrée. Baked potatoes, greek sald and greek entrées are great too, and they have fantastic wine. Skip dessert and have a Brandy Alexander– old school! You will enjoy Nicky’s if you know what you are getting into, and embrace the campiness of the past!
