Viewpoint Restaurant and Lounge

This evening a groups of my friends and I went for taco night to celebrate my birthday. It was the worst service I have ever received. There was maybe a total of 10 of us there, me growing up and working in the industry I couldn’t believe how bad it was. Our waitress was straight up rude, nobody got their correct order either. She was treating us like children. We then asked for split checks and she sat down at our table with us to ask us each what we had and she added it up on paper in front of us. We have been to this hidden gem quite a few times and each time we had a great time there. The food is great and always consistent. The staff and the owners has always been super friendly to us making sure we were happy and satisfied. They have open mic on Fridays and live music Saturday nights too! The view of MT Hood is breathtaking and they have the biggest beer garden (summer time) i’ve ever seen! I highly recommend this place!

Went to the Viewpoint tonight had a lot of fun with friends. Played pool had drinks watch football on the big screen TV. Will definitely be back for the Civil War on Friday November 27^th at 1 o’clock for the big screen Civil War blowout.

Not only does this place have snobby stuck up owners but I just found out tonight the cook is also extremely RUDE. I phoned in an order for a burger with half fries half onion rings. When I arrived I was told the cook was angry with me for asking and that I was given onion rings. When I get home there was probably 5 small onion rings in my order. We’ve ordered from this place before and that’s not how this order usually looks. We won’t be back, next time we’ll be ordering from the redland café instead! We like nice people.

This review is for the outdoor area only. This place has the best outdoor space in Portland. The BBQ is awesome and the fresh grilled burgers and dogs are also top notch. The service outside is outstanding. It is only open for the summer so get out there to enjoy.

It was about 8 pm on a Thursday night. We used to frequent this place often and there is one bar tender (Dianna)that we love and try to only go in there at that time. We had a small child with us this time. There looked to be two people in the bar and two staff outside the bar. Lots of dirty tables and maybe only 3 table with people at them. It took her at least ten minutes to even greet us and take a drink order. We waited another 10 minutes after she took our drink order and our drinks never came. We got up and left. We live close. We wish this place would get it together. Its nice to have it so close. But they are going down hill with service and food.

Ok — we are regulars and when you are comfy with some solid consistent favs — summit burger, fish and chips (breakfast — viewpoint special) you don’t venture out. I did this evening and could not believe how good the chicken fried steak was. The white gravy was excellent — clearly homemade, fresh sausage in it! and clearly their home made commitment makes the difference all the way around. The clam chowder is always excellent — seemed even extra good this evening — we always comment how much better it is than Moe’s on the coast which is «known» for their clam chowder.

We are regulars for Sunday breakfast. The new décor is amazing. Mother’s Day brunch was wonderful. All the. Roast beef you could eat. Beautiful dishes and wonderful food. Bananas foster French toast chocolate covered strawberries I could go on and on. If you weren’t. Happy the first. Time go try them again. They won’t disappoint.

My wife and I were out for a Sunday afternoon drive and stopped in check out the Viewpoint. Wow, what a treat. Great home-​style food and wonderful service. We shared a Club sandwich, salad and soup. We will be back to see what the dinner menu is like. They are currently remodeling the main dining area so be prepared to sit in the bar. View of Mt. Hood, large parking lot and outdoor seating during the summer.

We too have had some issues with Viewpoint in the past and they have always made it right by giving us the entire meal for free, Cant beat that for customer service. We went and had breakfast there this last Sunday and they are in the process of remodeling the restuarant but seated us in the lounge. The chicken fried steak was fantastic and the service was great. The portion was enough that we were able to split the steak and just order an extra order of eggs and hash browns. The staff are great and prices are fair. They are working to update and make it a nicer place and that is more than I can say about the Cazadero.

Since this is close to where I live I would have loved to give it a good review, but I can’t. We went this evening for something close to home and heard they had new management. It looks like it is out an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. They should call Chef Ramsey and see if he can help. The décor is completely outdated, but I’m not stuck on that, I realize this is Estacada. When we sat down there was a cake plate with one mangled piece of cake sitting in it that I imagined was the desert plate. Right away I thought that is not a good sign. It was not very clean. We thought of leaving but had already put a drink order in. I decided to try a cup of the clam chowder and we ordered potato skins. The clam chowder tasted like someone dumped an entire box of salt in it. It was way to thick and pasty and the clams were rubbery. The skins were flat and greasy. We didn’t finish either. I did finish the beer and we left to eat somewhere else. I will definitely not be back.
