Favorite bakery for me. And I come from Rancho Bernardo area. Their banana cream pie is fantastic, it is not overly sweet, crunchy pie crust and super banana cream filling. For $ 10 you can’t beat it. Plenty of fresh donuts made at 5:30 am. Oh, give at least two days notice before ordering the BC pie. They have A large display of cookies. Also I have had their lunch sandwiches. If you don’t want to wait 20 minutes for your sandwich at the Wooden Spoon, eat here, same parking lot, much lower prices and freshly baked break on the premises. My favorites are the cherry and apple strudels. Great donuts too and a bargain for the day-old donuts. Very friendly staff.

Been coming here for over 40 years. Best Danish anywhere! Especially love the cheese danish coffee cake. I swear I could eat the entire thing! The deli sandwiches are also nicely made. Great cakes, cookies, brownies, and other pastries. Love this place!

Simple old school bakery. Smells fantastic when you walk in, service is nice, very much a step back in time. Simple pastries and cookies, we bought a few and while they were fresh and fairly priced nothing really stood out as going out of my way to return for. Great hours and plenty of easy parking, always nice to support a local business and they seem to have been around forever.

It’s kind of sad to see WedeKing’s bakery in the state that it’s in. In it’s prime, it was a fun, fully stocked, totally busy place, but times change. You used to be able to get custom made doughnuts(applesauce was one of their best) and the selection of pastries, breads, cakes, pies, and other fun things were awesome, but it looks like lean times have gotten the best of them. As their prices get ever higher, and the selection of bakery items reduces, I shop here less & less often. Wedeking’s Bakery has been around for a long time and has always been family owned, but with competition from commercial bakeries such as Costco, and so many other specialty bakeries around, it seems that this place has seen it’s best days pass. I still recommend giving them a try though.

We stopped to have a sandwich. I ordered the Italian there was one layer of meat. Subway gives you more meat then this place does. And we all know how little meat subway gives you. The ladies were nice enough behind the counter.

I ordered a cake for my daughter’s 7th birthday and the cake looks plain and it doesn’t taste good. The cake is not worth it for almost $ 90.00

This place wasn’t as good as i thought it would be I see it all the time on my way to work and for some reason i thought they would have donuts. They didn’t. They have so much room to fill with donuts but all they have is old looking baked good. Their baklava taste like dirt and i would know i ate dirt when i was in 1st grade on a dare and this baklava took me back to that day. As someone with greek origins i like to think i know my baklava. Just like mexicans know mexican food and asians know asian food you know? This place could be so much more but it looks old and rundown. It might of been THE place in the 70s but in 2015 it falls short.

Ordered a birthday cake for my husband. The ordering process was smooth and the people at the store were very helpful and I felt they had great customer service. The low stars is based on the quality of the cake I received. I ordered a German chocolate cake with vanilla mouse filling with a custom décor. The décor looked blah just the sugary printed off image. The cake was just plain chocolate, defiantly not German chocolate and left a lot to wish for. Kinda lacking that moistness you want in cake. The filling ended up being a raspberry custard… Not what I asked for, but pretty good flavor of you like raspberries. Their other products looked great though, and coffee was good!

VERY good cake donuts, sugar cookies, and danishes! You can never really go wrong trying something new here. They have wonderful breakfast sandwiches and their T.A.B.(turkey, avocado, and bacon sandwich) is to die for. Come in early because what they bake in the morning for the case is all they have for the day! Also, if you are to order a cake, I recommend that you call them and order it special. It doesn’t cost any extra, and you get the freshest possible cake. Very friendly environment and friendly workers. I’m a pretty shy girl and I enjoy myself at Wedeking’s.

It has been years since I walked into Wedekings Bakery. Driving by, it always looks closed even though it’s not. Today, I stopped in to check out their selection. I was hoping to love it since I like the idea of a longtime family-run local bakery. When I walked in, I saw two employees, I was the only customer at the time. There was not as much selection as I hoped for, but I was going to walk out buying something. They have creative looking frosted sugar cookies in holiday and festive themes. Those looked too sugary & sweet for my taste. My nieces and nephews would love them though. I finally decided on a strawberry donut. I had the donut for dessert after dinner tonight and it was so good! The donut was a classic style plain donut, and the frosting on top was homemade with pieces of strawberry. It wasn’t too sweet and I loved it. It tasted very fresh. I now have a favorite donut and will be stopping by again. Yay!

Their cookies are delicious! Especially the Mexican wedding cookies. We’ve always had wonderful and delicious breads and cakes from Wedeking also. Get there early and the selection is awesome!

Pretty good place. I visited with my two-year old and the selection was decent. We each got a sandwich: for me, the Ruben(I’d give it a 7⁄10), and my toddler had a grilled cheese. We were there awhile because it took time for the sandwiches to be made(I like that they took their time to make it right) and it takes forever for a toddler to eat. Naturally, my little guy had to use the restroom. I asked where it was and got a «we don’t normally let people use the bathroom.» I said, «You don’t let customers use your bathroom? I can have my toddler use the porta-potty in the car I guess.» The woman explained that they get a lot of people off the street wanting to use the restroom. I get that, but come on! It’s a restaurant selling food and drinks. People are going to need a bathroom. She DID end up letting us use it, which is against their policy, so I appreciate that… But fyi, it was pretty dirty in there and the floors in the entire back area were really gross. So the food: pretty good. The space itself? Yuck.

Bakery items were good. Service was friendly. I think that some of the bakery items were overpriced. Not a fan of the breakfast sandwiches.

I have been coming here since I was a child, and I have always loved this bakery. My family always buys the Lord Baltimore cakes for our birthdays, and it became a sort of family tradition for a while. I recently came back with my friend, and we came two minutes before closing. The ladies behind the counter were friendly, and they answered any questions we had. I ended up buying a frosted whale cookie, and my friend and I loved it.

I’ve been going to this place for quite some time but never felt the need to write a review until today. It’s a bakery and they have a deli. I typically have a sandwich and occasionally will get something from the bakery. I’ve never had anything made special from the bakery but only what is on display and at best it’s average. For the most part it usually tastes as if it’s old and they minimize the filling or topping. Today I had a cinnamon roll and again, the roll itself had the taste of having been baked the day before. Overall, bakery goods are fair. Today I also had a sandwich. This is definitely not my preferred place to go for a sandwich but I can practically walk here from my office so today being very busy, I just wanted something quick. The bread on their sandwiches is similar to their baked goods with a lack of «fresh that day» taste but it’s okay. Their menu is online and you can order ahead of time. I ordered the Club Sandwich. Their version comes with Turkey, Ham and Bacon, more of the traditional type of club sandwich. However, I am not a fan of ham so I asked them to hold the ham. They offered to double the turkey meat which was fine with me. I took it back to my office to eat and it was a regular sandwich stacked with turkey meat. It looked good, but this is hardly a traditional club sandwich that is a triple decker sandwich but into fours. But I’m hungry so I’ll eat it. However, after my second bite I notice something wrong… no bacon! I looked and looked and sure enough… no bacon. Somewhat aggravated because I have such little time for lunch and I’m very hungry, I took the sandwich back. When I told them there was no bacon, they replied, «you said no ham». Yes, that is correct… I said no ham but never said no bacon! Think about it… if I wanted a club sandwich but with no ham AND no bacon, I might as well order a turkey sandwich!!! Here’s a tip… if you think that’s what I want, how about asking me before just assuming since I ordered no ham that I also want no bacon; again, it’s beyond understanding why I would even order a club sandwich if all I wanted was a turkey sandwich. Furthermore, while it is traditional to have a club sandwich with turkey and ham, most places in California serve a club with turkey and bacon only, NO ham. So, you might want to think about where you are located and if all else fails, how about just making the sandwich the way the customer ordered. I ordered NOHAM and said nothing about bacon. They did offer to make another sandwich but at that point it was clear they couldn’t care less by their attitude and if they don’t care enough to make a simple sandwich correct and then act like it’s you’re fault when you bring it back, I don’t want that food. Too many other options in the local area. FYI, if you are looking for a GREAT deli sandwich place in the Escondido area, try Eric’s Sandwich Shop. It’s only 2 miles from Wedekings and it’s easy to see the difference. When I’m at Wedekings there might be 1 or 2 people there. Eric’s is full from the time they open until they close. Eric’s uses fresh local breads and meats and I’ve never had a problem with an order at Eric’s. Or try O’Brien’s bakery which also serves sandwiches. Again, about 2 miles and they bake fresh everyday and you can tell their breads are fresh. As I said, I’ve been going to Wedeking’s literally for years, but simply because they are close. With all the other close choices, I can’t see going back to Wedekings for anything given the treatment and the lack of care they put into their food/service.

Bought a birthday cake yesterday from the showcase. They don’t tell you the cakes are not fresh. The cake was freezer burnt in the middle. It was bad. Will never go back.

OK, this is Southern California and the«Deli» has just never caught on here. To make matters worse Wedeking’s is a not even a deli, it’s a bakery. SOHOWTHEHECK did they end up making one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten? If you find yourself in North County head on over there and order The New Yorker, a combination of perfectly sliced, cooked to perfection roast-beef and pastrami with melted cheddar cheese. Ask for it on rye with a splash of mustard, go for the combo which adds your(limited) choice of chips and a soda(Shasta, didn’t even know you could still buy Shasta) for an extra buck. My only observation(not complaint) is that it takes about 5 minutes longer than you feel it should for the sandwich to show up. Oh, and where is the pickle spear, this sandwich needs to be accompanied with an old-word style dill pickle. Their cakes are fantastic and reasonably priced, you are not going to find this nice a cake anywhere near this price elsewhere in the San Diego area. The cakes are beautiful and sophisticated enough to serve at almost any function. They are NOT crazy, excessive concoctions that nobody will actually eat. Brownies are great, danish could be a little lighter. Overall this is a wonderful bakery.
