The Work Bench

I like small businesses and want to support them. Location is good, vibe is good, the artistry is the only thing that keeps me from giving the owner a five-​star review. You might have to bring some of the artistry and ideas with you, but the rest of the process is pretty right on. Prices are in line with other stores, owner seems to enjoy life and all that it brings.

Over a week ago, I took a picture frame to be fixed at this place. I was promise it will be ready in a week by Thursday. So I called on Friday morning and was told by Helen that she just finish it and that I will take another day to dry up that she has 3 jobs and that is why she has to take longer to fix it, as far as I concern when you give a client a time when the work will be done, you need to deliver on your promise, everything else is an excuse.
So I went in today Monday, just in case, and it was ready! But not as expect it, Helen explain to me that the frame was plastic and that it was very difficult to fix it, ok so far. As I was looking at the frame she became mad and her attitude was getting real bad, she asked me if I want it to be perfect, I said that nothing is perfect but that I was expecting a little bit better work, before I finish talking she interrupted me and told me to take it that she wasn’t going to charge me, she was mad and rude. I took my frame and left.
My main complain here is not her work, which I’m not satisfy with, but her horrible attitude, Helen needs to take customer service lessons, because her’s are horrible. She is full of excuses, just own your mistakes period.
I have read the other comments and honestly, they have to be her friends or relatives because what I experience is far from what this people describe.
If you need frame work done, DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!

Helen at the Work Bench is awesome! She was patient with us while we were deciding on what color mat we wanted and she suggested a better way to mat our painting by adding a shadow box effect. She did a phenomenal job framing it. It is even better than we imagined it would be. :)

Helen at The Work Bench has a great eye for selecting just the right materials/​methods to present artists’ work in the best possible manner. In addition, she’s a delight to work with, incredibly patient and willing to go the extra step. Her skillful craftsmanship is evident in each piece that she creates. For personalized, top-​quality framing and matting (as well as restoration if needed), The Work Bench can’t be beat.

Helen has framed many of my photographs and paintings over the past 10 years, and has always been professional and artistic with each piece. She has a master’s degree in art, and I trust her to make great recommendations for mattes and frames that complement my art.
This is not some big-​box cheap store with teenagers shoving pictures into pre-​made frames; if you’ve got art you care about, then I recommend Helen’s little shop.

Helen salvaged my ripped Poster and framed it beautifully. Now it looks brand new :)
