I think the portion sizes just keep getting bigger and bigger. No complaints with that! I’m constantly surprised with the presentations and the fresh combination of flavors and not to mention how much fish their is in their sashimi salad. There’s more fish than lettuce! Definitely ask for the dressing on the side though.

The food is great! Portions, quality, taste. But service looses 1 star. Friendliness is next to godliness! The food is great! Portions, quality, taste. But service looses 1 star. Reidun, the sushi chef, has great customer service serving fresh ingredients that delighted my palette. I returned the following week, Reidun remembered my name and treated me to the same wonderful experience. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for great sushi.

Chuck(nickname) is the best! My family and I have been coming here for years. Four years ago, my sister and I moved to Northern California and always make it a point to pay Chuck a visit when we come back to Escondido. I can honestly say that so far I have not found sushi that compares to his sushi both in Northern and Southern Cali. Fresh, innovative, beautiful and delicious. Chuck is an artist. I recommend: I love Ono Ladies Night Chuck’s red dragon(it’s important he makes it) Any special roll you ask him to make you!

Pretty good place. Its a little pricey but it works. Their lunch specials are good. Teryaki bowls. Bento boxes. Never had an issue here. I come here with my wife every now and then. The owner is really nice and helpful. Fast service whenever we go. We never wait more then 5bminutes after ordering and out sushi rolls start coming out. Two toes up!

For starters we got edamame with garlic which has a rich brown sauce and just enough garlic. Edamame was tender and yummy. The ladies in our group got a chicken bowl and a bento box, I got the popcorn lobster. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I keep looking at pics of things other people ordered and reading the reviews and I’m not sure I ate in the same place. My food did not rate five or even 4 stars, but could be that I’m picky… or should have gotten something else. I have had better popcorn lobster elsewhere, but they did score some points with me. Pros: Popcorn lobster at $ 13.95 is a huge portion of rolls, topped with lots of tempura fried lobster bits and tasty sauce drizzled on top. So much food I had to leave four of the rolls. Taste was pretty good but not amazing. Again, bang for buck portion-wise but in hindsight I would have been better off with a smaller order of different sushi with tuna or salmon. My girls were able to take home a bunch of food for later, which is good. Cons: Restaurant was uncomfortably hot when we arrived. AC didn’t kick in until right before we left. Popcorn lobster was quite greasy. Rice in the rolls did not look fresh and white but light gray in color. Day old rice? Overall I’d give this place 3 stars. It was a hang with family in Escondido. I have heard rumors of excellent sushi places in Oceanside and San Marcos, so that’s where I will hunt next for great sushi. Or maybe I just should’ve ordered something else…

Super fresh fish! A little pricey, but probably one of the better sushi places we’ve been to. We were seated immediately at the sushi bar on a Friday evening. The servers were prompt and quite generous; the sushi chef who prepared our food was very friendly and made conversation during our meal. We ordered some nigiri, the live ama ebi, and a firecracker roll. They even provided edamame and a plate of deep fried salmon ball on the house. Though the restaurant is small and the food is pricey, what they lack in space they make up for in quality and service. Food — 5 stars Service — 5 stars

Superb meal. Great chef, attentive service. We started with the salmon rolls, calamari and a Soju Cocktail. All tasty, but I would put the calamari at the top. My partner and I were running on empty so we ordered 4 rolls. Spicy Tuna, my standard for any sushi restaurant. 5 stars. Salmon roll. Tasty and well presented. Chicago roll. Partner chosen and enjoyed by us both. Dragon roll. Always a great choice. Finished it all with an order of Unagi. Tasty, but a bit tough. I would recommend this sushiya for the authentic taste and Japanese management.

We had a roll(Firecracker?), Flying Fish roe and a bluefin sashimi plate. While already not big fan of rice rolls, I thought their rolls were just ok. However, the sashimi was excellent. I flying fish eggs were a first for me and were a crunchy/nutty kind of flavor. Nothing off putting. Will definitely return for another try.

My gfs and I were in here for a quick bite. We just got the soft shell crab hand roll(spider) and the bakes scallops with miso soup. I love soft shell crab and they really did it right here. Not too much rice or sauce in the hand roll, just a lot of meat, just what I like. :) The scallops were really tasty too. Unfortunately we didn’t get to eat much but will try it again when I’m in the neighborhood!

Sushi Nori is a small little sushi restaurant located in Escondido near Major Market. I could potentially come back here if I am in the area however wouldn’t go out of my way. The reason why is because of the long wait I encountered. I want to say it took about 45 minutes for the food to come out which was maybe due to them being backed up or them doing things out of order?! There were 2 orders in my group(A Hawaiian Poki Salad and Escondido Roll). Not sure how/why it took forever, but whatever the case is. the restaurant redeemed themselves from the super duper long wait with tasty food and nice presentation. The only other weird thing was how the sushi chef placed our food in to go plastic containers. when we were seated at the bar to dine inside. It was strange and not accurate. but we said it was fine so they didn’t have to switch out the containers. –small, cozy sushi restaurant –plenty of sushi options –tasty ESCONDIDOROLL!!! It is a «Philadelphia Roll Deep Fried». yummy! –Salmon Balls and Ediname were complimentary not sure if that is standard, but I think it was a time filler for the long wait –Polite worker/owner –Friendly sushi chefs

So glad that Brandon Chang is the new sushi chef here. I’ll follow him to any sushi place he goes to. Had Hamachi Sashimi, The Red Catepillar and the Chicago Boss. All were fabulous! Make sure you get it with fresh wasabi. Ankimo is an acquired taste, but I love it.

Whenever I’m craving sushi and in Escondido, this place is on my list of sushi spots to hit up. It’s a little hole in the wall sushi spot. The place is pretty small so it can get busy at certain times. The last time my wife and I went here, the service wasn’t as good as it was before. But it was because there was only one sushi chef working and one server with the owner there. The place was packed so I kinda figured that the service was going to be slow. Good thing we’ve been there before so we knew we liked the food. If it was my first time here, it might be different. We ended up ordering the hawaiian poki, miso soup, red dragon crunch roll and the I love ono roll. The sushi was delicious. We’ve been here a few times and all the rolls we’ve tried were good and never was disappointed. The sushi chef’s are really nice here and will drink with you on occasions! This place is definitely one of my favorite sushi spots in Escondido and will come back again soon.

Cute little place in the Major Market shopping center. The servers were very attentive since there was not a lot of patrons at the time. The soft shell crab handroll was big and had a whole soft shell crab in it. Rolls were presented beautifully and the some combinations are not your standard rolls at other sushi places so it gives your sushi tongue something different and refreshing. A favorite is the I Love Ono roll. Because I do, I love Ono…
