Servers were very nice, place was clean. But seriously expensive for certain items. And sorry your carnitas are not good … And carnitas make or break a restaurant. Need to improve somewhere

I eat here all the time. They have good prices and the food is great. It’s ready fast, too! Very clean in the restaurant, and the service is friendly.

If you DON’T like something you’ll be told you HAVETOPAY for it anyway! I went there with a group of 10 on a Friday night. Service was SLOW but food was decent. I ordered a margarita, it was DISGUSTING. I told the server to take it back. We all continue to order a lot of beer and appetizers. But they DIDNOT take the margarita off my bill. Server said it has to be paid for even though we it’s sent back. I spoke to the manager, she had the most terrible attitude. Said we STILL have to pay for anything we DON’T consume!(I should mention that I was being very polite) I explained to her we brought in 10 people and ordered a lot of food and drinks and she’ll be losing ALL these customers and a ALL their FRIENDS and FAMILY as customers in the future for the sake of not taking off 1 small item from the bill. Then SHRUGEDHERSHOULDERS she said«oh well». I was a restaurant manager for 3 years and I’ve never seen someone treat a customer like this. My server Griselda offer offered to give me back the price of the margarita out of her own pocket. That was extremely nice of her but I said no she should not have to do that.

This place was a pleasant surprise. The menu has such a variety and I found the flavors to be distinct and delicious. Sometimes with so many Mexican places, you get some who go autopilot on the meat. Seriously tastes like they boiled and microwaved pieces of beef or pork. No flavor. I got a tostada with carne asada and nopales(cactus) and it was insanely tasty. Even the tortilla chips were nicely flavored. Great staff. Place wasn’t busy at all when we went. Good for large groups. My coworker got grilled fish tacos. He said they were good. Although he said one he got in San ysidro was a little better. I would definitely come again if I’m in the area and recommend you to do the same!

Overall, average. We got a carne Asada torta, and beef flautas, both were insanely average. The French fries were bland, the torta was sub-par in comparison to many other places we have been, and the flautas mostly just tasted like the shredded cheese they put on top, which is what I was trying to get away from considering the fact that rolled tacos seem to have the same issue, which is why I wanted flautas in the first place. Also a little bit more expensive than your average hole in the wall taco shop, because all of their prices reflect the fact that they are a sit down restaurant. The service was okay, the staff was friendly but my order took a good chunk of time to come out(which is fine because I know they aren’t fast food but, it was only me and about three other people in the whole restaurant). The ambiance was, well, average. They have good reviews otherwise so maybe I just picked a bad day to try, but from my experience today, I’m not so sure I’ll be heading back any time soon.

Great food overall, excellent customer service. Nothing negative to say really. I just don’t give 5 stars cause no one’s perfect, but truly great food. Chili Verde, shrimp cocktails, their refried beans are delicious.

Quiet setting(no blaring mariachi), good service, food you can taste… Don’t mistake hole in the wall taco shop grease infused burritos for Mexican food. Free chips and delicious salsa while you wait.

The food is awesome! Had shredded beef taco & cheese enchilada combo plate. Came with rice, beans & a small salad. Great prices. I love Mexican food & I’ve eaten at hundreds of Restaurants. This is definitely tied for number one! I will be coming back!!!

I love Mexican food, so my standards are pretty high when it comes to my shrimp enchiladas, but this place killed it. They had the best everything! Even their salsa bar was fresh, clean, and thd carrots were perfectly spiced and NOT mushy! Drinks are super yummy too. They give you the option of «no alcohol» in their margaritas, which is pretty cool for the non-drinkers out there!!! Thats definitely a plus in my eyes! #lovedit

Good food and good service. Stated somewhere close to this restaurant and seen it had positive reviews and I really enjoyed it. Had the asada fajitas and they were almost more than I could handle… Almost!

My god, the traditional gravy sauce on the enchiladas! So. Very. Delicious. This place looks unassuming with its picture menu and location tucked in next to a Quality Inn, but is well worth a visit. I don’t know what else the greater San Diego area has to offer… but this is a great experience to start with!

Food was great. Easy to find. It was pretty dead so we got our food really quickly. My husband loves mexican food and was very pleased with his entire meal. I was too. They actually had tasty vegetarian options as well as seafood and meat options(a rarity, trust me). Their menu was pretty large and cluttered, but we figured out what we wanted pretty quickly. All in all, we had a great meal and would go back again.

The absolute worst California Burrito in town. The reviews looked so promising. An unexplored treasure trove of traditional(Escondido regional) dishes and tacos. All that was missing was a live Ranchera band and a Quinceanera in the their banquet room. Alas, foiled again by questionable positive reviews. The Story — Rancho Las Palmas is Located in Escondido’s seamy district with multiple cheap motels and even cheaper ladies of the evening. Nothing too fancy on the inside, pottery on the walls, beer posters, and ESPN Deportes playing on a big screen TV. We ordered a few diverse menu items and I got a bottle of Mexican Coke. All was good. The food came out and looked delicious. I honestly thought a scored a big Unilocal coup with this place. I made sure I took a few pictures then I ripped into the burrito with my fork to taste it. This California burrito was one of the worst I’ve ever had. Here’s why. Perhaps I made a mistake ordering my burrito«wet» style. Because at Las Palmas«wet» means inside and out! There was sooo much American style guac and Mexican crème in the burrito it could have posed as a liquefied 7-layer dip. The asada(there was a large portion of it) was so salty and tough that we couldn’t really eat it. Clearly this was old meat and salted to last longer. Keep in mind that Las Palmas isn’t the type of place where you send back your food… I had to gracefully rearrange the burrito to make it look like we had eaten most of it..(I’m sure you’ve been there /done that before). On the positive, the traditional(plates) like enchiladas with rice and beans were a hit with the kids. Summation, stay away from their burritos and go for standard plates.

Really good food. We ordered the flautas, street tacos, quesadilla and some burritos. Potions were large and prices were good. Brother wasn’t big on the fajitas, but everybody else likes there food.

Although staff was nice. Omg…the wait time sucked on my order to go. I waited close to 45 mins. The food was good though but not worth the wait.

Solid Mexican food, ranging from rancheros huevos to taco con lengua to seafood soups. Chips here are decent, and the guac is not bad! Salsas and hot sauces are ok, and there is one or two that stood out to me that was above average. Friendly service, and they even serve a few Mexican beers on tap!!! If your in the area, I recommend you go here for Mexican food.

Everything I said in my last review remains true. I feel the need to update because I have decided that Ranchos Las Palmas, while maybe not fancy, is arguably the best Mexican restaurant in Escondido. That is saying a lot since we have about 2 million Mexican restaurants! The food, service and prices are outstanding. This visit the husband had carne asada fajitas and I had chicken flautas. Both were DELICIOUS! The flavors of the meat are developed nicely and all of the food comes with great accompaniments. Shredded cheese tops the dishes we’ve had, as does sour cream, guacamole, salad, etc… Everything is fresh and tasty. Same server as our last visit gave excellent and friendly service and the food arrives quickly Seriously, you need to go here and now the prices are even better because if you check in on Unilocal, you get 20% off your bill! Eat here. UPDATEUPDATEUPDATE!!! Went on a Friday night in November and they have Karaōke!!! HOORAY! Okay, it’s Karaōke in Spanish, but so what! It’s Karaōke! YEA!
