Love this place so much better than Subway. I call in my order they have it ready when I get there can’t beat that! The serving sizes are bigger and taster than other places ! I would definitely recommend you guys check this place out!

They wanted to charge $ 0.75 to have the sandwich toasted. Might as well charge me for mayo and mustard. Perhaps they should have raised all sandwichs by 10 cents to absorb the cost.

The lady that made my sandwich was so sweet. She was busy by herself but still took the time to tell all of us she’d be right with us. Another girl came out and looked shocked that it was busy. I felt bad because she wasn’t helping her co worker. It’s 1pm girl, get it together, it’s lunch time. The sandwiches are ok. I’ve had better, but it does the job.

Impressed today. It seems the manager/owner is frequently present and you can tell he appreciates every customer that walks through the door. The employee working also seemed to be very happy which means this is a good place to work.

I wish I could give 10 stars because Port of Subs has just changed the sandwich game. I ordered the Classic Sub #1 and just thinking about it makes my mouth water. It was so fresh and so good I literally inhaled my sandwich. So yeah, won’t be going to Subway anymore.

We have been coming here for years and failed to leave a review! We have never been disappointed. It is always fresh and delicious. Good size sandwiches for the price and worth paying for the quality. Friendly owner and involved. They also now offer call ahead orders!

Jalisa is a nightmare. She refused to serve me after I commented on the veggies not looking too fresh(check out the photos I posted). «Well if you don’t like them, you can go somewhere else.» So I did! Try Eric’s deli down the street. Best family owned deli around. Extremely welcoming environment. Sadly, Port of Subs made me miss Subway:) Pretty much anything in Escondido is better than this place. Jalisa, maybe next time you should offer a solution such as a hot sandwich that doesn’t need veggies as a substitute to the sub. It’s customer service 101. Your behavior was embarrassing and lost this franchise location a lot of local business.

Stopped here for the first time. since I just moved into the neighborhood I was looking for a quick sandwich to grab and go. I ordered the seasonal harvest sandwich and it was awesome! The young lady(sorry I for get her name) working was awesome, extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very clean. Granted it seemed pretty dead, the sandwich was spot on, and tasted even better then I expected! I will be sure to be a returning customer. Keep up the great work!!!

I love these sandwiches because everything is always fresh. The size«small» sandwich is comparable in size to Subway’s 6″ because the bread is wider. Service at lunch time can get a little slow, but that’s because everyone who works nearby comes here and they get busy. It’s well worth the wait. Linda has been here as long as I remember, and now there is a new girl Julisa. Both of these ladies have always provided me with OUTSTANDING customer service. Always smiling, always pleasant. I eat here way more than I should.

I went here today for the first time and was very disappointed. The girl who was working named Fabiola was very rude and gave me attitude the whole time I was ordering. The avocado she tried to put on my sandwich was rotten and she still tried to put it on my sandwich, when I told her I didn’t want that avocado she got upset and did not offer to give me a new avocado. Veggies were all not fresh looking and I threw half my sandwich away because it tasted horrible. Old tomato that was over ripe and onion was severely dried out. Gross. Will not be returning.

As far as a good quality fresh cut meat and cheese sandwich, this is the place! it is what subway«was» 15+years ago… i have been there at least 20+ times and never had a sandwich that i could finish or one that ever bad in any way! i was there yesterday in the rush of things and there was a line but was very happy after my wait to order. it was well worth the wait as i had a long day at work too. :)

For sandwiches this place is good. I usually order the turkey roast beef with provolone on sour dough. Medium size is always enough food for me. Think a step or two up from Subway. –I prefer Schlotzkeys over this place though. But this place is still good!

I used to get food from here while my dad built our house for several years. It was the construction day meal. Being so used to Subway, it took me a little while to get used to it, but I now like it more than Subway. There are a few types of bread, baked fresh each day, but what REALLY sets this place apart is that they slice the meat right in front of you, so you KNOW its fresh, instead of being stored in a food box in a fridge. The look of the place is pretty minimal, but they started construction to give it a new look recently, so I’m looking forward to seeing it finished. Whenever the manager comes in, he’s super friendly to customers AND the staff, telling them good job when the customer walks away with a smile. They have a rewards stamp card, leading to a free sandwich every 12 subs or so, but on Sundays and Tuesdays, you get double the stamps. They also offer catering and a two-foot sandwich(one long piece of bread)! In short: it’s a fresh sandwich shop that feels like a mom and pop shop to me, even though they are apparently a chain. Also, few places still offer cherry coke these days.

Let me tell you I grew up in Las Vegas where there was a port of subs every 2 miles. I crave this stuff when I get a bit homesick and drive up from downtown SD. There is just something about that mustard mayo spread that makes a girl swoon. I’m a freak and even get extra in a soup bowl for some dipping pleasure. The food gets five stars but the service at this location is slower then the five north at rush hour.

I have been to Port of Subs 3 times over the past year or two. I will say they are consistent, as in, I know exactly what to expect. Their service won’t blow you away but they aren’t bad, just average. The food also will not blow you away, and is also not bad. The prices are average. Overall they are consistently average. So if you want a very average lunch time experience, this is place for you. If you are looking for great sandwiches or great service, perhaps you should try somewhere else.

It was lunchtime in Escondido and I wasn’t sure where to go so I flipped open my Entertainment book and found a BOGO for a small sub, chips and drink. I figured I’d give this place a try and it ended up being quite delicious. I read some reviews that complained about the quality of the bread but it was soft and tasty. I ordered the turkey sub and swapped the provolone for swiss. While there may not be as many topping choices as Subway, everything that I wanted was available. Lettuce, tomato, black olives, spicy mustard, oil, vinegar. Everything was fresh and I actually thought the quality was better than at Subway.

Sour dough bread was not fresh. Bread was so hard the worker cut through the top half but did not apply enough pressure to get through h second half. Tuna was mediocre. Lettuce was yellow. Interior is outdated. Won’t come back. Should have went to jersey mikes. Way… better.

Summary: Great sandwich, great price. I’ve been coming here since I was a little kid. Before I had any sense of direction, this was always«That one sandwich place that’s not Subway». There is a large selection of cold subs(and hot ones too!), with all the typical sides(chips, cookies, and others). What I love about this place is that they aren’t shy with the meat quantity on the subs, and the sandwiches are wider than average. This means your small 5″ sub could be enough to satisfy you! I’d love to get catered subs from this place sometime, the ingredients are super fresh :)

it was«a-ok.» I like freshly baked bread, and this place doesn’t serve it. That’s fine… The deli meats are made to order — they slice it in front of you. I asked them to toast my sandwich, and they were very accommodating. Overall, it was an average sandwich and an average experience.

Sub sunk by the quality and taste of the bread. The golden sandwich rule is always start with great fresh tasting bread. Unfortunately I found the white roll here to be very bland and cheap tasting. Came here on a Saturday after reading Sara Y’s review. It’s much like Submarina in its sub construction. They slice the meat for your sandwich and give you a huge grip full of veg and toppings. The concept works for Submarina, but what about Port of Subs? Ordered a large to split with the family. This thing was a beast and bit unruly when trying to stuff it in my mouth. Fresh slicing always provides the best flavor for sub meat in my opinion. The toppings, while not the best, were generously applied. Based on Sara’s recommendation, we ordered the Smoked cheddar but made the mistake of not including bacon. You have to have to get the bacon to compliment the smokiness of the cheese. Taste — The bread didn’t do it for me. These guys need a new vendor. The veg wasn’t the best and only made the bread issue stand out more. If I had a choice of Submarina, Quiznos, Subway, or Port of Subs I’d choose POS last. In summation, the price is very very reasonable and you get a lot of sub. It’s not good enough as far as taste to bring me back. New, better tasting bread and port of Subs could be a real contender. — Huge sandwich — Sliced for you as you order — Value on par with Subway — Can be slow when there is a crowd(the downfall when you slice meat for each sandwich)
