I enjoyed my time here for a friend’s wedding. But I wouldn’t recommend it for others. Here is my opinion; The good: –friendly staff –lots of different spaces to rent –a solid meal –presentable, professional facilities –affordable(I assume) –lots of parking The bad: –cookie-cutter receptions –sharing your ‘special day’ with hundreds of other people in the rooms next to you –location is in the middle of nowhere The ugly: –the rooms are sectioned off by removable walls… so the noise from the next room drifts in. We listened to the best man/maid of honor speeches while Lil Jon blared in from the room next-door –every time you go outside to use the restroom, you have to wade through dozens of guests from other parties… contact with other receptions in unavoidable –because you’re in the middle of nowhere, your guests will have to take a very expensive cab/Über back home. Also, if they drove to the reception hall from the church/synagogue/wherever the ceremony was(which is likely), they will leave their car here… so they’ll have to drive BACK out to the middle of nowhere the next day. –I’ve mentioned it before, but the other receptions can be a nuisance in other ways. For example, the night we were here, a woman at another reception had too much to drink and had to be lifted and carried through the communal hall out to the front. The man carrying her had lost his shirt and was only wearing an undershirt. Overall: –I understand why you might opt to book this reception hall. It seems like it would be a nice but affordable option. And I don’t have serious complaints from my night here. I’ve only seen the guest’s viewpoint, not the client’s. And I don’t want to be overly-negative. We all had a great time. The food was good and the staff was wonderful. I just think there are some logistic issues you should be aware of if you decide to book your reception here.

I attended a luncheon event with a friend at Receptions Erlanger a few weeks ago. My friend had a special dietary request, separate from the luncheon buffet offered to the group, which the staff took care of right away. Receptions is good for a corporate evening party or a wedding reception, as I’ve attended a few events at another one of their locations, but I felt lighting was too dark for a luncheon meeting.

Receptions is a heavily used facility. It is adequate but could use some serious updating of PA systems, projectors and screens. They staff is well adverse in setting up for various types of events and can give you a run down of room set up… Catering is what you would expect.

Sorry Receptions, I liked visiting you but seriously, how do you run out of space in your parking lot. You’re a banquet and conference center? Parking is a big part of what you do. Now, granted, I was there for a big event — the best of NKY party, and I am very, very glad you have free parking compared to a conference center like Duke, but that’s why people go to places outside of downtown — to get the full amenities. I got to the event about 40 minutes after doors had opened and was told to go park in the next door LazerKraze parking lot. Oooook. I had to park and walk all the way around to get to the door. Once I was in though, it was a very nice conference center. The space was giant, the tables were well-set up and covered with beautiful tablecloths, and the staff behind the bar friendly and quick. The atmosphere didn’t blow me away(basically it was just a giant room), but for an event like this, it did the job for sure. But seriously, parking. Not cool.

My first visit to Receptions was for a corporate Christmas party. The room had warm, inviting décor and holiday trimmings. The bar service was affordable and our dinner was buffet style: roast, chicken Parmesan, mashed potatoes, pasta, dinner rolls and salad. Everything was tasty, but the ranch dressing for the salad was amazing! Our group polished off a punch bowl-sized vat of dressing and the servers had to bring out a replacement bowl. Oh, and I think there was some cheesecake for dessert. My second visit was for a formal business presentation, much larger than the Christmas party. About 200 guests received their own plate for both appetizer and entrée. I was sitting in the back, watching the servers. These folks are some speedy people! They swiftly had everyone fed and in time without disturbing the speakers. Our waitress was especially fantastic. My colleague needed a vegetarian meal, so the server went back to the chef and had him prepare a new dish: a huge Portobello mushroom sauteed in red wine with angel hair pasta. Every bite was devoured; I was envious of his dish! Both of my experiences at Receptions have been wonderful. The venue is corporately beautiful, the staff is professional, organized, and go the extra mile, and of course the food is delicious! I hope to attend another function here soon!

I spent the majority of my 3 months of job training in the many conference rooms at Receptions in Erlanger. The rooms are standard — traditional, strange printed carpet and upholstery, large, well-lit, and well-ventilated. The provided lunch we had every day was actually spectacular; some of the best I’ve had at corporate trainings at similar halls elsewhere. Would I want to have a wedding at Receptions? Definitely not. Though we saw a few weddings being set up for after our training sessions, the thought of having a wedding reception ear-shot away from an airport, next-door to a lazer tag arena, and less than a quarter mile away from a number of manufacturing facilities(John Deere, for one), distribution centers(Frito Lay), and business parks(PepsiCo, Toyota, Wild Flavors, etc.) is so incredibly unappealing that it borderlines last-resort on my girlie dream-wedding radar. But, for a corporate event, Receptions is as good as it gets.

Northern Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management meets here monthly. It’s perfect for our group. There are large rooms with round tables. They have projection screens and audio equipment. The meal was above average. They have very clean restrooms. If you need a large meeting space with good food — this is the place. They book up quick though — so you will want to reserve as soon as you know the dates you need.
