This is, more or less, a perfect example of a rails-to-trails success. This is a pair of trails, that form the shape of a Y, lying on its side, that run from Wherle in Clarence(and Transit for the other branch) all the way to the town of Akron. It’s straight and flat as a pancake, so on one level, it’s kind of boring. I would love it if the crossings were signal controlled, because there’s at least one crossing I’ve run across that is a little bit annoying to get past during commute hour. It also would be awesome if these paths were connected to the region in general, but as a nice and easy post-work riding spot, this is hard to beat. It’s actually pretty scenic as well, with trees and rolling farmlands. I’ve seen quite a bit of wildlife during my rides, including a lot of chipmunks, a few deer, and a lot of songbirds.

A Pike Bath is where people who have been driving for hours on the endless(and endlessly overpriced) Pennsylvania Turnpike… or indeed the Ohio-Indiana Turnpike… or indeed the Florida Turnpike… can stop and shower and clean themselves. However we’re not talking about a Pike Bath here. It’s a Bike Path. And it’s a really magnificent one. I am totally in love with the Clarence Bike Paths. Tragically I only discovered them recently, but they are a godsend, and I wish every little village and town and district could have such a wonderful recreation space. These bike paths criss-cross the entire town, as well as the neighboring towns of Akron-Newstead. They are truly remarkable… wide and flat and clean and beautiful, full of nature and fun things to see, lots of cute people jogging and families out having fun, Olympic-style biking pros along with amateurs and recreational cyclists… Some days you can go for 5 miles without seeing another soul(so it might be a good idea to take someone with you), and other days you can’t go 50 feet without passing 10 different people. When I say they criss-cross the town, you need to look at the maps. They are all over the place. And if you«get on your bike», so to speak, you can use them to go from suburb to village to countryside in just a few minutes. I adore them! Well done to these towns for having such a wonderful Bike Path system, and I want to put it on record how much I appreciate them and love them! The UK prides itself on its bike paths and its recreational facilities, but it doesn’t have anything as elaborate or brilliant as these massive and impressive bike paths! Also congratulations to Atletico Madrid, who managed to win the La Liga Futbol Championship against all odds, by avoiding defeat in Barcelona on the final day, and the match finished just as I was writing this review. So well done to them! This review is dedicated to them and to the Town of Clarence for this amazing bike path!
