Pretty disappointed. Just visited Oct 21, 2013, did a quick stop to get some yummy FRESH apples. Spent $ 30 and 2 bags of apples. After getting home, discovered that the bigger bag of Fuji apples were soft and old, no flavor at all. No one want to eat them. Definitely not the firm crisp apple i am am used to buying. I have spent a 10th of cost at the grocery and got a way better apple. Not sure what happened, but I will NOT go back again. Sad i have to trash a $ 17 bag of apples. I will say the smaller bag of cooking apples were delicious.

***We specifically chose Erie Orchards over another closer to home after calling to hear that they had Honeycrisp apples to pick, our favorite! When we arrived, honeycrisp was on the list of varieties and there was a sign in the orchard itself pointing to a row of trees indicating that they were indeed honeycrisps(most of which had apples growing that did not resemble honeycrisps.) We filled up our bags and when we returned to the store, «honeycrisp» had been erased from the list of varieties, confirming that what we picked from were not honeycrisp trees. This was disappointing, but did not ruin our trip. Overall, we had a great visit in early September. There were plenty of apples(as well as peaches and plums) to pick and the staff was friendly and helpful. The pumpkins were coming in and got us excited for Autumn! I grabbed a donut on the way out and it hit the spot.

I love the family atmosphere at Erie Orchards. There are activities each weekend for the family to come out and enjoy together. We all really enjoy the cider and donuts and we love seeing Santa Clause out there making Nana’s kettle corn. The kids love to ride the ponies and choose their own pumpkins. The folks are all so friendly and nice… it’s an all around great atmosphere. So sad the season is over.

Pick some apples. Drink the cider. Pet a goat. Play in hay mounds. Put that baby on a mini-horse. Get lost in the corn maze. Ride a hay wagon. Bring home a t-shirt. In the fall season, this is the place to be! It’s what you think of when you picture an orchard. I like the fried apple and pumpkin donuts. They also have delicious apple and pumpkin butter. even better than Trader Joe’s.

We had a bad experience at the Erie Orchard! We were in u-pick area looking at the pumpkins and animals. When a lady yelled that we have to leave. We ask her if we could buy some pumpkins? She said no! You have to leave! We were in the store earlier buying donuts and cider. No one told us that the u-pick area cloes ½ hr. before the store. They lost a sale of two pumpkins that day! We went to Krogers and got buy one pumpkin and get one free! I wouldn’t recommend this orchard!

I’m not an expert on farms and picking fruit, but I can honestly say I had a good time. I was just getting a hold on what it takes to go apple picking, so when we decided to skip the apples and go for blueberries and peaches, I was a little worried. Blueberry picking takes a lot of patience, so be ready. Peaches not so much, as what I could tell they are pretty much the same size as an apple. Apple to peaches comparison works here. Also, when you go and pay for the fruit you pick, they have a counter of donuts, fudge and other stuff. Donuts after a long day of picking fruit is awesome! Lastly, the people working there are very nice, knowledgeable and patient.
