We finally tried Kume last night and all the positives(good sushi, fresh ginger salad dressing, clear soup, friendly staff) were completely wiped out by the fact it was so cold in there! We both are with our coats and scarfs on, still not enough to protect us. Our hibachi meals became ice cold within minutes of delivery to our table and therefore we lost our appetites. Literally the worst dining experience all due to the cold. I am at a loss as to why this is not addressed — all the other patrons were also obviously uncomfortable as well. Too bad because this could have been added to the dining rotation for us.

GROSS! We had our company lunch here and boy were we in for a shock. The man cooking our food was so inappropriate. He squirted sake in the VP’s mouth without even telling her what it was.(Glad she wasn’t pregnant.) He got it all over her blouse and ruined it! We were all mortified. He squirted it in our younger female staff member’s mouth and he told her she had a sexy mouth. Then held the bottle over his crotch and said drink from my wee wee.(I’m not making this up) Then made sexual connotations with tongue! The place was freezing the whole time. As we were leaving we walked by a food cart for the next party at the hibachi and the food they were going to cook for them was not even covered! Avoid this place, well unless you enjoy being cold and sexually harassed.

Only complaint… needs an updated wine list. Sushi is fresh. Rolls are innovative. Hibachi table with the chefs are tons of fun! Great for a big group or couple looking for a night out.

This place is always packed. Superb atmosphere and love how you can get quality sushi or Japanese steak house type food. Been here 3x and have been very happy with everything we ordered. Only other place to compare in this area is Shio in Portsmouth imho.

I do clean the fish tank there, so I am partial to them, but I have eaten there a few times, and they really do have a friendly waitstaff and manager. The food is pretty good, sushi is awesome, and the prices are very reasonable. I go there for lunch a lot as I am passing through, and they got some killer lunch specials! I have not done the Hibachi, but form the looks of things, it is a fairly active and loud Hibachi, but not too much. Overall, great place!

Jet me start off by saying I LOVE hibachi. Doesn’t matter what city or what brand, I’m there. For food, Kume does a good job. The hibachi fried rice is awesome and they do a good job with the veggies. The meats were average — not terrible, but the quality of the filet and chicken was a step below other restaurants. The hibachi experience is a little too cheesy here too. Squirting sake into someone’s mouth is cute the first time, but doing it to everyone at the table then going back for seconds while chanting«sake sake» is a little overboard. Keep it to the fire and volcano’s… this isn’t dinner mystery theater. The pace of each part of the meal also seems to take longer here than other hibachi places. So you’re going to need some time to finish your meal here. I’ll definitely go back… next time I’ll eat in the non-hibachi restaurant part though. All the hibachi menu can be served there so you can get the flavor without the excess drama.

This was my first visit to Kume in Epping. Loved the Maki, the Hibachi chef was very funny and made the meal a fun time as well. For a party of 11, I was impressed with how well they coordinated the delivery of the food and the Hibachi chef’s pace. Everyone at our table was very happy with their various dishes — several had Hibachi grill selections, someone had Sukiyaki, and we even had one hard to please person who is generally not a fan of Japanese food, and even he was happy. Fun atmosphere, great food, great service. We will be back for sure.

After two years here, the quality is dropping quickly here. Ordered a dish that had red pepper & carrots as part of the entrée. I received mushroom & pea pods instead. Huh? Did they really run out of red pepper & carrots or maybe a kitchen mistake, huh. The basil sauce… that had no basil flavor… was extremely greasy. The sushi was just alright. This place really wowed in the past. What’s happened?!!

Not all hibachi restaurants are created equally. This place is consistently good, the hibachi setup is on one side of the restaurant and this review is strictly on this aspect of the business. They have three large hibachi pits, each with 2 cooking surfaces forming a «U» shape. Each table has approximately 18 chairs. Like all hibachi places you will be sitting with strangers if you don’t come with a large amount of people. They also have a small room in the back that is private and has a hibachi table in it. I am not sure if that can be reserved for a party but I have never seen it in use. The hibachi chefs don’t do a ton of tricks, all your standards(egg roll, volcano, fireman, and tossing food for you to catch) but not much originals. If you want to get drunk they will hose you down with Sake and tonight we saw one table go through TONS of the stuff. It was amazing to see how much they consumed. Again, it was all free! All the food is cooked with tons of butter, ginger and sauce. I give the place 4 stars because I have found the scallops to be raw the last two(2) times even though I asked for them to be well done. Not great. Also, the salmon is very thin but still steep on price. Otherwise, very good place to have in the area and the staff is all very friendly and eager to refill drinks including non alcoholic. The company uses Unilocal to advertise on a comment they place under each review. Kind of low in my opinion.

Hibachi, Sushi and drinks Oh Mai! Well that’s what you can get here. I’m a huge sushi fan but was wanting to try their hibachi. Decided to go out for dinner early. Still took us 45 minutes to get seated. Thems the breaks as mother would say. Worth the wait. You get dinner and a show. Each chef has their own flare and style to keep your attention while he starts cooking the food. You get the Saki squirted in your mouth, the onion volcano and the food thrown at you. YEAH! We got the chicken, shrimp, steak and a side of filet. The steak was really good but the filet was awesome! By looking at them on your plate you can’t tell the difference but once in your mouth the filet just melts. The Good: The staff are super nice. Ken walked us through the menu explaining everything especially for the newbies like us. Very well appointed establishment with modern décor. Cool bathroom too. Two sided fish tank right when you walk in. Now the not so great: The wait can be bad. We got there before 6 and didn’t get seated until 645. I think there might of been a mix up on where we were waiting so word to the wise either make a reservation or keep an eye on that list. The wind comes whipping through that front door and makes the already crowded front section not so fun. Again make a reservation during the cold months for sure. Tight quarters at the hibachi tables so plan your seating accordingly and don’t sit next to anyone nicknamed Elbows.
