Our expectations were very low when stopping here. Had seen the reviews but just needed a place to sleep a few hours before getting back on the road. We arrived at 1:30 am. The desk clerk came out of the back and put on her shoes at the desk. Took her a few minutes to get organized. A credit card was not required to get a room. They took cash but she did not have change. We received our room keys and went to the room but were given the wrong keys. She did come after us and give us the right keys. The room was very musty smelling but did look like it had been cleaned. Dents in the walls, tears in the carpets. Graffiti on the sheets. Broken frame on the mirror. Toilet ran all night. The air conditioner did keep the room cool. We went down at 7:45 for breakfast and there was no coffee and no sausage, eggs or sweet rolls as promised. One bagel and one slice of bread sat in a case and they had bins of cereal. We went next door to McDonald’s

Previous reviews of this hotel are ominous so I was prepared to find another hotel even though I’d locked in an attractive rate via prepay. I’m traveling with my wife and 2 kids under age 5 so cleanliness is non-negotiable. So I was pleasantly surprised by our room. The room was clean and much larger than I expected. The bed was firm but acceptable and everything appeared to be in order. The exterior of this hotel, especially hallways, are worn and the fitness center was out of commission due to a recent theft attempt that left it with a lock needing repair. It is a no frills hotel. I’d classify it as clean and comfortable enough. The staff was good and although they were not overly gracious they accommodated an early checkin so I couldn’t ask for much more. You will likely need to ask for extra towels. I wouldn’t mind spending another night here in the future but there are nicer hotels in the area that I’d consider if I was staying in Ennis with my family more than a few days. TL;DR Good, clean, adequate. Wouldn’t spend my honeymoon here.

The bed was comfy. Room looked like it had been cleaned until we found a half burned candle in the ice bucket. The whole bucket had that smell that made the ice taste and smell funny. There is only one towel and no washcloths. When we called for an extra towel, it took them 30 min then they called and asked if we still needed the towel?! The door was propped open when we got there. When you unlocked door you had to pull up to get in the door. There was dead crickets on the stairwells and they looked like they hadn’t been vaccumed in a while and the lobby area was HOT… pool was dirty. and the«housekeeping» man looks a lil sketchy!!!

Clean room and a soft comfy bed. The staff was courteous and quick and I was in my room within minutes. The big drawback to my stay is that we were on the second floor and there is no elevator. My husband had injured his foot, but climbed the stairs anyway. Great deal for the price.

The night *before* I stayed here, I stayed at the Baymont in Tyler — my first stay ever in a Baymont property. Tyler’s Baymont was wonderful, so I booked my next night’s stay at this place in Ennis. Not such a good idea. I think the Baymont in Ennis was formerly another hotel. Check in was confused and lengthy. In all my hotel stays in probably 35 states, I’ve never before been«issued» a TV remote at check-in, with a friendly warning to return it upon checkout or face a $ 10 fee. Unlike the felonious types that seem to frequent this place, I’d never consider lifting the remote. On the other hand, am I actually going to remember to return it? Not something on my mental check-out checklist… The room door didn’t shut readily, and had to be wrangled a bit to shut securely and lock. The door had an old fashioned(and not very strong) slider lock(the extra security lock from the inside; there was a typical electronic lock on the door handle itself) that could easily be forced past(by roving bands of TV remote thieves, for example.) Breakfast — on a Saturday — was a big disappointment, and I’m not very picky about these free breakfasts. It’s served from 6−9AM. I showed up about 8:15, expecting things to be picked through. Not so. Apparently, I was the first one to show up. I had to ask for cups for coffee and OJ, no one had put them out. The woman at the desk — certainly nice and helpful enough — had to stir up the pitcher of OJ since it had been out since 6AM with no takers. It was the worst orange juice I’ve ever had; I dumped it after one sip. Tiny, factory wrapped pastries. There was a waffle maker, but I passed given everything else. Room was roomy enough, bed was OK. Rate was certainly low enough; the pool looked nice and people were using it. There are actually other choices in Ennis, and if I need to do an overnight return, I’ll be trying one of those other choices.
