I have been going there for over 10 years even when it was under other business owners and still to this day I still get my weekly soft serve with rainbow sprinkles, one of my favorite places !

Their soft serve is really good. I’ve gotten vanilla soft serve with rainbow sprinkles in a waffle cone. The waffle cones are THE best, it was very fresh and had the perfect crunchy vanilla-like consistency. The service was quick. My boyfriend likes black and white milkshakes, which I’m not a huge fan of in general but from four boys they are pretty darn good. I would definitely recommend this local ice cream joint for a sweet treat.

This review isn’t about the Four Boys Ice Cream in Englishtown but it is about their newer location in Jamesburg. Jamesburg, unlike Englishtown, is just ice cream, no luncheonette, but it is attached to an Italian restaurant. It’s on Forsgate Drive right across from Thompson Park. I love their ice cream! And have I mentioned that their ice cream is homemade? Homemade and fantastic! They have both hard and soft ice cream, sherbets and I’m pretty sure sugar free ice cream also. They also have at least twenty different flavors of hard ice cream, maybe even more, and that menu stays constant, they almost always have special flavors too. The last time I was there I got a large cup of Cookies and Cream and Cannoli, the Cannoli was good but the Cookies and Cream is, I believe the saying goes, to die for! My wife got a medium cup of Double Brownie Fudge and Coffee Fudge. The portions are more than generous, a medium and a large cup comes to $ 9. I’m not sure why the Jamesburg location doesn’t come up on Unilocal, maybe eventually. The only downside is they are so close to my house I can walk there and their ice cream is so good this could be dangerous!

The luncheonette has been under new management since 2011. The place was gutted and renovated, bringing everything up to code. The place now operates under the name Hartigan’s Grille. The Grille serves comfort food with some unique specials. All ingredients are fresh and cooked to order. Hartigan’s has won a patch readers choice award for best burger. Hartigan’s was also lauded for their burger in Monmouth County life. Hartigan’s has a catering arm that serves any occasion including outdoor parites. Stop by and give it a try. Everyone who does loves it!

Avoid this place at all costs! We took our young son here one day for the usual chicken fingers and fries. Burgers for me and the mrs. The place and the food are nothing special. It’s just a small neighborhood place that we had been to a few times in the past. Well this time, we were a few minutes into our meal when my wife noticed that our sons’ chicken fingers were almost completely RAW! I almost hurled looking at them and thinking of the poor kid eating them! My wife picked up the plate and took it over to the counter where she pointed out that they were raw. The guys response was’ Well I fried them” !!! Are you fu@*$g kidding me??? No remorse, no apology… Nothing. She came back to our table and the waitress noticed something going on and asked what was wrong. We told her and showed her the chicken. She apologized and said you’re not paying for this meal. She was very nice but that was overshadowed by the jackass behind the counter. Let me tell you that if my son had gotten sick from that, those four boys would have been known as four boys in wheelchairs when I got done! We have never gone back and never will!!! We recommend for your own health you don’t either!

On our way to find a diner we came across Four Boys, this little luncheonette with an ice cream parlor attached. We all sat down and grabbed a menu. This place has a large variety of food. Burgers, Salads, Sandwiches, Ribs, Waffles, Pancakes, Eggs, and of course Ice Cream! Good news is they serve breakfast all day. My girlfriend had an order of waffles with blueberries. Her friend had a tuna salad sandwich, and I had the ½ lb cheeseburger with fried onions on top of it. We shared an order of their Mega Fries, which easily fed the three of us, and we were hungry! The waffle tasted delicious, the tuna salad sandwich was so big she took home half of it, and I managed to devour my burger only due to me not having breakfast and being a very hungry person that afternoon. The food was spectacular, the service was wonderful as well. The cook, who was also taking our order, was friendly and helpful suggesting their vegetarian offerings. They were out of veggie burger patties, but the waffle in place of it was a good choice! Even though we were all pretty full we couldn’t resist trying some of their ice cream. We went up to the window to look and see what they had. Butterfinger hard served ice cream caught my eye. It was $ 3 for a small, $ 3.50 for a medium, and $ 4 for a large. These portions rock! Usually you get the small size and wish you had gotten more — but not here! My friends got the children’s small for $ 2.50 which gave you one large scoop. I got the small and had two large scoops. My friend chose cotton candy ice cream and the other chose a mix of butterfinger and pecan(a half scoop each). They were very kind to our questions and even gave us free samples of which flavors we were interested in. What a find this place is. The place is cozy, has a friendly staff, and the food is just terrific. When I’m in the area again I’ll be sure to stop on by and choose another item off of their delicious menu… I just hope I’ll have enough room for ice cream after! :)
