This league is pretty good for someone who has never played volleyball before and just wants to see if its a sport that they enjoy. If that’s the case, then do this league once and then move on. You will not learn the rules of the game here and they literally ask the kids what rules they want to follow. This is very frustrating for a kid that wants to learn or progress in the sport. They don’t have line judges or even ask the parents to do it, like they do at Elevation. They keep score up at the net where you cant see it half the time or they have some of the kids keeping score and they miss a lot of the points and don’t get it correct. They allow some kids to serve in front of the line, while others try to do it right and serve behind the line(which at this level is 90% of the game). Some teams play with 4 kids some with 6 kids, some with 3 kids and a coach. During the games there is almost no coaching. The end of session tournament was a complete joke and the kids were very frustrated with how it was handled. Our entire team was upset and felt ripped of by the«on the fly» rules and a coach playing in the tournament. This place basically facilitates gathering a group of kids and adults together for a friendly game of volleyball. Its not a real league by any stretch. The coaches were all nice people and facility itself was on par with Elevation(its actually the old Elevation facility). They just seriously lack coaching and structure. Its good to just goof around and get a little experience playing, but if you are going to keep score and have a «tournament» then you need to have set rules, keep score properly, and do it right. It might seem trivial but for the kids its a big deal to win and its painful to lose when you really didn’t lose. If you are interested, here is how the tournament went down… Our team won their first game by 3 points. They switched sides and played the same team again and lost by 5 points. Then a coach informed our kids that they were out of the tournament and could keep playing in the losers bracket. Why? Because they didn’t have time to play a tie breaker and the other team won the second game by 2 more points that we wont our first game. What kind of tournament is this? So naturally every single girl on our team was upset. They pulled it together for the next match in the loser bracket. The team they played only had 3 girls, so a coach played with them. Well, as you know, one dominant kid(or coach) make all the difference in the world at the 13-year-old rec level. So my daughter, who is struggling to be consistent with her overhand serves is finally getting her serves in, only to have a 6 – 2 coach running all over the court returning serves that likely would not have been returned. Then the other team gets the ball and 2 of their girls serve in front of the line everytime and the kids on our team have trouble returning them. So our team again wins one game and loses one game and then they decide there is time to play a third tiebreaker game. What! now that they are knocked out of the toujrnament. It just crazy that they don’t have rules. Again, not the end of the world, but it did ruin my daughters night and all the kids on her team. This place is just for goofing around and not for learning the sport to the point of being able to make a club team or a high school team.
