I am a big fan of sushi and Japanese cuisine. Sushi Tatsu is a great cozy little eatery that has a lovely menu with Japanese yakitori(sort of Japanese type of bbq skewers) that not every sushi place can offer. Their sushi is delicious and service is great. If you like simpler atmosphere and smaller restaurants, this is a place to try.

This place brought a new chef about 6 months ago, and the first time I tried it I was disappointed at the quality of food becoming more like an average sushi place around the block. That prevented me from trying this place for a while. Then I decided to try a couple more times before deciding if I will not go to this place anymore. Actually, in my last 3 – 4 tries I found the quality being very similar to the former chef’s and the ingredient being very fresh. Service really never changed either. So basically I am going back almost every week again. Still my go to place for sushi. Will still recommend this place to whoever asks me about it.

Hate to say it but the only good thing here is the free pancake. Had the hamachi collar bone which was super dry and over cooked. Also had the seared tuna app which was uneatable. The tuna had been seared a couple of days before and was very dry and just plain old. I don’t think this restaurant has enough customers to have good enough turn over for fresh dishes. The sushi was supermarket quality. Drinking glasses were dirty twice and I saw a couple of other tables asking for new ones too. It worries me if they can’t keep glasses to customers clean what is going on in the fridges and kitchens? Sorry really wanted to like this place but won’t be back.

We visit here about 2 – 3 times a month. The rolls are amazing. Especially anything related to spicy tuna and tempura crab. Avocado is always ripe when served. Vegetable tempura is always fried tastefully and their newest endeavor: ramen is pretty good. Especially the fried chicken served on the side of spicy miso ramen. Suggested hours of visited is after 1 pm when it’s a little less busy. Otherwise only 1 waitress to serve the entire floor.

My wife and I love this place. It has a very authentic feel. We enjoy that it isn’t posh fancy sushi, but know it’s always carefully prepared and made with love. Bring a bottle of wine!

Sushi Tatsu is a very good place for lunch. Not too expensive which is shocking for the freshness of the sushi. One thing is that they have different sauces for their sushi which is ok but sometimes they put a little too much. In the end, Sushi Tatsu is a very good place for a quick sit-down with friends or family.

Ventured here for lunch take out. A small little venue with maybe 7 to 10 tables. Seeing that the place was empty(only 2 occupants) I received my food pretty quickly. The pricing was normal $ 13(for 2 rolls, soup and salad). It was okay, but probably won’t make it my go to spot.

They now only deliver 35+ and not on weekend. Quality definitely declined. Sashimi has no taste. Rice was hard! I was disappointed last few times.

Picked up an order from here. For the sashimi special which came with salmon, tuna, octopus, yellow tail, red snapper sashimi, and this odd Spanish mackerel that was less fish and more caviar, which they attached to it – it was my least favorite. Overall the sashimi quality wasn’t the best I’ve had. Yes the pieces were thick, but they lacked flavor and a general meatiness that more fresh sashimi has. We also got the spicy tuna and salmon and avocado roll, which I enjoyed.

I came here for lunch recently and overall it was an okay experience. Prices are very reasonable for lunch specials, so justifies coming back. The food is decent, but there was only one waitress running around trying to take care of 8 tables which obviously affected quality of service. Also, we waited for about 25 minutes for our food to come out with was not ideal. Overall, it’s a small place with seating for about 20 people. Perhaps better for takeout.

3.5 stars because of the prices. Sushi is yummy, byob is nice, service was just fine However the waitress gave us dirty glasses twice for our beers and the music they play is absolutely bizarre– I believe I can fly!!! Sushi and location are enough to come back for me but I’m not impressed at all.

Fresh, Fresh, Fresh! I just went there for lunch, and ordered their lunch special that’s available from 11am-2:30pm I believe, it was a «lunch box» 3 sushi rolls & it comes with a salad & miso soup. I ordered the spicy tuna, Philadelphia & Salmon Avocado roll. Quality of the fish, and food in general is great. Prices are reasonable to, it’s a substantial amount of food for the price you pay so completely worth it. It is a small place, but it’s cozy. The waitress was very nice, and they serve you tea when you first sit. Will definitely be coming back here for lunch! :)

This place is probably the best sushi restaurant in the area. The only reason it did not get the 5th star is because of the service. It can be hit or miss. If they are busy, it can take some time to order your food, but they usually will give you a free appetizer if you are waiting. Last time I went they gave my wife and I a free scallion pancake. Also when calling to order take out, the phone will often ring and ring and no one will answer it. As far as the food goes, the sushi is fresh and tastes great. Despite their sometimes poor service, the food will keep my wife and I coming back.

Great looking great tasting rolls! Japanese waitress was very friendly. I will definitely come back here. I tried sushi in many different places in the area but this place is one of the best ones. Relax and enjoy the food!

My boyfriend and I came to this place based on the great reviews. It small, cozy and it’s BYOB which is a huge plus. Service was excellent. We ordered the garden salad, crunch roll, kamakazi roll and a hurricane roll. Everything was fantastic including the service. We also were given scallion pancakes and mochi ice cream on the house — complementary food is always a good touch. I will definitely be back!

I hail from Los Angeles, which has some amazing sushi. I am picky about my sushi. Period. That said, this restaurant has some of the best sushi I’ve had on the east coast(though I don’t tend to run for sushi on this coast). The lunch prices are reasonable and they have a good selection. I am a bit shy about my raw fish, so I gravitate away from mixed sushi plates, and opted to order a couple of rolls as part of a combination. I was pleased with what I ordered and found the fish to be very fresh and the rolls to be well prepared. I would consider the menu to be relatively basic and didn’t see rolls that I would consider to be very creative, but the fish is fresh and the preparation is good. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in the area and recommend it to those who are.

We came in at 730 on a Friday night. The small restaurant was full and the single waitress was busy so I waited patiently by the door. After 10 minutes no one had come over so I walked up to the waitress and asked how long for a table. «Not now, come back later» Ummm, ok… Hopefully I’ll be able to actually try the sushi and update this review

The interior is cute. I came for lunch on a Saturday and it was quiet. I ordered the sushi and sashimi lunch and was promptly given green tea, soup and salad. I believe it comes with either or but I was the only one in there so I guess they were feeling nice. The fish was fresh, non fishy and the sushi rice was seasoned very well. It wasn’t the best fish but it wasn’t the worst fish either. Basically you’re getting what you paid for. I think I’m actually gonna go for the rolls next time because I really liked how they seasoned the rice. A lot of places don’t do the rice right. At 18 $ including tax and tip it’s a bit pricy for me to come back regularly(I work nearby) but I’ll come for rolls again when I get a sushi craving. BTW it’s Street parking only but that’s assumed in Englewood. Oh and if you get sushi and you’re not a wasabi fan, make sure you ask for it without. Mine had it in but I love wasabi so it was no big deal but I could see that going bad with someone who can’t so spicy.

Wow what a find in Englewood. We are fairly new to the area and were thrilled to find such an excellent sushi place close to home. We selected this place based on the Unilocal reviews, and I would concur with such a high rating. The place is fair small and so would be good for smaller groups. The place probably seats at most 20 – 25 comfortably. Service was excellent. We ordered the sushi and sashimi combo for two. The quality and quantity was perfect. We also ordered a spider maki, which was probably more than what we could eat given the size of the combo. But I always order a spider maki at any Japanese place to serve as a common benchmark. Tatsu’s was one of the best. It is as good as my favorite place back in Chicago! We will definitely be back. There are a number of other rolls I would like to try(there were three pages of rolls to order from).
